  1. They like to sit along 378 South on the back side downgrade of South Mountain. That's where a buddy got nabbed a while back.
  2. Ditto! Need to find a good place to which to retire with good local skiing and consistent snow!
  3. Oh no, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the "pros" are anyone posting on this forum. I know people posting here are much too civilized, intelligent, etc. to be out of control on beginner slopes. The "pros" to which I'm referring are those that come out once or twice a year just after watching a weekend's worth of X-Games or something similar, and think they're the next gold medalist by screaming down beginner slopes. They have no consideration for anyone else on the slopes besides themselves. Must have been hit/miss on Paradise. Early in the season I was going down the side, well away from anyone and a SP told me to slow down. Was pretty much the last time I went down it the rest of the year.
  4. My biggest and pretty much only peeve is about the "professionals" skiing/boarding on beginner slopes at full speed (and typically out of control) where people are still trying to learn to ski/board. If they think they're so good, they shouldn't be on the beginner slopes, but on runs that don't invoke fear and panic in those just trying to learn to like the sport. Beginners have enough problems without the added stress of crazies coming down behind them making them think they're gonna be run into. Have to say Blue seemed to have stepped up the patrols on Burma and Paradise this season. The few trips I made down them, showed a lot more SPs out whistling speed violators.
  5. And be willing to give it away!!! http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/actor-bruce-willis-says-hes-willing-to-give-away-idaho-ski-area-to-a-nonprofit/2012/04/04/gIQAdZRhvS_story.html
  6. Should be a good dialogue spark... http://www.boston.com/travel/explorene/specials/ski/blog/2012/04/skiing_pet_peev.html

Quoits in this neck of the woods!
  8. "We gotta ski ice, rocks, mud, pow, rain and we have fun doing it." Reminded me of skiing Blue this past weekend. http://www.skitheeas...-grasso-feature
  9. Good 'ol Mo-Mo...
  10. http://www.wfmz.com/...9z/-/index.html It was definitely a fun day up at Blue yesterday. For those that didn't get to get up to the mountain, Channel 69 covered the pond skimming a bit. Got there around 11 to a pretty good fog bank, with streams, rivers, ponds, puddles everywhere. It felt like there was more water skiing than snow skiing going on! By the time the pond skimming started, the sun had burned off almost all the fog and broke into full goggle-tan strength shortly thereafter. By far, the best run was Sidewinder, with its soft snow make the big jumps lots of fun. Plenty of people out taking part, with some pretty large bumps on the left side just below the cannon. By the end of the day, lower park had a river across it just below the airbag, which to my surprise they still had running up until about 4pm. Regardless of the limited terrain being open, it was still a great day to be out on Blue's slopes for the final time this year. Until next year....
  11. Post some pics!
  12. A race down an ungroomed steep? A tad bit crazy. http://contour.com/stories/rahlves-banzai-tour-2012-sugar-bowl-daron-practice-run
  13. Cool! Do you have any problems with your hands going numb? I've always wondered that about apehangers. I've not noticed it doing that any more than any other bike I've had. However, I try to avoid the snakes as much as possible because they to tend to wrench the wheel much like frozen cord does with a ski sometimes!
  14. 2004, was a 40th birthday/mid-life crisis present to myself.
  15. Unbelievable conditions today. Surprisingly cold this morning too!
  16. Love my Softtail Standard.
  17. The 61 degree days don't help much either.
  18. Ouch, looks like the end is near...
  19. Could be a pretty ugly day Saturday. I hear T-Storms are in the forecast!
  20. We did Killington Monday. Trails and snow were in excellent shape from the little they got on Friday. However, lots of trails still have very little or practically no cover. It was amazing to see people trying to navigate the few pockets of snow separated by lots of rocks, sticks, etc. Outer Limits was spectacular as you could actually get an edge. Crowds were non-existent. I think we waited 1-2 people deep at the gondola and nothing anywhere else. The drive home yesterday was crazy, with snow the entire way through New York state. Must have seen 10 cars facing the wrong way on the thruway. Having missed the storm by a day didn't help the drive home either.
  21. Yup, unless there's some other people in line ahead and nobody else working, it only takes em as long to run the credit card through and snap a pic.
  22. Won't believe it until it's actually happening. This winter blows!
  23. Actually, with the lack of natural snow and warm temps this year, it's been nowhere near as crowded on weekends as previous years. Last year, after we got a bunch of snowstorms, the lines would be out almost to the pavement at the bottom. I've not seen the lines anywhere like that this year.
  24. Looks like Blue just put in a "Progression Park" just for beginners...
  25. Yes, last night's conditions were pretty good, except that the fresh mixed in made for some slow snow.
