  1. Always enjoyed staying at the Iron Horse...
  2. I want to retire there!
  3. Ditto!
  4. Skiing in the rain, need a fix bad...
  5. Would have to have A LOT to drink before taking on that! Think Barb, et. al. would allow it?
  6. Would be a great costume for the pond skim...
  7. Resorts probably wouldn't want to offer such an insurance as it would promote out of bounds skiing. Kind of like those that say you shouldn't hang a "Beware of Dog" sign as it shows you know your dog may harm someone.
  8. I agree. Go alone and give them the business after you have a great time!
  9. Blue's version.
  10. Thinking about picking up one of these, does anyone know if they work and how well? http://thermajock.com/
  11. Make lift ticket prices dependent upon state of slider's (or guardian's thereof) driver's license...
  12. I think it depends on the existing terrain. If it warrants a park, then so be it. But if they're gonna waste some good steep just to make a park, then no. Regardless, the more terrain the better!
  13. Not only that, but just people who flat-out don't belong going down the slope. At least the smart ones take off their skis and walk back up or pop em and butt-slide down. But then there are the many that just outta control bomb it with little way of stopping but biting it or worse, running into someone. Good they put bumps on it!
  14. Let's hope so. Perhaps cut it right so there are a number of good trails off of it, not just waste a ton of land on another cutback beginner's slope like Paradise. I would think they'd build the hotel out where they're putting the water park for easy access to the road.
  15. Going further east. Started cutting it already left side of quad, I believe.
  16. 10:57 & 11:17
  17. Was wondering what the conversation was about, trying to read lips... "So, what beers do you like?" May show up here eventually http://www.slhn.org/Healthy-Living/Talk-Doctor/Programs/2013.aspx
  18. Saw toast21602 on "Talk with your Doctor" last night... Where does he go from here?
  19. philly, when are you going to add this latest one to your signature?
  20. Thanks for the report. Some day, some way...
  21. Many of his posts come out of left-field and crack me up.
  22. He's probably going through DTs right about now... (starving for attention).
  23. Just playing the devil's advocate (not arguing, just discussing).... I'm not sure you can go by lessons either. I agree, read and know from instructors that snowboard lessons are far lower than ski lessons, but who really knows why? I tend to believe that the mindset is: I skateboarded as a kid, I can snowboard or My friend is taking me snowboarding, so they'll teach me or Lessons are too expensive, how hard can it be? Just look around on any given weekend day and you'll see tons of boarders out there trying to learn on their own, most failing miserably. A question for you, did you take a ski or snowboard lesson when you started? The first time I went skiing was with a bunch of college kids: "It's easy! We'll teach you to ski. All you have to do is snow-plow". It wasn't until I was proficient, did I take a lesson to see if they could help me improve. All I'm saying is that I don't think lessons are that much better/worse indicator than snowboard sales as to whether snowboarding is on the decline or not. Probably market research would be the only real way to determine whether it's on the decline or not. Lift ticket sales would be complicated due to repeat customer, season passes, etc.
  24. The other weekend I rode up the 6-pack with a triplet of middle-aged women. They broke out some lagers and proceeded to pound them. Then they whipped out a bunch of undergarments and proceeded to increase the decoration of the new bra tree on Lower Sidewinder. Cracked me up!
