Back home from another fun day at Blue. Arrived in the lower lot around 8:15am with an outside temperature of 27' with calm winds and overcast skies. No guns were ablaze, but Falls looking groomed and shortly thereafter a SP cruised down, so yet another @RootDKJ down will be had. No precipitation had been encountered on the ride up, but temps on the South side of the Blue ridge were in the lower 30's, so hoping for the best. In the house was @tarponhead and Bethlehem Ford guy crew. There must have been a newbie at the quad open because he couldn't figure out how to open all the gates and opened just one successfully which happened to be the one @tarponhead was in. He lucked out and obtained the first civilian quad solo by 4 chairs, while the rest of us complained. I skirted in front of others and entered through the only functioning gate to chase down @tarponhead down a glorious, grippy almost buttery Coming Soon run. Midway to Lower Main conditions were just as good if not better than Coming Soon and the lack of crowds gave each run entirely to us. Lazy to the Falls was silently smooth and the Falls headwall was a bit slick but free of cookies and marbles. The bottom of the Falls was solid, frozen cord. Precipitation started out as rain and sleet but later turned to some decent snow for a while until turning back to sleet that pelted all exposed skin. Took a ride up the Vista chair to see what was going on at the top of the new lift. Some workers were mucking with the safety bars on the chairs, probably just final adjustments. Also in the valley they were loading up trucks with various bits of equipment and one of the big diggers and driving them off. With the gloves sufficiently soaked and the rain coming down harder, we bailed around noon to the bar coated in ice like a couple of glazed donuts.

I heard they got a pretty good amount of snow from the last storm, but no word on conditions.

Not that we saw, just snuggling. -
QFT! Bummer didn’t make meat Sunday but hit up the lounge for the 2nd half of WC final, excellent game! Finished up run goals and checked out goats (see other post) and watched them add chairs to the lift…

Looks like they groomed LMS. -
I wish they'd share some of what they're smoking when they make their predictions.
-
I'd be willing to bet somewhat less than the 8 or even 5 inches they were predicting...

You can fap off to this site… https://skimap.org/skiAreas/view/258

I hate rain and wind.
-
Oh yeah, it'll be in grate shape for them to train on.
-
If they open Lazy, BMR will take it over.
-
With 2 people paying $30, you have double the opportunity to sell them high margin beer and food and double the rentals. As for the season pass holders, definitely better off having one person paying $60 to keep the crowds down.

Can't leave any money on the table...

Commence Ullr sacrifices in 3...2....1.....

Looks like they put a fan gun at the intersection of Switch and LMS. Should make for some better snow right there, but then again it's Blue.

Best ski day so far at Blue this year, not sure what @Benm was smoking, but I wish he would share! Ok, substitute @GrilledSteezeSandwich post, since I'm currently drunk from sitting in the upper lodge for too long with @tarponhead and bar toad Keith. Arrived in the lower lot around 7:20am with little fanfare on the ride up. Nobody in the house at the moment, save Rodney and myself. Maybe @Dirtwolf in the PASR row, but not sure to some light flurries. 32' at the top, 34' in the lot. Bumpers started showing up a tad later. In line, snow started falling a bit harder which made for some nice ambiance. 2nd civilian chair with @Dirtwolf maybe? I don't remember. The snow was nice and grippy and no SP to slow you down. Paradise had some similar snow with a few ice spots here and there. Burma run was more/less empty but too much effort going over that far. Rode the Vista to see if anything else was done up top: nada. Did have a chat with a SP who pulled up. He said they were told definitely by the end of the year, if not before. Rest of the day was mostly hard flurries and lapping the ridge on Coming Soon and Paradise which was a ton of fun and some intense thigh burn. Kept @tarponhead out for 18 runs and then retired to parking lot and Last Run Lounge for beers. Did see @momskeeztoo was down on lower Coming Soon, but she said she was fine over a beer at Last Run Lounge. Still "snowing" here in H-town as I type this.

12/10…sunny Saturday. Back to winter.
indiggio replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Early morning conditions sucked, as they seemed to only put a skiff of new snow down on the existing trails and what they did put down wasn't good. They seemed to be more interested in starting to work on new terrain. However, later in the morning, the scraped off stuff on the edges of Coming Soon and lower Paradise turned into a lot of fun for some serious early season thigh burn. -
Cool! That it’s 4 days will help a lot as repetition is the key early on in order to get into the swing of it, then It’s a matter of keeping on doing it after the clinic is over to build up the muscle memory.

Shorter, narrower and softer skis make it a lot easier to ski in the bumps, but learning the techniques will go a long way in being able to ski them regardless of the equipment. The biggest hurdle is looking down the bump line instead of at the bump immediately in front of you. Once you can get over the fear of not looking down, things start to click. Is it one of those Bumps for Boomers clinics? They'll probably work on the backsides (green line) first and move up to zipper depending on the abilities. You also probably have the luxury of natural bumps instead of man/machine made ones like we have back here. Have fun with it!

I'm interested in how you make out in the bump clinic.

FYI... Blue is closed tomorrow, just so you know. There's a sign on the doors. Strange that there's nothing posted on social media though.
