Memory is the first to go!

Sure it was me? I'm not a wine drinker, per se. Sounds more like something @Johnny Law would say. Wouldn't want to take credit for one of his quotes, especially good ones!

Chatted with @tarponhead last night and with the temperatures dipping into the single digits, the hope that they would make some pristine, man-made again on Coming Soon danced in our tiny, beer-addled brains, so the plan was to hit the quad first thing, because Razor's was closed and who cares about Challenge when there's pristine snow to be had. After saying hellos to those inside the lower lodge, I made my way towards the quad, with the PASRs at the 6-pack encouraging me on. My old, deaf ears only heard them yelling something like "You're going to get the best snow on the mountain", but why weren't they going to the quad? Were they just playing with my mind? Oh well, their loss. Soon @tarponhead, Gah-skier George, his Jr. and bumper Rick arrived at the quad with me. The gates jittered and then popped open, so we dashed through down to the loading area. After a brief wait, the lifties emerged from their shack, went up and checked the 6pack and waved us on. As we departed, we were amazed to see empty chairs on the 6-pack? As we further ascended the mountain, still more empty chairs? Farther up the ride, we could see the masses still waiting at the 6-pack gates? Guess the gates were malfunctioning on the 6er?? Unfortunately, there was no glorious snow on Coming Soon like yesterday, however later in the day Brezhnev's clef skied quite good. Evidently someone went off the right side and into the woods and had to be pulled out by SP. That lower right ditch of Coming Soon is not for the feint of heart! They blew more snow on Barney's which made for some pleasant bumping until it was skied out and the glades, if you stayed on Barney's side was fun too. Pretty much everything else was meh. Lower Main had some nice snow from the fan gun, but watch out for the hidden ice rinks.

Add me to the list of most pleasantly surprised. Was fully expecting and ice rink shit-show, but cruising down Challenge’s fairly smooth cord had things looking up. Decided to check out Coming Soon and discovered snow that was like skiing on a cloud. Would be nice to have snow like that across the entire mountain. Took a run down the trench to find only one set of tracks before me and some wicked good, slashable snow. Sidewinder had some decent snow with a few ice patches around. Lazy and Switch had some nice snow, but Barney’s took the cake for fun. They blew a skiff on the entire run and the headwind kept refilling the troughs with loose dust. Unfortunately got really spoiled by the snow on Coming Soon today.

Ordered on Jan 18 and still have yet to see them.

At some point in the late morning, it was refusing to read pretty much all SP holders passes. Wonder if they disabled it for the time being?

Yeah, I couldn't believe how crowded the 6 was when I pulled up the webcam. Asked the kid if he knew what was going on and if nobody works or goes to school anymore.

Son said Philly & NJ have teacher in-service day to celebrate Chinese New Year. Saw the 6 down at one point, but was back up last time I looked, but way crowded.

1-31 Velvet Carpets and Malfunctioning Sensors

Slam one leg at a time through the gate opening, as they give just enough to get through that way. -
Looking at the place on Google Earth, looks like there's a parking lot right at the entrance or perhaps in the school lot?

I ran across this video that has some tips about halfway through for removal/install in the wind...
-
Or the unmarked groomer trenches on Challenge, or the guns blowing wet snow that send people ass over tea kettle, or Barney's with mirror ice in the troughs from broken water pipes...
-
Only because they only let people they like into their clique.

Makes me wonder how many hundred Blue Mountain Ski Patrollers it would have taken to evacuate a single chair?

What I find difficult are getting the front clips situated properly. Kinda hokey design as opposed to others that just have a metal rectangle that slips over the top of the ski which I would think would be the easiest to put on. Maybe there's some trick to putting them on that I'm not aware of. Doh! Guess a little searching first would have helped...

The toepiece is the majority of the weight. It's definitely beefy and removing it drops the weight substantially.

It very well might be, but it's a great lightweight, insulated, windproof jacket.

That video would be one for Jerry of the Day.

I always pack some clothing, sweats, shirts, etc. in with skis. Boot bag has unessential clothing and keep them both under the 50lb limit. Because I carry on boots, once a counter person mentioned mine was a very light boot bag and asked if I actually had any boots in there. What does it matter lady? They're both under 50lbs, regardless of what's in them.

I have airline cards with all the major carriers and use whichever when flying.

Didn’t get enough of the outdoors at Blue today, so decided to noodle around the yard trying out the new stuff. Everything worked as expected, just need more experience with it. @JFskiDan the skins didn’t glide very well to start, but also did get better after a while. They sure make some strange sound when gliding.

First run down Challenge was superb, if/when you got into a groomer groove. Definitely the best snow I’ve skied on it this year by far. Took a run down the Communist chute which had a skiff of overblow, but not enough to make it great, so popped out to the bumps which had some new, firm chalk show. Hope to get back to it later. Unfortunately there was a race today, so the quad was probably going to be busy. Main was pretty good, but by the time I got to Switch it was already chewed up and spit out marbles. Eventually discovered the extreme left edge of Sidewinder had some extraordinarily good snow the entire run, so we just kept lapping that so long as the quad lines allowed. Lines got too long by noon, so headed for the lot. @mute1080, @PSUFly, @enjoralas and Pops still hanging and cooking up the last of breakfast/lunch, so got to sample the delicious, as usual, wares. The pancakes were off the hook, sausage and luckily a few slices of scrapple remained. Went and fetched @momskeeztoo who promised to stop by and made sure she did! Had to do some searching for Paradise and found it on Sidewinder today.
