2/23/20...gonna be a bright sun shiny day..
indiggio replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I’m for too old and lazy to put that much effort into making first chair. If it’s available, and won’t stop the lift, I’ll take it, otherwise I’m perfectly happy with second chair and all are welcome! Snow was excellent again today all over the mountain, especially good was first run down NM/DW. It would have been nice if they blew on Barney’s again, but you can’t have everything. When temps and sun came up, Barney’s turned great! Also fun was the glades next to Barney’s that everyone seemed to be ignoring, but had lots of fun rollers and very good snow! Snow on Challenge later in the day was also wonderful, soft on the edges and firm, grippy snow in the middle. Watched a runaway beginner flying down bottoms of Sidewinder into the merge, knowing there was no way he was gonna stop. Poor boarder at the top of Lower Sidewinder with his back uphill got TOTALLY blindside-obliterated by the out of control power wedger, who went straight into the woods. A later review of the area showed no injuries, miraculously! -

I was privy to some Good afternoon herb as well as a number of high ABV IPAs which brought out a favorable side, not often seen amongst these parts! -
@enjoralas and @saltyant, have a great trip!

Blue mountain 2/22/20...great snow PASR day.

For not having a winter, Blue did a bang-up job to make Saturday conditions some of the best of the season. Saw @Mixilplix once in the corral. The snow they blew pretty much all over the mountain was dry and on-point. Barney's was fantastic and with the warmth and sun, skied well into the afternoon. Legs were shot! When the Quad went down around 2, causing a mad crush on the 6-pack and then it stopped and had difficulty starting, called it a day, as we weren't going to wait in that crowd a second time. VIP reader also crapped out, so everyone was jumping it. The entire corral was filled and lines to the readers were back to the macadam. Saw they got the quad running again, probably around 3 or so. Caught up with @mbike-ski in the lot. Should be a spectacular day tomorrow (today). -
You had me at "bumped up Boomer"

And get an in-focus picture posted here.

Not complaining, just wondering.

I saw the guns on yet early this morning and for the life of me can't figure out why they're still blowing snow??? Is there another potential buyer coming to town that they're trying to impress? Does she want to outlast Cameltoe, so there's no alien pass use? I'm sure it's not to provide the best quality conditions for the sliders.
-
There used to be a 4WD w/ chains 1/2 school bus that made the run up there periodically. I don't know if it's still running or not. I don't recall how we found out about it, probably a brochure at the hotel we were staying.

Oh boy...

At Blue, what BMR wants is typically what everyone gets... No Razor's, No Widowmaker, No NM/DW.
-
Unless you’re prone to wearing something like these in the parking lot. Wouldn’t want to mess them up!
-
BMR only wanted Razor's dusted, not buried.
-
They were a big deal, and then snowmaking goes and fucks things up. Rumor is that FIS wasn't happy and thinking hard at ever returning.
-
Nope, I know the difference between there and their.
-
I would have liked to go up today to check out the FIS race a bit, alas, work beckons. Should be excellent spring skiing conditions.

Bah! Snow was so good, skipped morning break and missed Sausage Sunday. Can't have everything... After the smidge of new snow was skied out of moguls, skied the @MattEDGE of Main Street for the majority of the day where the snow was just wonderful. Also took a few laps down the left side of Lazy, which also had good snow.

Wow was it cold! Guess because we’ve not really had any winter as of yet and I wasn’t used to real cold. For the most part I thought the snow was good all over, with some locations being grate (Barney’s & MS ridge) and others being bad to horrible (Paradise & Switchback). They blew a ton on Barney’s that filled in most of the troughs, but there were some that didn’t get the memo and you had to be careful of them. For the majority of the day the bumps were good. Even @saltyant was trying them out and asking for tips, which I tried to oblige. I have Switchback a whirl after it opened but with the horrible grooming, I bailed out to MS halfway down. Took a run down NM/DW. The bumps were frozen and icy, but the rest of the run was pretty good since it hadn’t been skied a whole lot. i was kinda surprised at the lack of crowd. There were a lot of cars, but the runs and the lines weren’t bad. However the training hill was packed as was the tubing hills. Tomorrow should be interesting.

I told @toast21602 that I'd follow him in to pick up his stuff if something happened, since he was leaving later that morning. We still had the rest of the week left to ski, so with the entrance so sketchy that morning, I didn't want to risk it that day. We never made it back up there.
