  1. One would think that it should be safer to ski outside than besiege stores in search of bottled water and toilet paper, but I guess not.
  2. This would actually be the best exit strategy for Blue this year. A great excuse not to have a party, close early and perhaps use freed up money to honor $399 passes.
  3. If you're re-staining, highly recommend these stains: https://www.armstrongclarkstain.com/. They don't form a film, don't peel and there is no need for stripping when staining again. Not that longevity is important these days, but still.
  4. You certainly seem to be in the right business these days.
  5. But shoot, it's 3.5 hours by train from Verbier to Zermatt, just one way. How were they going to pull it off? Probably weighs in the decision to return earlier. Would be such a short visit anyway.
  6. Same reason why they text you about flight delays, cancellations and open checkins.
  7. Oh wow, Dolomites actually got closed on 03/09. https://www.dolomitisuperski.com/lp-2019-20/Covid-19_en And so is Cervinia, the Italian side of Matterhorn.
  8. Well, I acknowledge the risks, but probably wouldn't start calling airlines first and rather wait for them to call me. They're all US citizens after all. I feel like you guys spooked them a bit. This is an awesome trip from what I've seen. What would make the report even better are some logistical details. Like how easy it was to schedule train connections, did they get train passes or paid per trip, how far they lived from the station, what it takes to move around the village, and how they planned to get to Zermatt. That doesn't look like an easy day trip. Unless it wasn't meant to be a day trip, and then it's a shame that we'll never know. Hell, Zermatt is like a dream place that I really want to go to one day. With Dolomites I was trying once to do everything w/o car, but it just didn't come together. Two trains and a bus, a wasted day and tons of time waiting for connections. Switzerland has to be more efficient. And going from/to airport by train is so much nicer because there is less fear of getting stuck in the mountains due to bad weather, no need to schedule buffer days to get back to the airport in time, no rental headache, etc. Hence my interest in the logistics. Costs are another interesting subject. I see Verbier passes are like $70 per day vs $50 in Italy, not huge difference for sure. I know direct flights to Zurich are about twice as much as to Milan, I wonder how nice the accommodations choices are.
  9. Ooh, it sucks getting plans cut short like this! So close to Zetmatt! If the only fears are flights cancellations I would likely stay and then let the airlines bail me out. It's their problem.
  10. That's beyond idiotic.
  11. Tell us about where you stay. Is this considered peak time? I don't see many people on the slopes, but I'm not sure if it's because of the virus or timing. What are the locals saying? Any kids on their school breaks? When you're at Zermatt tomorrow, see if the connection to the Italian side is open.
  12. Actually, I was wrong. Found the email in the Junk folder. Yay.
  13. I bought triple pack this year, have a pass and didn’t get this email.
  14. Wow, I thought it was for trackers or some sort of avalanche gear. I have to say, these look quite color coordinated, I'd carry them just for the looks. Nah, I ski groomers, hence there is no need to carry extra stuff around.
  15. Yeah, now I see why Atomic would take two pairs of skis on these trips. Gotta love cross-country. What do you think they carry in those backpacks?
  16. CB doesn't seem to have an alien pass program this year??
  17. What's the first stop? Where is all the luggage riding on the train? Shelf on top, dedicated place in each car? Enough space for all passengers and their skis? Is Switzerland life breaking the bank yet?
  18. Yeah, I remember how someone was saying recently that grooming is always inconsistent at Blue, and there are always trails that are in less than skiable condition... Well, today everything was excellent. Good job!
  19. That’s a lot of driving (or training) if you’re gonna see it all. How long is the vacation?
  20. It's not the virus to watch out for, it's the hysteria around it. Who knows what they'll think of by the time toast comes back. May as well have to spend 03/22 in a quarantine.
  21. Wow, they look fantastic. I wish I could see the faces of folks where you're gonna be tuning these. Are the binding pieces from two different sets? Did I miss the part where you glued the bases? Or is the orange sheet it? What's that black strip in the middle, some sort of carbon? And the variable thickness, is that due to the wood profile or epoxy alone? How did you even shape it that way?

    3/2 Morning

Everything is dog slow right now. Except for Sidewinder.
  23. How do you know all of this? Related question. This November Burma lift looked like it got a face lift. Was it just a paint job, or were the chairs really replaced?
  24. Yeah, how about a demo day??
  25. Will the hoses really get that fat to fill the vertical gap?
