  1. Salty, this is Da Chance!! Let's close the season with fanfares on the mountain that can be Epic w/o Vail's help! Let's face it, the light of Blue is dimming. Closing in March, a ghost town already. People are fleeing in all directions. Some are finding new places with glades not covered with ice and untracked powder not requiring an airline ticket. Others can't bring themselves to buying next year season pass and are washing away the sorrows with fortified beer in Blue's parking lot (while they can). So, take those trusty 170 RTMs of yours back from storage and come face 70F weather on the mountain, the fun mountain!
  2. Leaving right now. Lazy is the smoothest and most pleasant. Paradise is awesome on top and kinda rough in the middle. But if one keeps to the right, it's ok. Someone has knocked the poles over that rock, so Sidewinder turned into a mine field.
  3. But Master... Did you not teach us that there aren't bad conditions?
  4. Well, I'm not sure what conditions upset GSS so much yesterday, but today it's quite alright. Sure, there's chop, but no more than it was around noon last Sunday, plus it's soft and gets cut rather easily. Paradise has lost half of its top segment width, a lonely boulder is peeking on Sidewinder, but other than that there's not much to write about. Oh, something came and abducted all the people. Makes me a little uncomfortable.
  5. I'm amazed by what locals think about passes like Ikon. Cost of window tickets is so absurdly high in the US that passes is the only way to ski w/o going bankrupt. So it's illogical to first make window prices sky high and then complain about pass holders. A question for you... Would you consider Squaw interesting enough to ski for a week, or would splitting between Squaw and Mammoth make more sense?
  6. Come tomorrow. Will probably be my last day at Blue this season.
  7. I do remember you saying that you'd buy a CB season pass if they ever stay open after Blue. This is it.
  8. Oh wow. I was about to dump two remaining tickets to JFBB, but this makes me reconsider.
  9. How's snow this evening? Still soft or frozen crud?
  10. And whose crutches are these?
  11. I chatted with them about expiration of buddy passes. 3/31.
  12. Getting back on topic, it's Salty's favorite kind of snow this afternoon. Wet, soft and buttery, whipped in so many places. 6 is running, 4 is not. Dead quiet.
  13. Yeah, I'll agree with Salty and will even sign a petition. The stats are fake unless they measure the actual hours on snow. It's fine to say that you're above stats in general and don't log them at all, but if you do, at least make it fair.
  14. GSS what's your skiing to parking lot time ratio?

From the closed mountains? JFBB sells tickets until 04/13. CB's projected closing day is 04/08. EDIT: Well, actually, BM's projected closing day is also 04/08 according to onthesnow.com

I'm not so confident. E.g. I've asked today if I can carry over my buddy pass over to the next year, and they said that nope, 03/31/19 is the last day when it can be used.
  17. Please don't tell me you're the singer
  18. There's a warmish (60) and rainy week on the horizon.
  19. Blue Vail... They should start thinking about rebranding.
  20. Can you just get a tad closer and ask nicely about what's going on? About Vail in general and heated seats in particular?
  21. Is there a link somewhere?
  22. Noooo. Imagine wet cement that hasn't set yet but is about to. Just look it up. It's not terribly grippy, just slower than usual. And the pond is the absolute slush right in front of the quad than you have to water ski through.
  23. Eh, autocorrect. Quad, of course. And yeah, wet, heavy, skis carve deep into this stuff.
  24. Nice cement all over. Little pond at the bottom of the guard. Soft and slow. Good thing I've waxed my skis yesterday night.
