It's not so much about laying first track as about maximizing your time on the mountain before the crowds arrive. If you start at 8am, you have 30 more minutes of decent skiing than when you start at 8:30. With that said, sometimes it may be counterproductive to come too early because that fresh cord can be frozen solid, and so waiting a little until it softens up will give you better conditions. And that's especially true during shoulder season when crowds are not an issue.

Maaan. Just brake yourself! I saw GSS just straightlining Falls w/o pausing, what a good way to kill someone. And didn't it actually happen last year?

Anyone else getting 2019-20 Peak Pass

5 mins per trip are irrelevant. He already made a bigger decision of spending hours more in the car. -
So that I understand the consequences better, what are the everybody's expectations of this? BM on Epic pass, even bigger crowds, death of VIP lane?

LOL, I figure, you forgot your wallet. Can still do it online. The PA is not until tomorrow.

Dear Blue, Thanks for renewing my pass today. I realize that this winter was far from perfect. All that snow to make, all those bills to pay. So I'd like to let you know that I really feel for you, and in particular I feel like it will be toootally OK (and everybody else on this board will certainly agree) if you make a public service announcements on FB tomorrow about the number of discounted season passes suddenly reaching their limit, and the price going up by a hundred. Or two. Faithfully yours, Eaf PS. Do try to make an exception for Salty who in view of exceptional snow conditions couldn't get his ass off the slopes even for a minute to bring his $$ to the ticket window.

Yeah, the crowds surely picked up earlier than usual today. Last weekend it was 10am, and today at 9am the quad became packed. Thankfully, I was alone this time, so could take advantage of VIP gates, even though they periodically malfunctioned thereby gathering a small crowd of anxious passholders. Sometimes it was clearly a human factor, I saw one dude repeatedly trying to go through the VIP gate with a regular ticket. Amazingly, nobody close to him would give him a clue. For those who shy away from the Summit lodge, there was a Carve 4 Cancer event up there. Some free stuff, tacos, demo boards, live music and even a big stage in Vista ballroom for a concert to be had at 2:30pm. Couldn't wait that long... And yeah, the snow and sun were so good! -

Before the turnstiles?? Wait, I thought you were following me. So I took the longer way down and missed you at the gates? My fault then. -

Salty and I were admiring your moves on Razor from the lift... - What an awesome pair of skis he has, said I. - No, what an awesome skier he is, mumured Salty. Now having slept on it, I tend think: "what awesome snow it was" 😀 -

Salty ditched me after my last run. I was waiting for him to go up together again, but I guess he assumed that I'm parked in the valley and got lost somewhere waiting for the rest of you. -

Ten minuses to karma for forgetting about me. And the snow really was the best of the best. There wasn't a trail that was bad, deciding which one to ski next was the biggest dilemma of the night. -
Woo-hoo for tonight
-
Poor twins. Only slow lifts for them from now on.

Not significantly for sure. And let's not forget that in order to get decent skiing on any mountain here you need to hit it in the early morning. The longer drive will make wakeups unbearable, and hotels will negate all the savings. Plus gas. Plus you'll be tired. Plus "are we there yet?" This thread is gonna have an Agatha Christie kind of an ending with a purchase of another round of BM passes.
-
I see this has been discussed already With these numbers and selections BM's pass is way better than Peak. All that "variety" that Peak seems to offer won't be worth it given that the variety is all on this coast and requires a substantial drive.
-
How far are BM, JFBB and Hunter from you?
-
You get ruled by two underage women. Be a man and get three Mountain Creek passes. Dirt cheap, close, has three majestic mountains in one and you won't be called a gaper there. Ski it every day because it's in your backyard. No need to drive for half a day to be hit with crowds and same sheets of eastern ice as here.

They're quite daredevils. I get chills by just looking at some of their pics, and imagine going down off trail with them and hitting a place like Corbet's with no alternative way down.
-
I love it. This is satire at its finest. SallyCat (regretfully so busy these days skiing her VT super pass) would be proud of him.

Read it five times and still not sure I understand what happened there.

Salty, get out of the lodge and go back skiing!
-
I'd actually take yesterday snow over the last pic any time. But that's just my Jerry-ish HO.
-
Does it actually still snow at CB?? And webcams don't show too many people. No significant lines to speak of. Maybe it's not as empty as a regular Monday morning would be, but not a crowded weekend either. Cool!

Did you start at 7:30 with First tracks or 8:30?
