Well that green guy looks almost as cheerful as NMSKI. I'm honored.
-
This is what? All groomed, a few ripples and half of pow-hungry season pass holders?
-
Well, there are ways They never check pass photos at the turnstiles, and I do need next year pass...
-
Would be nice if they did a plus one on this. But they don't, so I'll have to pass.
-
They do have a camera that overlooks the racks at the upper lodge. Would be nice if it also recorded the picture, and not just be a webcam. Also these are short Elans. Hard to believe that someone would risk it for skis this inexpensive. Must've really been a mixup.

3/3/19....sausage Sunday..nice weather.

It's been really nice... until about 10:30 when all lift lines suddenly overflowed. Who would've thought that people would come despite the forecast of rain and snow... Paradise and Lazy were awesome, hated Challenge, Razors was somewhat better when it opened. And we enjoyed Sidewinder until the crossover into Lazy thereby bypassing the lower section that was in worse shape. Also have been looking for that cream cheese all over the mountain, but I guess you ate it all yesterday. -
And you learn some manners on your road trip.

You never know. But it would be an easier decision if that gift card dealer wasn't driven away on his first day of dealing.
-
Ahhh, competition then. Love it!

And what the hell is going on? Two live JH threads, one on top and one here, my head is spinning from jumping back and forth. Are you guys not together?

Salty was all over Colorado news less than a week ago. Show some respect for the man.

Hey, waaaaait a sec. With Sausage Sundays migrating to CB, Blue's only hope for survival is acquisition.
-
By this logic you should skip a year w/o passes. Because having two sets of passes for one spring is definitely wasteful, no matter whether it's for the same mountain or two.

A warning? I doubt anybody is getting away with a warning this week. Their goal is clearly to patch some budget holes by the end of the month. No, he gave me a break and issued a $54 failure to follow signs and directions ticket with "an easy way to pay online". No points.

So I picked the wrong day then. Oh well, at least the slopes were empty, and no enforced speed limits either. Btw, NJ troopers are really going nuts this week. Full front attack. Speed traps along I-278, I-78, and not just in their usual spots. Saw one yesterday standing on the side of the interstate in a random place shooting laser gun through a slightly open door back at the traffic. In 5 miles another one, standing on a ramp sideways and again pointing laser through driver's window. Was actually pulled over on empty I-287 on early Saturday morning for going just 73mph in 65mph zone. Path to Blue becomes more treacherous than skiing Paradise.

Mixed impressions today. Weather and conditions were great, reminded me of mid December - moderately cold, nice grippy snow w/o all that choppiness or sugar, hard to believe that it's almost March. Paradise and Lazy had the best hero snow. Sidewinder was in worse shape, I could feel occasional icy spots, and the skis would often slide sideways if loaded. Switchback was just OK, and Razor was closed for BMR. Lots of snowmaking across the mountain. They completely closed lower Sidewinder and blew mounds of snow on top of the quad. I wonder if the idea is to push it down the Coming Soon trail. Would be fun if so. Somebody on the lift said that the long-term forecast is calling for cold March, so the season is far from being over. Bad part was that Blue managed to screw up what would otherwise be a perfect night. Six pack didn't work, so by 7 lines at the Quad were up to the turnstiles, and no freaking line management! People would just ride in pairs, kids would cut the line ("oh, I have friends over there"), I felt like it was middle of a weekend rather than a Wednesday night. Stupid thing is that there weren't that many people. The slopes felt empty, but lines were unbelievable sometimes.

Sounds like I need to be at Blue tonight!

Just to clarify so that Salty could go and list his RTMs on craigslist already... The pic shows the skis flat, but you're talking about adjustable bindings. So, will Salty get just the planks or a complete package? -
Yeah, we're looking at you, @enjoralas
-
I didn't understand from the report if you actually went down the new trail.
-
@0mg, can you message me here regarding the cards? Or create a post on craigslist, if you prefer.
-
Ugh. Kills me when they do it and let chairs go empty.

Webcams show dense fog everywhere except for Home Stretch. I figure, slalom race's been cancelled? -

Whoa, it's almost a crime to keep Stocklies locked up in the basement. I highly appreciate the offer, actually had a chance of riding SR88 for a day lately, but am currently in the process of getting a pair of Lasers. Will likely take a week or two. Thanks! -

Not sure why so many complaints about the snow... Yeah, there was some sugar, but in reasonable amounts. Compare this to early Jan when all trails turned to shit literally after a couple of runs. Today there was a firm frozen base, and while sugar did form, it wasn't that bad at all. Well, maaaay be some places like lower park or Burma got real bad real soon, but why would you hang around those places anyway? In short, it wasn't the snow that made me quit around 1pm, it's the crowds and maneuvering between them that became annoying. Plus they closed Vista Room for some private event, and made everybody take their stuff from it. Patrollers really seem to be cracking down on Paradise bombers. I was able to do two fast runs first thing in the morning while the trails were still empty, but after that every time I went there, there was always somebody in red jacket either whistling or staring at my every move. Not worth it. Sidewinder was not that crowded all day long, and Switchback welcomed me with the lack of ice. Really unusual for Switchback. Dreamweaver was used for race warmup early in the day, and was crowded later. Two surprises in the ski department. One was GSS not showing any love to his Atomics, and the other one was some random guy on Stocklis. Don't get to see them often here, and he even had a pugski sticker on them. Yet, the moment I started to feel a little bit excited, he told me that he was going to switch the Stocklis for Kores due to snow conditions. Ugh. Races were fun to watch, they got quite lucky with the weather (lest we forget about some rain tonight). So all in all, it was a pretty good day today.
