So I'm trying to plan my day tomorrow... It seems that there is not much new snow at BM, and 18" at CB, is that right? -
So, the day was meh... Like I've said, the snow was sticky, strong headwind was causing even more slowdown, and the express didn't work because apparently it's fed from another power line on top, and that was down. The road to Shawnee was blocked on one side by a fallen tree, and partially blocked on the other by a tree hanging on wires, leaving only one lane through. Nothing worked in the neighborhood, we couldn't buy breakfast at Wawa like we usually do, and whatever they could offer in the lodge was abysmal. Croissant with cheese, eggs and something that looked like canned grilled meat. Yuck. When we left, there was still no power or cell service nearby, and for that matter most of Rt 46 and 31 on our way back home in NJ didn't have working traffic lights.

Sticky, slow snow mixed with a bunch of debris from the trees.

No power in the entire area EXCEPT for the mountain. Cell service down as well, but hooray to WiFi. Opening delayed until 9, closing at 5 despite what the website says.

We lost power in NJ

No kidding! Weren't you annoyed with RFID earlier this season and liked the good old CB tickets? The scanning part is dumb, they started doing that at JF too this year, and I really don't get the point. -
NVM. I got confused.

I think I caught the last question there. Invasion in Saving Private Ryan? How did they cheat?

Heavy mash everywhere I go. Surprisingly almost no people.

For whatever it's worth, I actually managed to try a bunch of skis last Wed including RTMs 172/84. Whether it was coincidence or not (fog was slowly dissipating and air was warming up), but I found RTMs to be the best on that devoid of snow and icy Paradise. Crazy smooth and supportive. Even Stocklis felt meh compared to them at that hour.

Can't relate. But I already told you, I've never skied west before. Might as well try. That will throw a trip to Switzerland down the drain for sure, but between a single big over-planned trip and a bunch of smaller ad-hoc ones, the smaller ones may as well be the winner.

I'm not sure what you're surprised of all of a sudden. How was your interview?

Oh yeah... I was going by this... https://www.coloradoski.com/resort-season-dates And still managed to miss it. Suddenly it all gets exciting... May be I should fly into Denver rather than Aspen, LOL.

So, I'm figuring SKIBIG3 shouldn't be too different from this?

I hate you. In the best possible way. Where is this place?

I appreciate the offer. I'm trying to do something this spring, however if I do come, it's gonna be for a week and probably with a company, so charging the trip to the pass would really be ideal. And I just checked the closing dates of all CO resorts, they'll all be closed by 05/06, just when I could steal a day between other things.
-
Business trip. I love the place. Takes me a couple of days to acclimatize to the altitude. But people there, they're like robots. Pass me with a smile on a trail up w/o ever looking out of breath.
-
I'm gonna be there 05/06-05/11. Too bad the snow will be gone by then Seriously though, I've hiked many times up the mountain from Aspen in late May, that place didn't look too exciting. Saw quite a few terrifying tree trails, have never been to Snowmass, was just too late to see it. But either way, the Aspen is a celebrity skiing area, like Courchevel with all the $$ drawbacks, is it not?

I'm thinking of this. It really was a good season come back. Started terrible, then suddenly got a whole lot better, and Blue was sweetening this with a bunch of discount tickets. But then again, the thread's date is March, perhaps I should refresh my memory. It really felt back then that the season suddenly can go on into May.
-
The idea is to use the pass, not just go out of the blue. W/o pass going with just window rates anywhere in the US is a suicide. But I kinda like the idea of going to Mammoth late spring this year. Especially since the weather is so lousy here. Just need to squeeze out a week off work. Damn, it's either skiing sooner or camping later.
-
Nah, I distinctly remember that. There was also a late snowstorm around that time, and if Blue really wanted, they could ski into May. But they chose not to.

Last year there were talks of skiing into May.
