  1. Playful terrain for playful skis... A poll! How many of you bring your skis to JH and how many rent something new there?
  2. Why would you say "pleeeeeeeeze" when grading a student's essay? He's already piling a typo on top of a typo.
  3. Salty, wth? You're at CB and instead of skiing what you can ski, you wait in the hotel waiting for Stevenson to open?? What happened to all other lifts including the second express?
  4. Yeah, and come to think of it, people are talking ad nauseam about how they'll ski the trails that aren't even there. Non-stop. Hey, look, a foot, another one, 170cm more! Ugh!
  5. Ohhh, another foot registered on some ruler in a crevice way up top. Send me a PM when it actually makes a difference.
  6. Probably forecasting crowds (though there are none on the webcam yet) or scraped ice.
  7. Seriously though, even GSS's ski suck compared to this guy's one. Does anybody watch Eurosport here?
  8. Poor you. Must be suffering a lot. But as members of the endangered species we demand fair treatment.
  9. See?! I knew that long and fat was the routine BS that you throw at noobs here!
  10. Ммммм. I saw a guy last year at CB, and he was in this funny boots... They looked like ski boots, except the sole was a little longer and the tip had a little shovel. And he was really and seriously standing in the lift line and then getting down on those boots as if he was on skis. Now, I think you all have a long way to go to match the coolness of that guy. Salty's the closest though.
  11. Hey, don't scare me like this. IDK where you took these numbers from.
  12. It would be impossible to beat your story of having to come down to the lodge, so why even bother?
  13. "Talk shit"? Don't know where you found it. All I said was that he gravitated a lot toward you, and was bursting with excitement when finally ran into you and Jeff. If anyone is more unfair to salty is this forum. But he seems to like the treatment here anyway, so all's well.
  14. I'm grateful that the best of the best are still reading this.
  15. Your response is very characteristic. The story is not about whether BM is awesome or not. Every mountain is good in some way, BM has plenty of positives, get over them already. Dig this irony for a moment. A forum that has initially been formed because people didn't like the attitude of CB moderators has morphed into something not very much unlike what people had run from. Anybody who posts here something that doesn't praise the pure light of Blue in some way had better have some real thick skin. So, might it be that the lack of sponsorship and popularity can have at least something to do with the current state of mind of the surviving members? As for being quiet, it's hard to talk when Salty is chattering all the time, and I didn't get your remark about competitors at all. I hope you don't talk your customers to death when they come to you with business.
  16. I like the "Atomic" part of his nick and feel like it deserves a special treatment.
  17. So, @AtomicSkier has mentioned an interesting thing yesterday. Once upon a time there was an open minded group of people that roamed around PA mountains enjoying skiing all over the place. They didn't care too much whether it was JF, CB, BM or perhaps even MC and hated when moderators on a CB forum were removing each and every post that had even the slightest mention of BM. So that group got fed up by the censorship and formed a forum, not unlike this one, where they could talk about anything, but the talk was of course ski-centered. Due to its openness the forum got so much traction that there were hundreds of people following it. At the peak of its popularity members were handed out free tickets to some mountains and then would show up in pretty big crowds, like 50 people a time, were given private rooms in lodges to hang out, and those days were the original glorious PASR days. Then some got married, some had injuries, some just got tired of skiing, the hypnotizing blue light has pushed all but one mountain in the shadow, and whoever was not with the light had to be against it, and chose to stop posting. The remnants of that forum still have all those other mountains listed on it, but invariably the conversation in each and every thread rotates about the light, the true blue light that lights the path for the few remaining ones. Now, I wasn't really paying attention too much, as I was still digesting the previous conversation about JH, and may have gotten many things wrong, but the story just fascinates me. Wow, just Wow, as GSS likes to say.
  18. Once in a blue moon we have a giant skating rink almost right in the backyard. It's a retention basin. One year it first snowed and rained quite a lot, and then suddenly it all froze, and froze real well. So we ended up with a skating rink the size of a soccer field. All nice, level and smooth. Had a blast for a few days.
  19. It's gonna be NO snow tomorrow morning. At least around here. I had FIOS install rescheduled because everything was buried under huge piles of snow, and now it's all almost completely gone.
  20. I think he's coming to BM mostly because of you. Not you in particular, but you as a group. He couldn't get off his phone while skiing with me and it was pretty obvious that he'd rather wait on top of the 6-pack for more company than be on a quad where chances of meeting others seemed slim.
  21. Well, if you ski for the whole day it's nice to be able to stop somewhere and have a lunch. You don't have to sit inside, if it's not too cold, they have decent sitting area with fireplace and a bar on top. Even without bar, they have ice inside, and I used to just bring rum with me. Skiing was sooo much better after a break like this. Beer is what I wouldn't drink for sure. Forces an early come back to the lodge.
  22. Well, I realized yesterday where he got his habit of skiing on one ski in the beginning of each run
  23. Oh come on. It was a compliment. And I expected more of this thread after so vivid and detailed report of GSS troubles and really good skiing. Yet it died around second page.
  24. Parking at the top is the way to do it! Less driving, cozier lodge, and everybody who needs a lesson is intercepted and rerouted to the valley. And hey, restrooms are cleaner too
  25. Find it hard to believe that such a cool dude as yourself would ski with gapers past noon.
