  1. For a week. Arlberg. https://www.bergfex.com/stanton-stchristoph/panorama/ It's one giant ski area, once on the snow you can roam around by taking lifts and skiing down. We'll be living in Warth, which is the quieter place compared to the more famous and hence busy St. Anton and Lech.
  2. Oh, you're so full of yourself. Have you ever skied Alps? I'll go now and put a bunch of thanks to GSS's post who actually took some time to explain what's going on.
  3. I'm genuinely interested. Do find it.
  4. Oh, that's not even complaining yet. You just keep on posting some abstract numbers, so I get all excited that heeeey, that might be a good next year trip, open their map and then... Oops. But "It's all normal", GSS says. And I sigh with relief and continue planning.
  5. Salty please lend him your GoPro. I want to see this! GSS straighlining JH.
  6. I haven't been there, that's all. Kind of deceiving of them to say that they had a 200" of snowfall this season.
  7. With this insane amount of snow, why are they not fully open yet?
  8. Heh, I wasn't impressed one time when I was in a chair behind three girls of about mid school age, on skis, with rap booming from one of their backpacks.
  9. Oh, they're good at that. I was riding with a company in that gondola yesterday. One was so wasted, he was cheering every boarder below with a hash and thunderous "Har!" and in-between the cheers was apologizing for being such a fucking asshole (literally) to a group of what seemed like scared japanese skiers that had to endure the torture of sharing the ride.
  10. They were selling individual tickets at pre-season triple ticket rates on Cyber Monday, so I stocked up.
  11. I'm going to Austria about same time you're flying to JH.
  12. It's a good thing they do this flash sale. At some point I was even going to visit Buckmans on my way to BM to pick this triple ticket up. They had it in stock while CB already closed the sales.
  13. Well, at least we're not expecting to get paid for skiing something other than BM and JH
  14. How?? Did you grab 4 of those 24 limited cards from Princeton ski club?
  15. Dude, plenty of that in big mountains. Get used to it while you can. The real bad part though is that here you have to do it often.
  16. Well, you know what, that's been my attitude for years. I've even been less than enthusiastic about getting that WNEP card this year because contrary to the PA Card instead of BM it has MC on it. I've been to MC many times in the past, long, very long ago. I remember visiting it in early spring with the South/Bear peaks completely melt down while there was still snow on Shawnee, remember struggling with ice on the Granite peak and falling hard on the Vernon. It was kind of hit and miss most of the time, the tickets were cheap, so were the season passes, and since driving distance to MC or PA mountains for was kind of the same, on average I gravitated toward PA. But this year, due to the cold weather and good opportunity of snowmaking in NJ, conditions at MC have taken me by surprise. I am actually sorry for not visiting it earlier this January while it was cold. With tomorrow's rain and increased temperatures, IDK what it will be like in a week. But in my books yesterday's MC was far, far better than my this year's visits to Shawnee, JFBB and even BM because frankly I know most of nearby PA mountains by heart now, sometimes it's hard to stay on the lift w/o counting time till the next lodge visit because you know what, it's the same run over and over again, the same one you've skied 5 times this visit and a gazillion times this or prior seasons. At MC yesterday snow conditions were as good as at BM. And not for a moment did I feel bored of traversing a familiar terrain. It was pure joy of good snow and fun of relearning all the major trails and connectors.
  17. Yeah, you're right. I should've said "irrational" or "conservative", children generally are more inclined to explore. You all crack me up. "I've read it sucks", "I've studied map, and it's no good". I've just been there. It's awesome NOW. Don't know what's gonna be there in a week or two. I admit, on average snow here is not good. But you're all like a broken record. True Blue... Light of Blue... Really, whatever makes you feel good. Yeah BM is great. This doesn't mean there's not something better. Come out of your comfy circles and see for yourself.
  18. What I really loved was Dolomites. There we didn't have enough hours in a week to explore them all.
  19. Nah. Snow is not consistent here to justify a pass. Plus I would rather not pledge allegiance and keep my freedom instead. I'll be at Blue this Monday, at MC Wednesday and probably next weekend too. Need to finish it up while there's still snow
  20. I'm not trying to convince you, lol. But it's a kind of childish attitude. Like my daughter who's conservative to the extreme. Between White Face and Jack Frost she would've picked JF simply because she's never been at WF, and is hesitant or afraid to try.
  21. Oh, fuck! It's already 8, and that gondola lift is closing at 8:30. Time certainly flies here. I came at 3, and really don't remember where these 5 hours went. Must be on that single meditative lift run. I don't think I'll make it to Vernon and back
  22. Well, the terrain is really vast. And the trails vary a lot. I don't remember seeing it this open, perhaps you've been constrained in the past as well. Right now I'm inclined to just stay at Bear/South peak and loop it, it's just that good, but need to make an effort and come back to the other side. Because it's even better there.
  23. Interestingly, MC uniform is also blue.
  24. It's just a connecting lift. How many peaks do you have at CB?? Terrain here surpasses every other mountain nearby. When there's snow
  25. Haha. It was a little foolish of me to wait for the racers to finish. It's like Razor... But I found myself a nice Lazy-like long trail and am exploiting it all the way
