  1. and i guess theres not much competition out there, so they can charge what they want- still though- a ripoff
  2. just checked 73 dollars for an adult weekend ticket at seven springs....what is this stowe??
  3. yeah, why is eelios posting all these crappy/pointless threads? I just want to ski and talk about skiing...
  4. why is this even a topic...this is ridiculous
  5. just came in from outside, after 2 more hours down here in philly we're up to about 9-10 inches, up 4-5 inches from 2 hours ago!
  6. just got back in from outside- about 5-5.5 inches from this 2nd round of the storm in philly
  7. stopped snowing here in philly for now...waiting for the next wave...ended up with about 3-4 inches
  8. still snowing in philly- probably about 4 inches on the ground- exceeding almost anyones expectations/predictions for this morning
  9. just went outside 3 inches and from what the weather looks, down in philly we'll miss precipitation in the form of rain- will get some sleet/ice, but then it will stop...
  10. already have about 2 inches down here in philly-waiting for it to change to sleet, then rain, then a bunch of snow!
  11. everyones just not happy about it, and i wouldnt be either if i ever went to sno...
  12. less than an inch in philly...
  13. looks great, havent been up their in 6-7 years, used to go up almost every year. Gotta get back on Mansfield and show the front four whose boss
  14. I did enjoy gore, but i think i would have liked it more if everything was open. It wasnt too bad of a drive up- only 4 hours to lake george (where we stayed) and then about 30-45 minutes to gore from there- which is a pain cause i just wanted to get there and ski, but thats how it is cause there arent any hotels worth staying at near gore, plus theres no where to eat around gore. The main reason we went there was because we scored a couple of free passes, but I think I would rather drive further and head up to sugarbush, stowe, or smugglers notch. The trails there are steeper and to me the snow is better. But it sure was ncie skiing in powder on wednesday. Yeah, my bad- i only took like 3 pictures, shouldve pulled the camera out and snapped a few more, but ill keep the memories.
  15. skied again today- totally wish burnt ridge was open- seems like it might be opening up soon. Also, didnt take many pictures- snow yesterday and windy today, so I just wanted to ski and not worry about it. Today was very windy with wind swept powder/ice. But all in all another good day. Left at 2 and drove back down to bethlehem. Would definitely go again, but would wait for more trails to be open. Coca cola wednesday at 38 bucks and free today with warren miller freebies!! skied again today- totally wish burnt ridge was open- seems like it might be opening up soon. 16. well what can I say about this first day, but wow! Woke up at 7, looked out the window and saw at least 6-7 inches piled up (they were only supposed to get 2 overnight, so i was stoked) Left my hotel at like 7:45 from lake george and got to Gore at 845, a little bit later then i wanted, but the roads were a mess. Luckily no traffic. Gave the ticket people our coca cola item and got our 38 dollar ticket, nice!! Took the first ride up the gondola, and our first 3 or 4 runs were an untracked 7-8 inches of nice powder. Did a bunch of blues to start the day, then took a few runs up to the summit on the slow quad they have- not complaining. The mountain overall is not too challenging but they do have some nice steep moguled up black runs, but today was just nice cause it snowed all day and they probably picked up another 5-6 inches during the day. So the skiing was nice all day, and they didnt groom any of the trails like PA does after they get a storm, so powder everywhere the whole day, and liftlines were never longer than 30 seconds. At lunch grabbed a nice chicken finger basket from the cafeteria, along with the double chocolate brownie! Went back out and did a bunch more runs- overall we probably got in 15-20 runs from the different lifts that were running. Tomorrow will be using my free ticket from warren miller movie and i'm sure will be nice packed powder all day tomorrow!!
  17. just got up to lake george and waiting for the storm, not supposed to get too much, but looking forward to skiing gore tomorrow!
  18. supposed to be driving up to ny to gore tomorrow and not leaving til 6/7 pm- hoping that will be early enough to get just ahead of the storm then skiing wednesday at gore and thursday at stratton most likely!! Hoping to have some nice powder for both days!
  19. Didnt really know where to put this one, but anyways. Went up to spring only because I had a couple free passes from seeing the warren miller film this year in philly. Also because figured it would be a decent place for my gf (first timer today) to go. Got to the mountain at about 2ish, got the rentals for her and got to the slopes. Overall its a very small place, but has a nice feeling to it other than the skiers in jeans.... Old time lodge and lifts. The whole mountain only has basically 5 or 6 ways down. Snow was nice and did get some untracked powder on the sides of the trails when I wasnt helping her out. By the time 5 rolled around the school kids were piling in and we decided to leave. Probably got about 12 runs in with her and she did well for her first time. Just not much vert in those 12 runs as its only about 400 feet of it. They do have 2 terrain parks for those who care. One small and the other medium with a decent flat box and a few other decent features. Overall it would be a great place to take someone who has never skied or rode before to teach them during the day on a weekday, but other than that, would much rather go someplace else.
  20. Im a first year grad student, and so far have just skied 3 days this year- each with some sort of discount, overall with the discount for 3 days i paid 77 dollars, if there were no discounts it would have cost roughly 150. So its just nice to have the discount cause otherwise i would be down a lot more money that couldve gone towards rent/food/credits for college, cause as a musician in grad school there are not many internships or jobs.....
  21. i think the main reason they do it is so they draw the college kids into their resort- i mean to me it was a draw to drive an hour and a half to elk for the 20 dollar ticket otherwise i would not have gone if i would have paid the same price. And say they draw only 100 college kids, that's $2,000 they would not have gotten.
  22. i mean what does it matter to you if grad students or older undergards get discounts on lift tickets??
  23. couldnt agree with you more
  24. well, for me, the only reasons that I go to certain areas are because of their discounts- so if I wouldnt be able to get them than they wont be getting any money out of me, and I'll go somewhere else instead
  25. right, but theres a ton of people that go straight to get their masters and dont have a job yet...
