Don't want to jump in front of anyone, but i'd be interested in the dukes or freerides. I'm picking up some boots next month from a buddy in new mexico that have walk/ski that, while not touring boots, will be better than my rock hard langes.

Take European delivery of some snow tires.

I have been eyeing up some big hills in a nature preserve near my house which has made me want a touring setup too. Since I dont have the cash, i ordered a pair of snowshoes yesterday that work with ski boots and i can strap my skis to my pack. Now that i made the order i'm sure it won't snow again this year.

Tree limbs on the ground, power out, generator cranking, neighbors hating.

Where you tour at?

Gotta lay down a paper ass gasket.

I generally can't take a dump until I've had a cup of coffee, but once I do better get out my way.

I'm telling you, just pull over and rip the pocket off your shirt!

Good stuff! Actually, on Boomer they did groom a strip to the left of the bumps for those just getting comfortable in moguls (or for those like me that are comfortable in moguls but suck at skiing them).

Had a fun solo session today. Did 1 or 2 top to bottom runs, but the long haul lift wasn't running while I was there (left at noon). Snow conditions were good. Some scrapy spots in the bumps, but nothing too bad. I alternated between Smoke, Boomer and White Lighting for most of the morning. I forgot how much fun the right side of Smoke is - surprisingly steep and the snow was grippy enough to ski it like you know what you are doing. Took my first fall of the year on White Lightning. Caught a tip but luckily Slim Slidell knows how to self arrest! New lodge was looking good as well like others have mentioned. I'm hoping to get back up there at least one more time this season, Montage is always a perfect change of pace for me.

Would love to but will be playing pin the tail on the donkey with a bunch of three year olds at my son's birthday party.
-
Going to head up tomorrow to check out the new Montage. Anybody else?
-
Good shit, will make sure to get a day in up there this year.

Is Shawnee actually fun? I was under the impression that it is lame and didn't think it was worth my time.
-
I vote for montage. Frost would be ok too.

I'm wondering what Ski Roundtop is like if anybody has been there. I have a work thing not too far from there on Wednesday and I'm thinking about bringing the skis and checking it out.

Poopenhasen. Is that Dutch?

Ugh. I hate to sound like an old curmudgeon, but look at that picture and imagine how the natural beauty will be ruined with a lift going right up the middle. I guess i gotta get into touring.
-
Not hating on Frost because I like it there, but with the slow lifts and the short runs you are going to get a lot less accomplished in an hour private lesson than you would somewhere with a high speed lift and a little more vert. Although you will get more verbal instruction on the lift.

Any pics of the "athletes"?

Saturday is my only chance but at least shouldn't be crowded!

The following:- fill camelback with hot water (so it won't freeze) and drink water on every lift ride. - stay somewhere at or below 7,500 feet if possible so the body can recover. - first ski day take it a little easier than normal - limit the beer and caffeine - don't hike for turns first day (unless big storm then fuck it) - try to sleep enough Pretty basic but works for me. I only have to worry about it skiing where I'm someplace that gets above 11 or 12,000 feet, otherwise I would just go hard each day and drink lots of beer at night.
