Hey guys, I was the park guy at shawnee about two years back and now im finishing shool next fall in Killington VT (Green Mountain College). While being at school I was able to get money to build some jibs and even started up a new program called the "Jib Yard". The jib yard gives students the chance to shred (yea and ski) after the mountain closes at four. Its actually in the front yard of the housing building called the lodge. I just finished a video on MM (so the quality kinda sucks) tell me what you think.

Killington or Mount Snow For The Weekend? Thoughts?
parkbuilder replied to Ski4Food's topic in General Chat
Strongly dissagree... Hit up K-town this weekend. Employee passes are not valid friday-sunday. Especially take into account that most jobs have not started, but a ton of people who already went through orientation with the mountain already have their passes. Killington has excellent snow coverage at the moment and yes my boys from GMC were at MT. Snow and told me it was kick ass, but we will be open top to bottom with a park. The entire northridge side has a massive amount of snow coverage so trails like rime, reason, double dipper, Great Northern, East fall will be ready to go. Also a bunch of trails like bunny buster and mouse trap on Snowdon will be open. Here it is fresh from the web-site: Tuesday, November 13, 2007 Report News: Snowmaking has been underway on 19 trails as we gear up for opening day on November 16. We'll be skiing and riding off Killington and Snowdon peaks. We'll update you with a projected trail and lift count later this week as we approach opening day. Check out the new filtering functionality of the snow report by clicking on "Trail Report" below. Our Park and Pipe Crew is welding, grinding and painting new features that will debut opening day at our early-season terrain park on Reason. The first event of the season - the Loaded Turkey Rail Jam 4 2/3 - takes place on Sunday, Nov. 18. Killington will offer Blue Square and Black Diamond Trails only, and all skier/rider services will be available at the K-1 Lodge. MT snow has 12 trails in operation now. -

Killington Update for this upcoming season.
parkbuilder replied to Papasteeze's topic in General Chat
Already after being in school my second year at GMC, Powdr means business. Pure and simple. A resort the size of Killington will make money no matter if they open first, second, third, or fourth. Because of environmental impacts and the decreased skier visits in recent years, Killington wants to focus more on the customer -

No Park should ever get run down. No potential guests should see a park when its "down." Professionalism comes above eveything. You never know who rides through your final product. I think what you meant to say was that snow melts... but thats when you put in overnight hours and revamp a few features at a time. Get the job done.

I'm almost positive Mark (the assistant under Shaun) is heading day to day operations for parks this year. They are already in the shop preparing features... haven't heard a word about Planet. I'll keep digging. Yea i was right Mark is running the show... http://media.intrawest.com/mountaincreek/i...iblab_large.jpg

Well I do go to college and I am earing a Resort and Hospitality Degree... from an Environmental Liberal Arts school... In Killington VT. And K2 is absoultly right. There a major factors at play that day to day skiers can't even fathom. Powdr Corp and SP land will do a great job... Regarding the interconnect (pico/killy) they have been paying $5mil a year in land development permits to complete the project, but we all know ASC ( ) Here is some more helpful info... Killington sale CLOSES! Thank God! http://www.skiareamanagement.com/news/article.php?tid=1476

...weird choice of words, but anyway... Its good to experiment with new setups, you can gather opinions and adapt to peoples preferences. That is how parks have progressed and continue to make newer, fresher standards.
