Hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know that we have posted some pics of Shawnee's park on our web-site. Click Here to check them out. I also wanted to share that prep work for the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard series has begun, as the the crew and I have started to plan out the slopestyle course for the Feb. 12th event. Look for more technical features and setups in the park as we draw closer to the event. Construction will begin overnight this week as we re-vamp our jumps and overall setups in the park. I hope to see everyone soon!

Oh my God...

Congrats steven (nipples) for winning the next snow search event (skier's division) Check it out at Shawnee's Web-Site. More pics of this year's park to be added soon!

Shawnee has been pumping out as much snow as possible, we are still 100% open and have a decent amount of new snow in the park for some feature tweaking...

QUOTE(Papasteeze @ Jan 23 2006, 07:13 AM) Check out Shawnees park!!!!!!!! Better than Blue in a lot of ways... Certainly worth the lift ticket with these weather conditions the way they have been on sunday 1-22-06 Props Keith.. You have a hidden gem well under the radar over there. Watch out for Noobs.... Shout your drops all the way down. to the hits, doesn't anyone look above them before they drop anymore? Yesterday was strange Shawnees conditions at 3:30 pm were noticibly superior to Camelback at 5pm - we might have as well been in two different areas of the country. Thanks steeze, it was great to see some pasr reps there for next snow yesterday. Once the weather begins to cooperate we are hoping to begin construction on a beginner park as well. The park itself will see some more changes as weather permits, even more than the ones that were done this past week. Hope to see some more people come out to Shawnee soon. And thanks again for the comments!

The park will stay open all day Sunday hopefully... If it does close it will be back open by 1pm. Re-construction continued last night and will go through Saturday night, moving features and changing setups. Yup the downrail will be installed... along with a reshaped battleship. The kink-box is perfect now, not as low in the ground... and the C-box was moved to its new location along with the Mailbox. But I'm gonna make you come see those features for yourselves

Shawnee's park should be at peak conditions for Sunday.

I will possibly post something soon. I'm goona check with the boss first to see if they want that infomation given out.

Well compared to Shawnee's park in the past, I'm told its the best it has ever been. I'm going to ask you not to compare it to Mountain Creek. Mountain Creek really blows any park in the area out of the water. I myself have ridden there for 6 years before taking the job at Shawnee. Shawnee has taken some big leaps and bounds form years past, and I think is headed in the right direction. Hopefully for the next few days we can get everything prepared for your sunday visit. I really want to check out Bear and Blue, I'm told that their parks are quite good. If you see me on sunday give a holla, (I'm the guy with the shovel!)

Shawnee lost power, believe it or not it can happen everywhere else.

Well so far we have plowed over the second jump and built up the landing, so for now its just a roller. The Rainbow Box we elevated 3'-4' higher so you are able to slide more of the box. The kink box was also raised to give a more steep downslope to the feature. And the last plateus landing was smoothed evenly to have a more mellow landing for the kinkbox. Everything else is buried from our snowmaking. I will be doing some more work tommorow, and after this rain... plan on the second jump to be re-constructed.
-
Thats measured from lip to knuckle. Haha, lip to end of the landing If that were the case we could claim a 75' jump too! Just playin tho. We are trying to introduce slightly more advanced features than in years past. In my opinion and others as well, Shawnee really has taken a big step in the right direction this year with their park. Once we get some snowmaking up there and replenish our snow supply, re-construction can continue. I can't stress enough the amount of snow and manpower needed to do this job (Not to mention one hell of a grooming staff) When we get what we need from mother nature, I can assure you that myself and shawnee will not rest until we deliver a park that the Skiers and Riders will want to call home. Pray for cold, and pray for snow!
-
well the first jump is at 40'. We are hoping to get better weather so we can do more work to everything. The second set of jumps are at about 25' and 35', hopefully when we get some colder temps we can move that second jump to around 45'-50' pray for cold!

flat rail, flat-down-flat, rainbow, down-flat-down, down-flat, crooked mailbox. So yes, we have rails, yet little time to film.
-
Great job Matt. That was a long day of work but it looks like it was all worth it. We had a few skiers there that day but I would love to see more throwing down daily. Please pray for some cold weather so we can really get our park going more crazy than it already is!

Hey guys... work will NOT be done tonight to install the down rail and fix the battleship. The forcast is way to warm for the week (40's-50's) and we need to stay focused on keeping the trail open rather than tracking everything up with the cat. I'll keep everyone posted when I hear good news.
-
People, You actually think that a 75' jump is going to happen around here? It seems to me that people are overstepping their bounds when you build something that big south of the major resorts of the northeast. There is not enough people here in this area that can handle a jump of that magnitude. The biggest I have ever hit in our area was the 60' at MC last year. And that I think... was my limit. Use your heads guys, get a more realistic number for your jumps. If your just guessing the size, than get a measuring tape and roll out 75'. Most mountains around here DO NOT have the pitch or run-in length to put something in that big. Take it from someone who knows. haha thats too funny. If you do pull it off i wanna see some vids, because that would be crazy!

Everyone listen up... We started revamping the park last night. I just worked 19 hrs straight getting this park ready and here is what we did: 40' booter (single kicker) on the first jump. The second jump will be done tonight to about 40' (also one kicker.) The straight box was moved on top of the step-up roller to create a 8' gap to flat box into a mellow tranny. The dual box was moved to where the straight box used to be and has a streetstyle setup to it. The street style down rail will be installed tonight and the battleship will be moved to where the straight rail is now. all of the landings are perfect. You wanted bigger... and we delivered! RIDE SHAWNEE!
