The FD box turned around so it's an UF w/ a gap Down box. It's pretty beasty if I do say so myself.

I left around 9 and there was probably about an inch already. Huge snowflakes too.

The barrel bonk was not even supposed to be open today. I was hoping it was going to get shaped better by the groomer last night but it didn't. It will be open tomorrow though. The only reason it appeared to be open was because people kept taking my bamboo away .

you're completely right. thats is ridiculous. check your pm's

i'm kinda upset area 51 is no longer in there.

As far as how we shaped the staircase today the snow wasn't exactly cooperating. It's set up right under the one snow gun so it can be kinda evil at times. Whenever there are fluctuating temps any time that the guns are on it will create different layers of snow/ice. Which makes for difficult shaping, cutting, and building. During yesterdays and last nights blowing it seems to have done plenty of it. For the rail I tried packing snow blocks from the side of the trail up closer to and under the rail but the more I put on the more the snow didn't want to stay. Anything that did stay was hardly workable as far as cutting and shaping. Getting snow up close to stay is something that the groomer will have to do next time. The box though had more snow up close so we tried making a wide flat approach. Probably the most "urban" thing out there and I only saw a handful of people hit it all day. It's all good though. More stuff to come soon. Very soon.

this morning when we saw how icy the landing to that box was we debated even opening it until mid day so it could soften up. people demanded it so we opened it. a couple people wanted a wide butter pad type thing in front of it so we tried it. they seemed to like it so we just left it wide and flat.

The newly blown snow is perfect right now. 4 of us were out this morning shaping and cutting before 9 so everything looks pretty for you guys haha. As soon as I go back out I'm gonna start diggin the lil' stairs. LATER!

I took some time away from the firing squad of snow guns and was sketching some stuff tonight. If anyone wants to sketch some stuff out on paper along with a description of what it is/how its set up throw it in the suggestion box in the lodge or flag us down and show us your scribbles.

When everyone is seeing park crew just riding theres probably a 70% chance they aren't even on the clock. I'm usually up there everyday either working or just riding and a lot of the other guys do the same. You guys are right though, this time in the beginning of the season when its relatively slow is the best time to learn everything. With only a handful of "veterans" that came back, we're spread kind of thin. Trust me though, you all will see major improvements shortly.

Some of the stuff hasn't been maintained to par I agree, but most of the guys on park crew this year are new. For the most part they've been taught what to do but they just need to get some practice of how to maintain things and procedures to be taken. Believe it or not but there is a lot of technical stuff for them to know and that knowledge is only as good as the on-snow experience they have. We've only been open for a week and half a day so they don't have much yet. Give us a minute and we'll get all the nOObs whipped into shape, get some snow on the ground, and we can build more than a few little jumps with rails after them haha.

wait. are you talking back to yourself?
-
rain stopped around 6 right when i got there. it actually wasnt bad at all for the lack of snow. probably better than the last 2 or 3 days
-
I think that was pummeled by a groomer or something.
-
Patience young one. Confucius say, the crazier the sh*t be the more snow you need. In all seriousness though. There wasn't as much snow as it looked from a distance. Hope everything looked alright cosmetically though. I dug for 6 straight hours this morning and Andy probably put in enough hours in the past couple days to buy himself a decent sized tropical island. You know, the ones with the coconuts and little sand crabs. K, Buh Bye.

haha thats like asking if snow is cold.
-
shit man that might cause an electrical overload and then they wont be able to make snow
-
....yeah probably. ha

In that sentence not only are you wrong but you completely contradict yourself. #1 - If Bear didn't realize this isn't three years ago, the park and most of the the rest of the mountain would still be in the stone age compared to what it is now. #2 - Bear Creek IS what you call a "big gun". It's just that a few people can't seem to come to terms with the fact that if they want to get the best possible experience in the region they might have to drive an extra half hour or so to get it. Which in turn makes them upset that the closest mountain to them does not offer what Bear does. #3 - Here is where you contradict yourself. Return to #1, read, and rethink what "stepping up game" is. Are you pissed that when you saw snow being blown and snow falling you got your hopes up? I am, but that's my fault for getting my hopes up. Bear has their reasons and they are reasonable and have clearly stated them. And as far as rail jams go anything with the prefix "pre", as in PRE Season Rail Jam, consider yourself lucky if it happens at all. They tried to pull something together but it fell through. I for one was looking forward to be riding and hangin' with some sweet ass people. But it's really not that big of a deal at all. Pure logic indicates that Bear will be open shortly so I'm happy with that. This time last year it was rainy and disgusting out. However it turned out though rail jam or not right now I'm just glad to see some white stuff on the ground and still coming down.

yeah i hope so

we'll know later this afternoon
