So are they gonna open anything for thanksgiving other than a little terrain park on the tubing hill? If so, that seems dumb.
-
I think hes just talking about snowmaking
-
Should be interesting....I hope they blow tonight......itd be great to ski the day after thanksgiving
-
Sick! Elk could be the first place open in PA if they felt like it and invested in their snowmaking....they're temps are always lower than the rest of PA

If you want a place to go thats cheap and for non-park riding, gore is a great place. I went there for 5 days once for $300 lift and lodging. Its a great mountain for freeriding. They have little to no park setup. Theres usually a jump or two and a couple poorly setup rails. Gore is one of my favorite mountains along with Pico and Elk. I like the secluded, non-commercialized feel of them.

at least you don't have size 15 feet like me and can't find boots......or a decently wide board anywhere

Article I know a lot of people have probably seen this already, but I thought it was worth discussion. Sunspot activity has dropped substantially this year to the point that there have been 0 sunspots in the past month. This is the first time that has happened since 1913. Historically, when sunspots stop occurring, we experience global cooling like the mini ice age that happened from around the 1400s to the early 1700s. If something that bad happens again, it would devastate our agricultural system, but it would probably be the return of poe skiing to PA Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be catastrophe, but it would be nice for temps to drop a bit around here so we could get some more snow. Something moderate like this would probably be great for the skiing and winter clothing industry.

Oops.... Thanks doug.... We graduated in may... We live in Delaware now so hopefully I'll get some more days in at blue this year. How far of a drive into Canada is whistler?

So I'm getting married in May and I've convinced my fiance that a trip out west would be a fun idea for a honeymoon. She even suggested a day or two of skiing even though shes not really into it. I was wondering what resorts typically stay open for late season turns. I know A-basin does and also Snowbird. What other resorts tend to stay open into mid to late may?

they do this everywhere else in the world... I'm sure pa could handle it too. The park aspect of it is a great idea... As long as the photogs were trained to stay out of the way.

That looks badass....I'm gonna have to check that video out

Was that panorama from Steamboat taken from the top of Morningside Peak coming down skiers left of the chutes?

What hot springs did you go to....I went to the strawberry park hot springs...sketchiest ride ever to get out there...we went at night too and it was so dark you couldn't tell if anyone was clothed or not...lots of stars though

Sick....i have one of those in my avatar, I've always wanted to hit one. I wish I wasn't living in Florida right now or else it would definitely be worth a trip to sno just for that
-
haha thanks...it just so happened to be the most basic disposable camera out there. I picked it because I wouldn't have to worry about batteries draining or anything like that.

Yea, it was pretty nice waking up to fresh snow every day. I gotta get out west again. I'd like to go to Jackson Hole, Breckenridge, and Winter Park someday. They all look like they have some sick terrain. I gotta say that at Steamboat I didn't think the marked trails were any better than what I've seen in the east. Some of them were steeper, but for the most part they were just real wide open and boring. Im sure this is probably just steamboat because its a lower difficulty mountain aimed at families. After the first day, we stopped paying attention to any marked trails an stayed in the trees the whole time.
