Just got back, it was pretty good. Quite a few death cookies when I started at 7:45. After a little while they started to disappear. Once the snow softened up it was great. I did 12 runs off the Sullivan and 8 off the Glen lift through the park. They had an assortment of rails set up and one decent sized tabletop. On my second hit on the tabletop I was going a little fast and just about overshot the landing. The snow in the park was pretty shitty. Lots of ice and hardpack. They were blowing in the park all day while it was open. It was helping things a bit, but you had to be careful because you never knew what the surface was going to be like when you turned. Overall had a great time. I ducked out around 12:30 when things started to get crowded. I'm gonna enter in my stats now, I've never kept track of vert before but I'm gonna give it a go this season. Is there by any chance a website anywhere that lists the vert for different lifts at different mountains?

I'll be there, I'll try to make it to the top of the Sullivan at 9. I'd like to meet the legendary GrilledSteezeSandwich

Sure you don't want to scrap that trip and go to Camelback with me on Saturday?
-
Just got an email saying they're going to have 7 trails open on Saturday.....I'll be there....I wonder what they'll have set up on Rhodo?
-
fan guns still use compressed air. They need compressed air for the nuc nozzle to create a super cooled plume. If they don't use compressed air I'd be interested to know how they get around that.
-
They list the trails they're making snow on on the snow report page. Looks like two of the front four, and sunbowl down to the glen lift for rhodo. Hopefully they'll continue to cover other terrain as well.

I'll be there if they pull off a lift serviced trail

Unfortunately camelback just changed their website to say opening mid december..... and that snowmaking will start once the rain clears......I hope they aren't going to be faggles and not make snow tomorrow evening through the beginning of the week.
-
Anybody know if camelback blew any?

It looks like they may have a shot if they want to do it. I have faith. Come on ullr! It looks like they may have a shot if they want to do it. I have faith. Come on ullr!

I'm looking at the Dynastar Exclusive Active Blue & the Volkl Oceana ....... Do you guys think those are two good choices for what I'm looking for? ....btw I threw the $300 guideline out the window I realized I probably wasn't going to find anything good that cheap.

I just made my first Tee Gun last night. Does anyone have any experience making snow? I'd really like to build a fan gun one day, but I thought I'd start slow and build up to it.

Neither is Whiteface.....they've done a lot of regrading over the last few years to get rid of flat spots. They've also expanded a ton too. I'll definitely be going back to Gore before I go back to Killington.
-
Go to Gore...it sounds like it would fit your needs perfectly. Their lift tickets are good for Whiteface too so if you get bored with it you can drive to Whiteface for a day.
-
Go to Gore... its not as popular as other big resorts, but equally good and not crowded

Wow, those dudes in that video really rip. I hope I get that good someday

It isn't. It is fed back out into the grid and used by other people. PPL installs a special meter that reads how much power goes back out and subtracts it from your bill. If you end up with a negative bill, the negative amount carries over to the next month. If you still have a negative amount at the end of the year, they will pay you wholesale for the extra power.
-
PPL gets their power primarily from coal. The idea here is Blue would install the wind turbine and it would provide a chunk of their power. Any power they still need in addition to what the turbine produces will still come from PPL. If Blue put in enough wind turbines to produce more power than they use, PPL would pay them for the excess power generated and fed back into the grid. People do the same thing all the time with solar and small wind turbines at their houses, this is just on a larger scale.
-
To be honest, the size wind turbine they are talking about is a little out of my league at this point. Maybe someday down the road we'll be doing projects like that, but not yet.
-
I wonder if they have an installer lined up. I would love to put one up there. They could pay me with a lifetime season pass. Plus a couple hundred grand.
