  1. I am looking for a ski that I can ski park with but if the conditions turn out to be good I can have fun outside the park. I weigh 145 lbs and am 5'9." Someone has some Fischer Misfit 177s on craigslist for a good price. Are these good skis? I will be doing most of my skiing at Whistler I recently bought a pair of dalbello krypton boots off of ebay. They are brand new, but having used them I noticed significant up and down movement in my marker griffons, and a bit in my 4 year old px12 bindings. Could it be that the boots I bought are defective (in that the toe piece is too thin), or is it the bindings?
  2. Anybody know whats set up?
  3. Wolf Creek is amazing. That is actually where my avatar was taken. Basically fresh pow all day 5 days after a storm, fun terrain, and no lines whatsoever. I feel like Baker should be on the list. It is supposed to be a quite snowy place
  4. The snow guns are definitely running right now!

  6. yeah its always awesome to drive out of rainy vancouver into the snow. Unfortunately, I get kicked out of my house at the end of April, so to stay here for a while I have to do some serious bumming. Last year I spent around 2 weeks sleeping in my car in Whistler before driving back to PA. I was expecting sunny park conditions but I guess last year was extremely rainy, even in may, so I got fed up with the shit weather and left.
  7. Its not the worst expenses wise. UBCs tuition for international students is around 4-5 thousand dollars more per year than in state at penn state. However, the cost of living, food, and gas up here is ridiculous. In regards to getting in/getting a visa, it was not too bad for me. At the border coming in, to get a study permit, you need to be able to prove that you can pay tuition and living expenses for a year. I am pretty sure you can take out a loan to do this. Other than that, the fact that I am from the US really hasnt made it too complicated. There are plenty of jobs on campus, and they all pay really well, so that helps with the expenses. Its pretty easy to get a work permit though. I havent gotten one yet, but I know plenty of people who applied and got one a few months later. The school is dope. I am 1:45 from whistler, an hour from sick backcountry, 2.5 hours to baker, and 45 minutes from the best mountain biking. However, it practically rains in vancouver every day for the entire winter. Its actually nice to come back to Pennsylvania over Christmas break just because of how much better the weather is.

$700? What a rip off. The student pass to whistler blackcomb is $450.
  19. my friend had those skis and they completely fell apart. dont offer too much.
  20. Flew out to colorado with my buddy in February. The entire trip cost us each $500. My friend and I explored a lot of the denver/boulder/summit county area. Then we skiied for 4 four days at winter park, breckenridge, loveland, and copper. At winter park, breck, and loveland we received fresh pow and skied some sick hike to terrain. At copper, we ended up being in the right place at the right time. Ski patrol had just finished dynamiting tucker mountain and they ended up at the bottom of the same trail we were on. They asked for some skiers to test out the run and me and my friend volunteered. After being taken up in a cat with a few others, hiking for ten minutes, we were the first to ski tucker mountain in the 2009-2010 season. The snow at the top was crusty and hard to ski, but the bottom had really nice powder. Even though the run was short, the whole experience was awesome and I made an video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU4EHtC8OKs. The snowstorms that hit this year were sick as well. During the snowstorms, I was one of the first up the lift to ski the fresh pow. I never believed snow like that could fall in PA. It was incredible. The snow was so deep in some spots there were face shots at bear creek. Also, during that time I hucked myself into fresh snow which was a lot of fun. This last winter was sick.
  21. Sweet, thats where Im going to be living next year.
