  1. Welcome to the boards. Feel free to introduce yourself in the "introduce yourself" thread. We'll see what happens up at Blue once they stop blowing snow on Sidewinder...
  2. They've always been there... Yaaa first thing I thought. Apparently some new rails are being built though. Just real simple stuff.
  3. Thanks for the pics Stevo! I'm too busy to get up and around...
  4. Sooooo much fun. Thanks Chris!
  5. Elmers glue and popsicle sticks along with some blood, sweat, and tears... Really though its an astro turf like material that you slide on. Two runs of it side by side. The right side has interchangeable features, either an aframe rail or flat 16' single coping rail. The left side is a lovely flat down box.
  6. Race team?
  7. There already is one...
  8. Decided that I'm gonna sell my Nikon if someone gives me the right price. Bought this last year from a lady who kept it in immaculate shape and barely used it because it was a backup to her D200. I've only used it a few times over the year, and have decided that I'd rather play with video. Comes with 18-70mm lens w/ hood and lens cap, two battery packs, charger, and manual. It is in mint condition. None of the oil or wear spots normally seen on SLR camera bodies, and the lens glass is perfect as far as I can tell. Thinking $600 but am open to realistic offers.
  9. I went there once a year for like three years with a group. It was a good time with a group when I was younger. They used to keep some of the blown snow ungroomed on top of the headwall that made a fun jump, and their terrain park back in the day was kinda funny.
  10. I should be gettin' mine in the next couple weeks...
  11. Wow... Doug's most constructive/well written post EVER.
  12. My intent was not to hate on Bear at all, it was only to give an example that people not normally at Blue might relate to. Matt B obviously thinks the feature was a success, but I'd like to think that for a feature to be a success it is able to be riden by everyone when open. In any case, I too agree that setup is crucial, and things in Sidewinder definitely could be tweaked for easier and higher quality maintanence. Keith (head of parks at Blue) does read these boards and comments and suggestions/constructive criticism definitely doesn't fall on deaf ears.
  13. Then my advice for you would be to not bet very often cuz you'd lose this one.
  14. Ya man I hear ya. It really just is the reality of how it is setup. Don't know if you ever got to Bear Creek last year but it is the same deal as the staircase they built. Really nice feature with a ton of potential, but due to poor setup the thing was not able to be utilized anywhere near its potential. The wallride is kinda the same deal. There is just not enough space to have a nice base of snow beneath it while also having a long smooth transition. We'll do our best to keep it maintained this year. Perhaps we will try to "set" the transition for the first few days the park is open. Basically use a urea mix to get the transition to hold its shape a little better. The heavy water content in blown snow does make it tough to maintain features that require a lot of structural integrity. Basically around here you can't build stuff once and maintain it by hand. You need to constantly reconstruct with the help of a cat. With concern to handing out shovels, park crews aren't technically allowed to do this. Legal concerns...
  15. Werd. Problem is that the wallride is welded to four columns that are set into the ground on concrete foundations. It would be a pretty large undertaking to set that thing up at a different angle.
  16. Hey guys, I'm selling some of my bikes off to free up some space. I'm selling my hardtail mountain bike and my road bike. The mountain bike is around $500 and the road bike is around $2000. Check them out on Philly craigslist. Lemme know if you have any questions! Also, anyone who refers someone to me that ends up buying one of these bikes will be tossed either some cool swag or a nice case of beer (no Natty, Coors, Bud, Miller, etc... unless you request it). Thanks! http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/448263519.html http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/448274096.html
  17. Thats why you fly to Seattle! Last week my buddies just found $150 roundtrip tickets from Philly to Seattle the first week of January on Expedia. Rent a car at a weekly rate, I think mine was somewhere around $250 including the underage fee and they bumped me to an SUV for free at Enterprise. We split the rental car between six guys which made it something like $90 for the week including gas. We found a decently affordable room in Whistler and bought a four day pass. I think all said and done we did six days out west for $600. Those who got injured spent more, but still had fun. Granted prices for hotel and lift tix in Whistler are a little more in January, there are ways to do it cheap.
  18. Sounds cool! Maybe I'll be able to swing by and check it out sometime.
  19. I believe it is going to be setup with the hole and blades facing up. In this way, terrain park noobs will fall into in like a sugar water fly trap and won't be able to escape. This will definitely be the most entertaining feature, withholding the smell of rotting bodies of course. For real though, I think its gonna put on a platform in the summer, and then so will be able to be pushed around it in multiple ways.
  20. Did boulder use a winch cat to build their jumps??? I wouldn't call their landings perfect by any means but they were a good start.
  21. We already have on that is very close to that, only a little wider. Remember the one that was setup to the right of the gap boxes last year?
  22. Lookin' good Andy!
  23. Good luck with the sale............................................................................ .........
