  1. Haha why is there so much hate on this thread? It is awesome! Especially late-night. I was hoping people were posting more videos in the posts after the original post but no, just haters. I've watched a few people I ski with all the time get real physical/verbal with someone over the park. Working park crew/rolling through the park the stuff (fights, disagreements, bullshit, etc...) you see sometimes, especially on school nights/friday night, is hilarious.
  2. See link below, article follows: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2014090040_crystaldeath01m.html Kitsap County skier dies after Crystal Mountain accident A man from Olalla, Kitsap County, has died from injuries suffered in a skiing accident at Crystal Mountain. By Craig Welch Seattle Times staff reporter An Olalla, Kitsap County, man injured in a ski accident at Crystal Mountain ski resort died Friday, two days after taking a spill at the mountain's terrain park. Don Burkhart, 67, was skiing with his wife and another family member early Wednesday when he hit a terrain-park feature where the ground drops away mildly. He fell and suffered a spinal-cord injury and was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he later died. "It looks like he didn't intend to go off this roll, and it caught him by surprise," said Paul Baugher, Crystal's ski-patrol director. "It was enough of a surprise that he wasn't able to react and land adequately." Baugher said another ski patroller happened to be right behind him, picking up garbage after a morning sweep of the terrain park. The patroller didn't see the accident, but heard shouts from the chairlift and arrived within 30 seconds of Burkhart's fall. Burkhart wasn't breathing, but the ski patroller opened his airway and performed CPR, which kept him alive until he could be taken to the hospital. The News Tribune of Tacoma reported that Burkhart suffered a spinal-cord injury that immediately paralyzed him from the jaw down. Burkhart was a season pass-holder, a skier who had been a regular at Crystal for more than a decade. Baugher wasn't on duty at the time of the accident but recognized Burkhart's photograph. It brought home for him how small Crystal's ski-community can be. "We're all incredibly sad up here," Baugher said. "It's just horrible." He said visibility and the snowpack were good that day, but it's impossible to know how morning light might have impacted Burkhart. Burkhart had to go through a gate and pass a sign to enter the terrain park, so he wasn't there by mistake. There's no evidence that he attempted any of the more serious features of the terrain park. Baugher said the accident was a reminder how easily people can get hurt. "This was something people thought was very benign," he said. "But if somebody doesn't expect something, they can get hurt. It doesn't take much. And it happens very, very quickly." Baugher said it has been almost a decade since a skier died in a ski-related accident inside designated Crystal Mountain boundaries. The last death was eight years ago, when a skier suffocated after falling in a tree well.
  3. Usually from open/9AM - last ski out at 2PM. We're usually packed up and gone by 3:30PM when school groups start rollin' up.
  4. I'll be up all day tomorrow for the Buckmans demo. So far I know that myself (Line skis) and K2 skis will be there. We'll see who else shows up but I'd assume most of the Buckman's brands will. Should be a nice day!
  5. 1-3" forecasted for Frost/Boulder tomorrow. I'll be up all day Friday and Saturday. Not much snow but every little bit helps!

    New Hardhat

Yes! I bought a Bern, LOVED the fit and feel, but got rid of it. I won't lie that I didn't care too much for the color I bought either, but the majority of Berns use their multi-impact foam that is designed to kind of absorb multiple smaller impacts instead of fully absorbing the one medium or big impact that you're wearing a helmet to protect against. I had a Baker, and it uses a hard outer shell, but still the flexible foam inner designed for smaller impacts. I'm not wearing a helmet right now which is about as dumb as it gets. Even with my thoughts above; any Bern is better than no helmet. I'm planning to pick up something with foam more similar to a bike helmet/with a rating sometime real soon.
  7. Snowing heavy down here in the Willow Grove, PA area. Roads are fine for AWD, 4WD, and good snow tires. Saw a few spinouts and people getting stuck on some more minor grades though. Should be interesting to see what we wake up to... Not sure about Blue tomorrow with the forecasted winds. I'd go if I was in the Lehigh Valley, but not sure about the drive from killadelph. John come pick me up!
  8. Seen people do this in Whistler and Utah. Looks fun...
  9. Eh you've got U-Haul I've got dino-walking...
  10. Haha nice. For the slangish term challenged, the film will be starting at 8pm. No problem! Join us for the after party at the U-Haul depot in South Philly!
  11. Hello all, Matchstick Productions ski movie premier Friday night 10/29 at the World Cafe in Philly! Awesome venue with a full bar. Doors open at 7pm movie goes off at 8pm. Lots of swag, Subaru Rally Car will be on display and should be open to sit in... If anyone is in the area and wants to come by just for a photo with the car or to check it out you don't need to buy a ticket to do so. I believe it is one of the cars Travis did one of his 150ft+ jumps in. $15 to get in (see me (short dude in a Subaru polo) and we'll make sure to get you some swag...) - Trevor
  12. Sweetness! Hope you get a couple days with DEEP! I had a set of the JJs last year but never skied them, they looked soooo much fun though...
  13. Saturday October 30th: The Matchstick premier is going to be at World Cafe in Philly. A few of us have spent some time at the venue and it is one of my favorite spots in Philly. Saw a mountain bike movie there about 3 weeks ago. Full bar in the back, lots of room to hang out, always good times... Obviously LVBF is happening, and Stoketoberfest can't be missed.
  14. Is that what they consider a classic 'Toaster' bike? Looks sweet!
  15. http://www.break.com/index/110mph-winds-on-ski-lift.html Not sure if this was posted before. Unbelievable...
  16. Thats a bummer. I learned how to snowboard at Canyons when it was Wolf Mountain. Back then then didn't have all the development and it was like a bigger version of Brighton with natural halfpipes and whatnot. You're point about snow is absolutely correct. The cottonwoods are always going to get better snow and more of it. I've ridden Canyons many times and have gotten some great storms there. Some of the best pow days of my life were had at Canyons. My brother and I love the joint and try to get there when we are in UT. One thing that keeps people away is that the resort has so many damn traverses and cat-tracks to get from lift to lift. Riding inbounds is almost as much hiking in a deep storm than you'd do for out of bounds BC runs. Just no way to keep speed up. I'd dread riding with a boarder there in deeper snow. Due to this however, it is definitely one of the resorts in UT that holds untracked snow longer than others (Power excluded, that place is just another world...) Anyway, maybe one day you'll end up there on a snowday with someone who knows their way around and see whats good in the place. Washington State... no one should go there on a ski vacation. Its not consistent. Save it for the locals...
  17. Wow thats freaking awesome. Thanks for the photos. I've never skied in CO, skied Utah a ton, and pretty much wrote CO off after all the 'bros' I've talked to who have skied both. Everyone talks UT up for having way bigger lines and CO having basically nothing big mountain wise. People I talk to always talk about CO as being groomerland. Those photos are exactly what I needed to see.
  18. Thats what the forecast looks like for out here in western PA. I might try to get some pipe runs in at Springs tomorrow...

  20. I'm crossing my fingers to get out a bit early but not banking on it. I have to come up all the way through Philly too... Not looking good.
  21. http://www.hangboard.ca/video1.html Looks like the goofiest contraption ever. This will probably catch on like snowbikes...
  22. Springs has just been getting nuked. Got to ski there this year for the first time and it was awesome. Skied with some kids whose mom runs some of the events for Willies ski shops. They were doing double stagers back in the woods. Soo funny. I've been out to Pittsburgh area since December about five times and will be again next weekend. Somerset exit on the turnpike has had snow every single time I've been out there. Crazy... Should slow down now that Erie is frozen but we'll see.
  23. Anyone know if this is legit?
  24. Nice work. La Quinta is legit...
  25. It doesn't sound like I can offer any assistance towards a wider foot with high instep, but for any others interested, I'll have a price/inventory list of Full Tilt demos/samples shortly.
