Silly Jeff... What would a metric wrench be doing around an American car?
-
I was looking for that damn box end wrench!!

I don't have anything against Boulder, but for the record you're the only person I've ever heard talk highly of Boulder management...

No one likes a claimer you ass... If I wasn't such a lazy sack of sh*t I'd get out of my chair and come smack you.

Hmmm maybe things have changed since I last asked. That would be sweet if we could convince them to do it... I know a lot of people who have experience building ecosensitive trails and features. nayyyyyy, but I guess there are a lot of places that one might find a crowd like the one I described.

x1. Now if something goes down they'll say Blue just copied CBK.

I'm leaving Philly right now to head up and try to make stuff semi-legit to ride tonight. I haven't talked to anyone since Tuesday, but they were just taking stuff out as soon as it got a little wobbly. Pissin' me off. It took 4 of us 10 minutes to reset a rail on Tuesday. I'm tryin to get some more stuff put out tonight but no guarantees...

What do you ride? And where do you ride that you need 3 inch tires?

Buyer beware when looking at used park gear unless you're planning on using it to hit urban setups (concrete, asphalt, street rails, etc...). Thats fine if you wanna check out Papa's sons old gear, but buyer beware man. I have nothing against Papa and I'd back him up as a legit guy and seller anyday, but I don't sell my beat up park gear to people looking to actually ski on it. I just don't see it as an honest thing to do. If you want a ski that is going handle well all season and not leave you hangin' come February cuz it blew up when you landed on your tips, then buy new stuff. No one is trying to convince him that he needs skis over his head. 160cm equals 5.2ft. That is not exactly over his head. How old are you Mike? If you're getting taller and heavier (you sound like you're still growing), you're going to want a ski that is going to last you the full season. I have seen soooooooo many young teenagers blow the crap out of the biggest size in a kids ski (including myself when I was a few years back), and as soon as they got the adult model in the smallest size were good for the rest of the season.

You ever been to Platty or Mt. Creek on a race weekend? How about back in the day when Spring Mt. used to run races? I know not all downhillers are like this, but there is always someone in the lot pumpin' loud music that no one wants to hear, downin' a few beverages, and what not. During the busier parts of the summer when Mt. Creek's waterpark is open they have security patrolling the lots for this type of activity because they want to make sure the families that come to the waterpark are not disturbed by the bikers. I have seen people cited in Mt. Creek's parking lots by Vernon police for this type of behavior. So to answer your question, no that isn't what I dream, it is what I've seen. Don't try to argue that it is the people from Jersey and New York doing that, because I've been to Whistler and it happens there, and I have buddies in California who tell me it happens there too. To answer your original question, I asked a Bear Creek representative earlier this season if they were thinking about running the lift for biking and developing any freeride/DH trails, and the answer was no. I don't know what all the reasons are, but some of it might have to do with the fact that they don't want to attract the people that might inevitably come along with the DH/FR crowd. Right now they have some nice cross country loops, and run one or two races, but thats about it. People have said good things about their trails, which is a good thing, because maybe it will drum up some interest in other types of trails being developed. I'm not sure if there are restrictions on types of bikes you can ride there, but I know some mountains out west are instituting rules like: no bikes with over 5" of rear wheel travel, no tires over 2.3" wide, etc..., basically prohibiting freeride/DH bikes from the hill without explicitly saying so.

To my knowledge they aren't developing any downhilling or freeriding at Bear Creek. I think it has a little to do with them not wanting half naked men who are covered in mud downing a few beers to Godsmack and G and R in their lot after a day ripping while a wedding is going on in the background.

Dude I'm like 5'6" or 7" on a good day, and I'm tryin to rock 175's next season. For next season they are making the Trouble Maker in a 160, which is definitely short enough for you. There is a chance I'll be skiing on Lines next year and I'd ski a 178 in those. All about goin' long and center mounting.
-
I'll give the nod to the TMs. I've skied em for two years and blew up my pair of the old style construction, but have been running strong on this seasons. KT and I were just talking the other day about how much better they seem at holding up now. Dynastar had a bad rep for edge problems, but no one has really said anything bad about the newer ones. Next year they are 3cm bigger all around, come in a 168 instead of 165, and they raised the tail a little bit to make them ride switch better.

Nice! How were landings up there this year on hits? Hopefully we'll be able to make a trip up next season.

NS hookin' it up...

Sounds fair enough... And then this post comes along. I'm not really sure if it even merits a response. How dumb do you have to be to post something like this when the person offering the opportunity is not only reading this thread, but created it. I'm sure that tactic you described would work, but why the hell would you tell the people you are going to take advantage of that you are going to do so. Maybe you were kidding, but no ones laughing if Bear Creek decided to not do this again because people tried to scalp their tickets. I'm surprised that all Bear Creek does is call 5-0. Other mountains would make you pay a fine thats in the hundreds of dollars, and press charges like theft of services among other things. I'm sure thats what everyone wants on their records cuz they tried to make 20 bills.

Ya there were like 4 monos at Alta. I heard about people goin' down the hill in kayaks and canoes, but never Hobies and rafts. At The Canyons in Utah back in the day, they took this big war canoe with like 15 people in it, and tied one end to a bungie, and then sent it flying down the hill. Good fun. -
The wrong way: Call people out on a message board after they didn't answer a question they never said they would answer. Especially when those people have proven themselves to this community as being some of the most upfront representatives most of us have ever seen in the ski industry. The right way: Give them a reason to do what you want, instead of demanding an answer when there hasn't even been any time to plan such an event. Call local companies, radio stations, etc..., and tell them you are going to ask Bear Creek if they are interested in having a late night session, and if the company or radio station might be interested in sponsoring an event like this if it were to happen. Maybe then call Mary or Mark and say, "Hey guys whatsup? I think a really cool idea would be blah blah blah blah blah, these local organizations have expressed interest in sponsoring such an event, and I think it could be really succesful. Blah blah blah..." If you can make your idea win-win, and not "we should do this just because a few of the local kids want it," you'll have 100% greater chances of something happening. Remember, you're talking business, and mountains usually do this type of thing for the added exposure.

No Jeff, because that would mean that Subaru also equals gay. Silly Jeff.

Werd up to that. If Blue had the landing for it, they'd have the best hit in Eastern PA right now. The lip is damn close to a couple of the awesome jumps we were hitting in PC. The landings not bad for ones and 5s and stuff like that, but on bigger stuff we're definitely landing pretty flat. Without a winch there is not a ton you can do at this point in the season due to the slick ice base that the groomers have to try to get some grip on once the treads get through the sugar surface. Those landings need to be dialed with the blade while they're still all freshly blown cookies, cuz the cats can get pretty phenomonal grip on that stuff. As soon as they start tilling it they take away a ton of their grip once it sets for a night.
