  1. Mt Snows park has a roped off lane towards the bottom of the park where another trail comes in... Along with a giant mound of snow at the top of the park.
  2. Hey Doug if you're the first one to slide one of the new rails the correct way with style and cleanly then you get to name it whatever you want in your mind! Please see "jib honk" movies if you need any instructional material on said correct way.
  3. Best line ever on PASR. Period.
  4. I haven't heard the greatest things about the vapors, but don't claim to know squat about boards. Just grapevine type stuff. 900 bux for a board is gettin up into hardboot prices.
  5. Thanks to you and your pops then. Good to see you out. Always fun to get shown up by a 14 year old!
  6. We didnt really start until like 5ish. Were you too early? If you saw the right WRX you could probably see the setup. Props go out to Larry as well for bringing a ton of snow. Great jam last night guys, definitely the best so far. Next time don't forget to think about what you might want when you're hiking a rail for a few hours, things like snacks or beverages. I can't even count how many times I heard people asking the host "yo man can I get some drinks." Not cool when theres like 30 people there, or ever really, a 12 pack of drinks is like < $5... Can't wait for the season!
  7. Wow one of my favorite cars. Good luck with the sale. If I had the money it would be mine... I might have a buyer for you, will let you know.
  8. There are alot of great things that are being discussed for Blue this year. Closer to the season there will be some suggestion threads on park setup that for sure won't be ignored. Believe it or not those suggestion boxes around Blue really do get read by Mt. management, and these boards don't go unread by park management. Blue has alot more to work with this year, and there is a ton of optimism within the core crue at Blue this year. Should be great!

    new freeskier

Whats wrong with that? I didn't know shit about Din till I was like 15. Then again I didn't ski nearly as much as Nipples back then.
  10. Damn groms having parks their whole lives! Ya I'm not jealous...
  11. Please remember to support Icon products. Backed up by real personable folks!
  12. Case in point...
  13. I'm getting that you're under the impression that sponsorships will come to you through messages boards such as this one or Newschoolers. Hookups and freebies are all about how much you've networked and how many connections you have. Shadows brought up a good point in the fact that you appear to be intent on shooting down any potential connections you might have before you realize they are even there. As I noted in an earlier reply, I'm just tryin to impart some words of wisdom. I've been in the industry a few years and I don't know everything, but I've learned alot. If you don't like gettin deals or freebies here and there, then by all means ignore that advice and carry on.
  14. I like to look at other people too. One of my favorite riders of recent years is Eric Pollard. I love the way he brings technical park skills to the backcountry, which is my favorite place to ski. Mark Abma is another great rider that is comparable, but I think Pollard is way better. I don't have the skills or the terrain on a regular basis to emulate him, but I try. A word of wisdom if you wanna take it Nick. I don't think you realize how many people cruise this site that could potentially hook you up with great deals on gear or comped lift passes. When you mean well but come off to most as an ass, the chance of getting any of those hookups diminishes somewhat. Thats cool if you wanna stay at your area and you already have all the sweet hookups, but just somethin to think about.
  15. wow a version that finally works
  16. Werd up to that. When we were spotting those on the edge it was a little scary for sure. It just felt a whole lot bigger than the 20 feet that John gave us. In terms of the style points that people are bringing up, it was a weird few days for all of us. We hadnt really skied in over a month, so getting back into it at full speed was kinda weird. You get into a groove during the season and then with a week or more off you just lose it. Then we got into a great park, and we were never really spot on with anything, so we mostly just enjoyed the late skiing and made the most of it. Now I can appreciate why the pros travel the hemispheres to keep on their skis. I would highly recommend Whistler in May. Hopefully we will be able to do that trip again this year if they have another good base. Most of the runs were open, and there was even enough snow to ski down to midstation even though the bike park was due to open in a week. Whistler after May 1st becomes a bargain. No one is there because it is about 2 weeks after the big Telus festival, which sucks for the party scene, but for skiing its great. Their whole cafeteria becomes half off and there are deals to be had all over town. Due to the lack of normal shoppers people on holiday, we used the downtime to shoot the shit with shop employees. which garnered us great discounts and connections later in the week. Good times.
  17. Ya I agree. They should hang em up. Thanks for the constructive criticism. Come ride with us this year. That cornice was pretty big. Toast says 20, I think it was closer to 26.4. It woulda been alot easier to go much bigger with softer snow, but it was still mad fun.

    Getting closer!

Yeah. I haven't heard the most favorable reviews of their service and knowledge though. Nestors and Ski Chalet take the cake there.

Depends on what you mean by "functionally." In terms of safety, just check to see that either ASTM or Snell back up a helmet. Snell is usually the better standard in terms of skiing and biking helmets, as they purchase what they test off the wall, which insures that there is no bias in the product they end up testing. I don't consider DOT helmets when talking about helmets to my own customers, because the need is so low that I've met one or two people ever who could back up wearing one. Look for a helmet that has a high ease of use factor. I have a Giro Fuse and I love it because the majority of the vents are adjustable without having to remove the helmet. I stand around/hike in my helmet quite a bit, and its definitely nice to be able to get some airflow goin on when I'm doin that, and its also a huge plus on the warmer days. In terms of style, you can pretty much figure out what works best for you so I won't even go there.
  20. Nothing wrong with what you're saying about gear. Whether used recreationally or in competition, there is no doubt that hard boots are designed more for racing. My "C'mon man..." is not about your gear based postings, its about the issue that you and Rob seem to have that you guys fill up threads with. I know I'm not the only one that has said something about this, and definitely not the only who has been annoyed by it. Many people refuse to post on this MB because of bullshit like that, and its one of the reasons some mountains won't sponsor or link this board. Both of you are at fault, and shit like that isn't doing anything for the site or the local scene. Don't get along? Thats great but don't make us suffer through it.
  21. Anything to say about Blue Mountains park or riding clinics Ski? C'mon man...
  22. Alpine boards are very Euro. It was funny listening to Todd Richards and Pat Parnel out at the Olympics because while the race was going on all they did was make wiseass comments about the racers and their suits. They did the serious voiceover later after the racing. It actually is quite similar to monoskiing in the fact that many more Europeans do it. It takes a crazy amount of skill to do, but just isn't seen as cool. Watching those guys train was just as impressive as watching the skiers.
  23. http://media.newschoolers.com/uploads/memb...0HugeTricks.wmv Oh My God
  24. There are alot of guys on boards and skis who are great in the air and on rails, but can't hold an edge for their life in just normal freeriding. Both freeride programs (Darkside Skiers and Blue Mountain Freeriders) focus alot on improving normal riding along with park stuff. I forget what age Blue Mountain Freeriders goes up to but the ski program is any age and for skiers is one good way to work on becoming a better rider in a more relaxed environment than taking a straightup ski school lesson. Hopefully this year we will be able to incorporate some lines into the park that are super carvy and reward people who can really ride them.
