  1. Doug they won't have anything unless they hear about it. Same principle as the Park Passes. Have anyone who wants to do gates write properly constructed e-mails and the chances of that happening will go up. I think the Ski School already has Bumps and Carving clinics that they do every week for a few weeks. I know its a sore spot with some of you guys that they don't offer racing programs for adults. I would assume that they will not allow you to join the SNOWBOARDING gates clinics, due to the fact that it is ever so slightly different from skiing. Looks like now the boarders will be smokin' the skiers in the ever popular NASTAR series...
  2. I'd definitely recommend the Allstars from last season. Their ATC series is absolute shit, but their other skis are pretty good. In terms of this years vs. last years, just think about how hard you really ski. I don't know very many guys under 250lbs. that can really flex a ski with two layers of metal in it the way it is designed to be. This years Allstar will probably be great at high speeds just like last years was, but even harder to handle at slower speeds due to the added stiffness.

    Helmets

Giro Fuse. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra bones over the 9 to give yourself the adjustable vents. Its so nice to be able to open and close them whenever you want without having to take it off and take out vent plugs which you'll likely lose. One of the most comfy helmets I've worn for sure.
  4. Nordica Supercharger Ignitions. They come in a 163 170 or 177, and I've been told they ski really similar to Nordicas Hot Rod line, which I think is the best all mountain ski that I've skied. Blew anything by Atomic, K2, or Volkl away. The 170 has a 17m. turning radius, which is just about the smallest you'll see in a ski that length. I'm thinkin about jumpin on a pair of their pow twins this year instead of my Big Troubles...
  5. One other note, instead of coming down on Park Crue/Blue Mountain with your concerns about these contests, your effort would be better spent contacting local shops and telling them to sponsor these events. I am in no way speaking for Park Crue, but I do know how hard it is to get a shop to sponsor something, especially in its first year. The biggest thing holding shops back is the fear that there will be no return on the money they lose through sponsoring an event. They need to hear from customers that it will be beneficial, it means nothing coming from people in the industry who they know will likely never buy anything from their shop.
  6. Anyway I heard Blue's park is gonna be great this year and the contests will be fun and give riders a good deal of exposure. I'm stoked!
  7. I don't think anyone needs to worry about the amount of gear and prizes that will be given away at Blue Mountain comps. At the Darkside Freeride team ski movie premiere last year almost everyone there walked away with some valuable gear from Crashpads, Giro, Level 1, K2, etc... Another premiere is in the discussion phase right now, and if it happens we've been promised even more gear than last time. This year we'd also love to find a way to get a boarding movie into the mix, but like I said, right now its all talk. The comps at Blue also saw some great prizes given away, and with more and more support for Blues park scene you can only expect that the prizes and comps will get better and better.
  8. Rumor or not, thats what I was told by many of the management at Blue. I try to pick and choose carefully what I say about possible development for that very reason, much of it is rumor, and certain things are more fun to just keep under the table. I assume that Tuthills construction company must be doing alot of the work themselves, as much as they can anyway, which would make sense as to why the condos won't be done for this season. They can only do so many Blue Mountain related projects at one time.
  9. Park passes sound like they aren't happening as of right now, but it is still mid-July, keep sending those e-mails!!! Hopefully Blue Mountain management takes an interest in the tentative Blue Mountain Park Crue meeting in August. There were definitely some good ideas thrown around by park crue members and leaders in March that could be alot of fun if they were to come to fruition. Considering any work on the parks did not start until August/September/right before ski season last year, I'm really exciting to see what might come of the most recent work considering it has been started in July already. I thought it was common knowledge that the condos were never planned for this coming season. I guess not judging by the response here.
  10. The new lower lodge was never meant to be done by this season. The only projects promised for the 06-07 season were the 6-pack and widened park. Full lodge/condo project is slated to be done for the 07-08 season. Pics looks great! I'm definitely excited for this season. We will finally have the terrain to play with on Sidewinder. If I see Doug laying "trenches/huge GS arcs," across any jumps or lips to rails, then he will have problems...
  11. That proposal must have some serious backing and feasibility if the Morning Call got Mr. Tuthill to comment on it...
  12. Urea baby!
  13. Where is Amateur Athlete? Never been there...
  14. How and where did you get this years TM's for $200??!! I've seen close to that price on gear thats like 2 seasons old...
  15. Come like august or september there will be a huge bump in new stuff just like last year.

Yeah I'm definitely not planning on taking any kind of bait like that. There is no way I'm up for that challenge, or stupid enough. I've been looking on Craigslist for someone local, but so far nothing. A friend of mine who shoots for the local paper suggested Allens Cameras in Levittown, apparently they have a pretty reputable used business. I'm also going to try a few shops that are local to me and see how that goes. I think you've mentioned it before, but it photography your main source of income Ski?

Researched the company your link took me to. Sounds like they are widely known as one of the worst electronics retailers on the web. Whole articles dedicated to peoples terrible experiences with them...

    New toy

I don't know too much about lens compatibility between manufacturers. My dad has an older SLR Olympus with some good lenses, but I doubt they'd fit on the D70. Am I correct in assuming this?

    New toy

Yeah I've seen the park from Big Mountain, but never been in the park itself.

Is that Glacier Sib? And speaking of D70's, has anyone seen any good deals from reputable sellers lately?
  21. Yeah it just depends on who you run into up there. I've never had any problems in the summer, and haven't heard of too many people who have. The problems usually come a little before or after ski season when they are setting up equipment or there is snow on the ground. Then they are super tight about access to the mountain. Runnin' around on the groomers and lifts just might be seen in a different light than birdwatching...
  22. I hear ya man. I just don't want you to get locked up tight. They've threatened to press charges on people before for trespassing.
  23. Hopefully none of the management at Blue sees these... Walking around the mountain is one thing, but climbing on the towers and such is a totally different story. Love the pics though!
  24. Palace is still going down....
  25. Yes, 1,000 out of billions allows the use of the word "uber." Crawl under a monument... Park users are growing in numbers, and I would guess that their numbers are close to the amount of users on other trails at Blue. Good thing Blue is showing dedication to improving their parks.
