Skiing all summer is the best! I'd suggest wearing a helmet... Rung my bell pretty good yesterday.
-
Is that news? Don't waste your time...You've skied with Nipples enough to know whats up.
-
Ya luckily no one took the bait on that one.
-
I didn't see any criticism that was negative... Kid got props from everyone, some just expressed how they might have used different music so that the promo would appeal to them more. You getting your threads confused?
-
Look for an older pair of Airwalks before they stopped makin em. Best snowboots I ever had. Sucked at boarding though...
-
Ya my comment was heavily sarcastic. I've bought at shops and online. I was just noting why there may not be as many "core shops" as many people seem to think there used to be.
-
Back to the thread on hand..... Nice vid. Would love to see you start spinnin the other way son. You're definitely there. Who you sending this too? In terms of music, I definitely like somethin with a hard beat, but I dig hearin rock everyonce in a while.

I was sooo stoked on my Karmas until they were drilled through and I never got to ski them. Now that situation just brings back such bad memories I don't think I'll ever get a pair. Who cares!?!? I get much better deals online! My keyboard fit me up pretty well last time I bought some boots. But when I got some blisters and I went to my local ski shop to have work done, they were such dicks when I talked about how good a deal I got on my boots. What the fuck is their deal?!? No wonder there are no good shops anymore, they are all just dicks now...

Camelback came out with some ski specific backpacks this season, including one that you could carry a pair of skis with for those days where you're taking short hikes into the backcountry. The ski carrying one received decent reviews. People said it wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst, basically they were glad to finally see something from Camelback. The main complaint was that the straps seemed of lower quality than packs of a similar function and price range. Twin-tips are a bitch to ski behind, but it depends on which model. Some are way worse than others... I don't speak for everyone, but for the most part we don't use lifters on a park ski. We want the boot fairly close to the ski so there is a little more control over the base on rails. It is also a bit more stable when landing jumps and stuff. I do use a mild lifter on my big mountain twin, as it is my powder/huge GS turn ski. Follow me when I'm on those and you'll wish you were dead.

I second wezlo in giving this one a huge thumbs down. It was a highly anticipated cam for action sports buffs, but it got some of the most terrible reviews I've seen. Skiers said they could fit like one or two runs on the drive, then what are they supposed to do? Also heard battery life was terrible. Basically a miserable failure for Samsung. Here is my advice. Almost two years ago I went into a local camera shop and checked out their clearance section. I found a great Panasonic that was like two years old when Mini DV's were relatively new. Long story short, since the camera was two years old, I got a smokin deal on it. It originally retailed for $1200, and I talked them down to $350 on it. I got a mid-level camera with higher end features that I could set my light levels, white balances, exposure, etc... on for super cheap. Also, since I bought it from a shop, they said I could roll back if I had problems, and they would make sure to help me out. There are a few camera stores down down in Philly that have great used or clearance sections, and I think there are a few up in the Lehigh Valley. I dont know where you're from so I cant suggest any. Also, whenever you're rollin past Best Buy or CC just stop in and see what they have in the open box areas. Usually that stuff is in good shape and sometimes you can save like 50 to 100 bills. Check out your local smaller camera and photo only shops.

The DVD ones I see as great for the people who they are being marketed to. Families and individuals who don't really care to edit. I'd put money on the internal hard drive cameras becoming a big market in the next 5 years as storage devices get smaller and smaller. Who wants to deal with tapes??? Mini DV and High 8 tapes are already outmoded and will sooner or later go the way of all storage media before them.
-
For now the one con to hard-drive type cameras with flash or disc based storage is size. They really aren't able to hold that many minutes of footage yet, which means you're kind of limited in terms of how much you can shoot if you aren't something you can download it onto. With tapes you can obviously just carry extras.
-
Yes. Transfer is done via firewire or USB 2.0. My Mini DV cam has a 4pin firewire output, and it works great. The camcorder has nothing to do with editing in terms of cutting clips. I've been looking at high def, but its just too expensive.

Nah I didn't miss anything bro. My point was that as soon as you mention that you are tied to a company in some way or another, your actions will be the only bearing that others have to go off of in forming a view of that company. I've ridden with Switch once, and wouldn't know him if it weren't for this site. So far, all we have to go off of in terms of Icon is what you've given us. What we know is that you're the best snowboarder on this site and you don't even try, that you get surboards for free and may or may not be able to get us deals, and that instead of sayin something like "yo switch that ain't cool, this is what I think...," you just discredited yourself and your relatives company by your immature response. So far the only view I have of Icon is that some asshole is sponsored by them or hooked up by them. Considering I'm in the market for a board; that doesn't bear well for your relative ehh? Think about it... If you're trying to push a company, don't be an asshole in other threads. Do you see the manager of Bear Creek come to this site and post arrogant remarks in threads about other mountains and then get nice and helpful when talk turns to Bear Creek? At least be smart and make a arrogant poster name and an Icon poster name... Sorry I'm callin you an asshole, but you just gotta look at your replies from someone elses point of view if you're gonna be reppin a company or a service...
-
Judging by your username and the fact that you started a thread to promote Icon boards, its probably not in your best interest to talk shit on someone when all they did was voice an opinion on something, and then turn around and tell people how you get free stuff from this company, when we obviously wouldn't... No one needs you saying how you're such an amazing boarder and acting like its the easiest thing in the world, because for many people its not. Basically I'm trying to say don't be an asshole if you want people to check out what you have to say and take it seriously. Even though I'm looking for a new surfboard, I have no desire to check out anything from Icon now because the only association I have with them is through someone who sounds like an asshole. Not saying you are, just that your last post was a little...

Kid is sick on a board...
-
Very good point... Pretty much why I never try to sell anything there, or go there in general more than once or twice a month.
-
A piece of advice, you'll get 90% less interest in whatever you're selling if you don't list a ballpark figure of what you would like to see for the item. Shoot for a bit more than you think they're worth, with the assumption that the buyer will probably talk you down a bit, and if he/she doesn't then you come out stoked. List a price, especially on Newschoolers, and you'll get alot more replies.

I'd disagree on the first point, here is why: Line pretty much admitted to the fact that their shit sucked this year, if they hadn't they would have looked even worse than they did. The logic is fairly simple, if they just send out more stuff that they know is going to fail, then what is the point? Why not wait until next year, when they get the bugs worked out (lets see if they do...) and give your buddies and all the guys and girls who were unfortunate enough to buy Line this year something that they can stand behind. True they did have to put out more coin to get something else, but they are getting something they can sell next season (If anyone wants to buy Line...). The second thing you said was just shitty luck. I agree that if a company put out a crappy item, they should still own up to that mistake by supporting that item. Sounds like bad business. Dynastar and Rossi are Quicksilver owned, along with the entire outdoor sports industry it seems like. I don't think K2 is though...
-
Ummmm ya... Not after what I've seen. To be fair, Line did have some quality skis, but I see quality in a company as one of those across the board things.
-
I also can't wait to see how many "park suggestion" topics are started before the beginning of next season... I did one at the end of the season for Blue, anyone keeping track.

Yeah Mountain Creeks pipe is almost all dirt. I've ridden up to it on my bike, and I would never drop in on my bike, its that big. Superpipes out west are all snow for the most part, which is why they are so big. If BC had the funding that came along with being owned by Intrawest, it would be feasible, but definitely a waste of resources as things stand now.

Glenn, I would recommend you take a look at the Level Radiator XCR's. They make it in either a glove or a mitten. I have the glove and I love them, and my girlfriends mom has the mitten and she swears by them after skiing with them this season in temps from the teens to the fifties. Mine always kept me warm, even after I dropped one in the sink on a 20 degree day. They use Goretex with Primaloft insulation with a leather palm, and you can find them for pretty good deals in the offseason at local shops. I ran into no liner problems like Timeless complained of, and they've actually been one of the only gloves that hasn't fallen apart on me after having kids running over them during lessons, dragging them on the ground while freeriding, etc... My one complaint is that they are a little warm on the warmest days (55 degrees +), but they actually breathe pretty well (thanks Goretex) so its not too bad. A few extra duckets over the Sports Authority or Wal Mart specials, but well worth it for me.

Haha Justin has great experiences with 4Frnt.

Blackcomb closes at the end of April after the Telus Ski and Ride Festival, then they re-open the glacier in June.
