Thankyou for reiterating my point switch! Send e-mails guys and girls! Stop wasting your time with pointless threads.

To all of those who would like park passes for next year; instead of wasting your time responding to arguments that are backed with little to no applicable evidence by people who you know are always going to keep on coming up with another way to piss you off, please send an e-mail to "information@skibluemt.com." Send it to the attention of Dennis Krell Sr., and include in it solid reasons for park passes(preferably backed by factual evidence, not wild opinions!), and word it politely and professionally, being sure to check your spelling and grammar. This will do way more for what most park users want than will arguing with three or four bored individuals on PASR, who seem to enjoy provoking needless debate over and over again (I'm guilty of this on occasion by my own admission). Tretiak, I wouldn't brag about doing something that you aren't authorized to do on an open online forum. While I hope no one on this site would go so low as to jeapordize somebodies job over something that was said online, I don't think I would put it past some people, and if I were you I don't think I would risk it. Just be mindful of what you say considering your position.

Ski I come on this board as just another snowsports addict. Blue Mountain has in no way made me a representative of any kind, nor have I asked to be one. Sure I am slightly biased towards some aspects of the mountain when conversing about certain topics, but you can be sure that my bias goes both ways. I have had some bad experiences up there along with great ones. It is just the place that I happen to ski at the most. Employees of mountains who post on these boards seem to do a good job of representing their mountains in usually respectful ways, and are great to have due to their insider knowledge. "I try to do things with a little common sense. I saw the obstacle and realized that if I didn't have enough speed with the lack of a straight line approaching the pond, I would have eaten it at the transition. It's that simple. I'm not stupid and I know my ability. I also have no bruises or broken bones because of it. I also don't have mommy and daddy to wheel me around while I heal and miss school. It's called common sense and responsibility. Some of you will figure it out someday." I'm pretty sure that most of the people on this board are not eight, so don't address them like they are, it just makes your argument weaker in their eyes. I tried to use my common sense to keep that lip covered with snow so that it would be easy to come out of, or as soft as possible to fall on. The only people that hit that lip and got hurt were the people who were going fast and leaning too far forward and ended up face planting it. The people who hit it succesfully, which seemed to be the majority might I add, simply popped right off of it and landed softly. "I'm sorry that no one was able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out that all they had to do was fill up the pond more or leave the hose running while the event was happening." Did you see how much water was being displaced while the event was underway? A hose was put into the pond about halfway through the event, but unfortunately a foot long tear in the liner that occured late in the event kept them from being able to keep up with the drainage and so the level wasn't quite as high as they hoped, but people still had no problem clearing the pond... "I thought that this forum was about telling the truth and not getting the "Yep we are 100% open with a 90 inch base on every trail" crap that you get when you call." Whose been lying to you? All anyone has given you is facts... I guess my big problem with your posts has been the negative nature of them. I guess I just don't like to hear people complaining about a laidback, free, and amusing event. It wouldn't have mattered if this event took place at any other mountain, but you're just kind of being the dude that ruins everyone elses good time, and I woulda called you on it anyway.

Schif you bring up a great point. For us locals, the idea of a one time fee of $5 is really nothing, but for the rider who is visiting from another mountain or whatever, its just more and more added on to what is already an expensive day. However, please keep in mind what this one time extra fee would get you. You wouldn't have to deal with many of the common gripes that riders have with terrain parks such as families with very young kids, people not being able to make it up the lip of a 60 foot jump, people carving across the lips to rails, etc... I would gladly pay $20 if I knew that there was one trail on the mountain where I knew that I could progress my skiing in as safe a manner as possible, and not have to worry about killing a 4 year old kid because he fell after skiing over a steep landing. I think one of the most important aspects that most of the park pass naysayers are missing here is the issue of SAFETY. Papasteeze has mentioned it in numerous posts, and I believe it is the issue that is paramount above all others. Sure there are other perks of park passes, like allowing us to keep the park in better condition for its users. But if you are a regular visitor to any of the terrain parks in the area, you have to have witnessed at least several very close calls, if not some actually collisions. Sure I've seen people get hit on other trails as well, which is another very valid point, I was run over when I was younger on a black diamond trail by a beginner snowboarder. She edged across my face and luckily I didnt get a huge scar from it but it was definitely scary. But when you add things like big hits where people are literally falling from the sky onto blind landings, and rails where people cannot easily change their direction of travel, it brings a whole other aspect of concern into the equation. Imagine if I was a young kid skiing in the park, and that girl had come off of a jump, I could have been killed. CR Johnson, a famous pro skier, had a similar incident occur earlier this year and it put him in a coma. My stand is that I just want to see some type of pass or patrol for the park so that we can stop something from happening before it does. It is obvious that many patrollers do not know proper park ettiquete, and this will be an issue addressed for next season. If people want to hurt themselves by hucking and sliding, then that should be the decision of the participant. I don't think the institution of park passes will be a dominoe effect for "bump passes, black diamond passes, etc..." There would still be a beginner/intermediate park, and I believe that most people would be satisfied with this. So my argument is mainly one of safety, and if you tell this to the average family in a polite way backed up by evidence and facts, then I think most would agree. Except for Doug. Doug I'll buy you a freakin pass if you will agree with me after this post. 1st grade your post about skier visits is not a valid argument in the least bit because all of those people are not representative of terrain park users, or people who care in the least bit about terrain parks. Many of those people have only seen terrain parks on tv before they came!

"Ski999 does not put a value on service or information in a shop, he doesn't have to because of his deep knowledge of the ski industry." I just think its rather close-minded to assume that just because you know alot about the industry, then everyone else does. I know this isn't what hes doing, but judging by the language in his posts it is very easy to interpret it that way. What do you do for a living Ski?
-
My post was mostly meant as a joke for Doug. Ski you have been a member long enough to have seen the shop vs. internet debates on here in the past, and through those Doug and I know each others position on the topic. As I remember, I used "invaluable" in reference to the advice that shops give, which often times comes free whether you purchase something or not. It is one thing for a person to take a few minutes to ask a few questions about gear they might buy in order to learn about it and learn the correct way to use it. It is another for someone to come in and be fitted up for everything the correct way, which often takes in excess of an hour or two, and then go and purchase all of that stuff online. "And, anyway, when was the last time someone walked into your shop and was fitted properly?" I've seen people being fitted for boots at shops for well over two or three hours, and when I got my liners I was at the shop for an hour and a half until they closed. The tech was just finishing up with me and the owner of the shop offered me a beer and asked if I wanted to hang out for a while longer with the employees and watch movies, etc... "When did someone put on a boot and walk around for more than 30 minutes?" I didn't know ski boots were designed to be fitted for walking... The whole internet vs. shops debate is really quite ironic if you think about it. If there are shops then people won't ski because it is just too expensive. But then if they get all their stuff off the internet then they will have a ton of problems making it fit and function. I guess the only outcome of this whole thing is that ski areas will go out of business because pretty soon there will be no skiers because either its too expensive or its too painful.

Yeah the PE is a great width for all types of snow. Like Atomic said its a bit on the wide side if you want a ski that is more of a dedicated on-piste ski, but if you can't afford a whole quiver of skis, then I think you'll be happy with what the PE lets you do both here and on your trips out west.

No worries man. I just called you out because I didn't really see how someone who didn't even participate could "tell it like it is." I just don't really see how your post, the overwhelming majority of which was negative in nature, was a positive contribution to the topic. Blue hears positive things, they want to do more. Blue hears negative things, well you get the jist. Thanks for the trash comment by the way, need I comment on your skiing?
-
When going fast, there really isn't a ton of difference that the width underfoot makes. With the extra speed have more power to put the ski up on edge, which is why people are able to ski 92mm waists and bigger on groomers. I've tried a bunch of skis, and I still have a blast on my Big Troubles. However, when I couldn't see anything in heavy fog and had to do short sliding turns to get down the mountain, the wider skis definitely wear you out alot quicker because you have to muscle those skis up on edge when going slow, you cant easily roll them over like you can with a ski that has a narrower waist. You should be fine with a 85mm waist, and you'll definitely appreciate it if you are able to go up north or out west and are lucky enought to get some fresh.

That is usually the main way that I buy something if I can't get it through industry discounts or whatever. Many shops are more than happy to do that, the worst they can do is say no. This way you're still giving them your business, and in the process establishing a customer/shop relationship that almost always is beneficial (when you need mounts or a light tune etc...) This country was established on a barter and trade style of economy, but you wouldn't know if you looked at modern retail. If you travel to other countries, it is no problem to barter for a few dollars or cents off of an item, it is expected by the retailer. I guess many people don't realize that you can ask. I guess some people see it as rude, but you're the consumer, so what should you care?
-
Well with that information I'm gonna predict that people are going to keep on dying, then buy their caskets online and bury themselves, thus causing many funeral homes to go under. Kind of like how people are goin to keep on skiing, buy their gear online and then not know how to make it work, causing many ski shops to go under. Please keep arguing against ski shops and the invaluable services they provide to many people except for you.

Way to be Doug. You're the man. Which reminds me, I saw a sweet looking monument online the other day... I wonder what they're charging...
-
Maybe its both oxidation AND whatever they put in the snow... Just a thought.

Nice post boblikescats... (heavy sarcasm) Constructive criticism is appreciated from people who actually tried to make it across from this point on. I had a great time today, and yes I was on the clock so that made it that much better, I think I was anyway... The only complaint I did hear is that some people were going multiple times before other people got to go once, which sounds like is what happened to Tretiak. From what I heard from people who participated, the top was kinda like a line for a jump in the park, you kind of just went whenever it was clear. So it was all up to the participants how many runs they took. Huge thanks to everyone who participated, and big thanks to all of you who came out to watch. Hopefully this is a yearly event, we were already talkin about bigger ideas for next year.
-
Wow... Any more questions, concerns, complaints, comments, etc...??? And don't anyone say, "ya but I can still get my stuff cheaper on the internet!" that has been discussed enough on this forum.
-
Keep dreamin'... You'd be surprised at what you might get if you ask nicely. You'd also be surprised at how many people on this board might be willing to hook you up, as long as you don't come across as an asshole. There are alot of people on here with alot of connections. You're kind of ruining any chances of people taking you seriously...
-
Do you even have to ask? LINE INVADERS! STAY AWAY! bindings were p12 jibs which will no doubt grace many pairs of skis before they bite the dust.
-
Wow there is just to much dumb stuff to quote in this thread. Not everyone owns the jigs, drills, etc... that are used to mount skis. Part of the reason you pay the extra charge to get your bindings mounted is the knowledge that the shop will do it right. I personally would rather pay 25 dollars to have it done by a shop than take the risk of screwing up and having to buy a new set of skis.. If the shop screws up then you can be sure that they will make things right. Sure there are exceptions, but I know that Nestors stands behind the work that they do. Method has it down pretty well in this post. As a consumer, put yourself in the place of the business owner. Now do you see it the same way? If so, open a shop, and best of luck to you because chances are you won't last long. By the way, what Method said about the Lines is the best Line delam story I've heard yet this year. After seeing how many of their skis have just self-destructed this season, its just laugh after laugh. "But they ride so well" everyone says. Not when their being shipped back and forth between the company they dont.
-
Dude just get him to give you a ride. I mooch off Justo all the time. Just buy him a gatorade every once in a while and hes happy.
-
Haha I love this post.

Park passes at other mountains usually work as a one time charge on top of either a season or daily pass. There really isn't any way at Blue to sell a park only pass, it would complicate things so much that it wouldn't be worth it. Doug, Thanks for that valuable park idea for next year. I'll be sure that it is the first idea I show to management!

A six page paper is due, along with a 6-8 minute presentation on said paper. Do I send the paper by e-mail and skip class?
