Ya I stayed with them Friday night definitely characters. Great trip and conditions.

We arrived at the lodge for opening and were welcomed to a reported 4-6 of freshies on the mountain. After heading up we quickly realized that this was more like 8-10 in spots. Wow I don't think I could of planned this better. I skied a bunch of runs through freshies everywhere including a run down ripcord and a paradise which were a lot of fun. The words for the day was humbling as I quickly realized I am way out of my element in powder and I got to spend the day working on it. After heading down the paradise woods we decided to check out mt Ellen. For those that do not know sugarbush thy have two mountains that are connected by a chair across that goes about 2 miles really interesting experience going across a mountain. After hitting mt Ellen we did a couple of runs down some nice soft bumps and then headed into the trees. These trees had great snow but were a little tight for my taste. We headed down exterminator again and farther across the mountain to hit the brambles woods which were filled with stashes to be had pretty mellow but fun. We headed in for late lunch after a couple more runs and I thought I was done for the day as my legs were shot. After hearing from the guys I was with I decided to head back up. On the lift a guy told me that the north lynx lift was open and therefore the slide brook was open which I wanted to experience so we headed up with a group of about 20 to the trail. For those that don't know sugarbush slidebrook is the area between the two mountains and is several hundred acres of pure trees. The traverse is a little tight and requires some speed scrubbing and space but not bad. After getting across you go under the chair lift to several entrances. Inside is pure gold as there were amazingly spaced trees freshies everywhere and a intense fun set of runs. These are tree areas that you could spend days in and still not hit all the lines. I would say the trail is around a mile and a half and is absolutely amazing. I would say it rivaled sugarloaf a bracket basin especially with the snow. After the run you end up on cat tracks and cross a bridge which requires a little effort to get back to the access road to catch the bus back to the lodge to end the day. Another open to close day. Today was summed up with fresh snow, amazing trees and wind. I really like sugarbush and feel it has a lot to offer from steep steeps and great trees with slide brook being unreal.

TR Sunday River - 3/22 posted on behalf of Ridedeleware ;)

Great guy and great advice. Hope to ski with him again soon. -
So after leaving the loaf I headed the hour and a half to Sunday river for the next stop on the adventure. After getting up and checking out I headed over to the lodge and booted up. I was about 15 early for the lift so I had to wait but I was able to catch the second lift up from the white cap lodge. I had reached out to ridedeleware to meetup and he was working off of spruce peak so I figured I'd make my way over. I headed down wildfire to the barker lift. The legs were in need of stretching out and the groomed trails were fresh cord. Heading up the barker lift as I continued to work my way over. I skied past last tango which looked decent but I wanted to get over to spruce to meet up. I headed up the lift and saw he wasn't there so I decided to take a run down downdraft which was wall to wall bumps. They were in really good shape with soft bumps and it really got the legs going. After heading back up the lift I met up with ride and we took a nice cruiser run down American Express. It was nice as the snow was softening up and the skis were showing me how they can rip groomers. Heading up the lift ride he gave me the details on the mountain and pointed me over to Jordan bowl. After breaking off I headed over toward Jordan bowl and headed down vortex which had some nice pitch and great snow. Heading up the lift I saw the celestial glades and I decided to check them out. I waited at the entrance for a minute for someone to head down and I headed down with them. The trees were soft with lots of snow to be had. It was nicely cut out with lots of options. A really fun run with great conditions still from the past storm. Heading up the lift I made my way more toward Jordan bowl and saw the flying monkey glades so I again waited for someone to drop in and headed down. This trail was interesting with a huge water pipe you had to go over to get on the trail. This was a little scraped off at the top with a couple sticks and some rocks. The trees were again cut out well with good options and good snow once you got part the first section. I headed down cyclone after that and ripped some turns to the lift. The Jordan bowl is where the goods are at flat out. I headed down Excalibur to look for the new trail that ride mentioned. I found the entrance he referenced and made my way in to check it out. After going through the tigh entrance you are welcomed to beautiful cut trees with paths everywhere to take. I started making my way down which was a but tighter at top but opened up into paths everywhere with beautiful soft snow and powder to be had. This run was amazing and on the way down the guys from the loaf gave me a call to tell me they were there. So after skiing the rest of the way which felt like forever (awesome). I headed over to the lift and did a speed run down lollapalooza to the lodge. I met the guys and we had a great lunch at sliders. I didn't even realized it was 12 already as the skiing was so good. After heading back up we lapped blind ambition glades and I showed the guys where the trail I hit was which they loved we skied soft snow and some leftover pow in hear for the whole day pretty much. It was absolutely awesome. While the section we were in was not for everyone I found the glades of blind ambition to be pretty accessible and a good place to learn. After skiing to the last chair at Jordan bowl around 3 we made our way back across the mountain hitting last tango on the way. I wish I would of hit this later because it was the first crunching I heard all day. We headed back up the lift and made our way down to the lodge we were parked. A great day with wonderful snow still to be had. Groomed trails were nice bumps were soft and the trees were incredible. My impressions of the mountain is that its very accessible to all levels and has some really good terrain when there's snow. It has a Killington feel with the multiple peaks and size.

Ya definitely a great day. Drive was about 8.5 hours but I had to drive an hour out of my way to pick up my new skis and deal with 309 traffic. More reports to come.

Simple words to some up the day. Epic! After arriving late last night and driving from the hotel to the loaf I ended up at the lodge around 8 to boot up and head down to first chair. Heading up the lift you could see how the prior storm of about 18 inches was really setting up an amazing day. After heading off the super quad I decided I should probably head down a groomer to get a feel for the new skis down a long trail with some decent vert. After the warmup it was time to get the day going. No headed up the quad and down to the timberline lift where there were so many ungroomed powder stashes to be had. After hitting a bump trail and a very narrow chute down the side of a trail I was heading up the lift and discussing the mountain with a local who pointed me to the pipe fitter glade ( I think) after a real narrow entrance the tree area opened up to an untouched area with fresh to be had everywhere. The trees were a little tight but so much fun. After this I decided to see what the snowfields were all about. The fields were fun but it felt to me you were just skiing an area that was too wind blown and way to much like the east coast but still fun and an experience. Heading down a bunch if ungroomed and bumpy runs I made my way across the mountain and found Bracket basin. I really wanted to see this area but because I was by myself I decided against it but it looked amazing from the entrance ( and it was). So I decided to continue down the run which was a wall to wall ungroomed bump run that was pretty steep in places but really soft and fun. After heading back up the king pine I decided I needed a breather so I started heading to the lodge and decided a trail called misery whip couldn't be that bad. This trail was ungroomed, bumped and was pretty much a chute and steep. The legs were burning after that one as the trail earned its name. After hitting the lodge the day got real fortunate as a group of guys I was chatting with invited me to ski with them as they were heading into bracket basin. We headed up and found a absolutely covered deep area that felt like it went on forever with so many options down. The trees were great with deep snow some narrow areas cliffs etc but everything was negotiable with options. After a couple UBS in this winter wonderland I broke off from the guys and headed to the lodge for lunch. After lunch I ran back into the guys and back over to the basin after a groomer or two. We did several runs in there and never hit the same area twice. Once they finish this massive expansion it's going to be unreal. We just kept going to skiers right and found so many stashes to be had even though one time we got near the boundary and found ourselves traversing back. After closing out the basin we did a couple trails down to the lodge and I called it a day as I didn't want to push it too much on day one. In summary this was probably one of the greatest days I've ever had skiing. Powder bumps trees and warn weather what else could you ask for. New skis performed great and I think were a great addition. I took pictures and film and will link them when I can.

Great day up at elk. Conditions were amazing like mid February with amazing grooming. Tunk was a lot of fun with the bumps just starting to build up and Mohawk was also a lot of fun. The wife continued to progress and did three blacks including the two on the front face by the lodge. She may turn into an avid skier after all. She's really starting to enjoy it and is more excited to go then ever. Met up with three guys from Alpinezone and did some great runs. Lots of speed, bumps and great snow with little to no slick spots. Top of tunk had the big bumps were all used to and was a little slick but the rest was forming up and was really fun to fly down. Glad I got up for my annual visit to Elk I really enjoy this mountain even with the slow lifts but no lines at all and quick up and down runs. Here's hoping for this storm this week to pan out. Didn't take any pictures except the wife at the bottom of Susquehanna in her new get up.

That was my original plan but i'm having trouble finding anyone that carries the look's or fks.

This movie almost got me killed in San Antonio when my drunk friend was screaming the only thing that comes from texas as we walked down the river walk.
-
I saw a guy go under a lift at seven springs. The lifty didn't stop it he just screamed to stay down until the lift cleared him lol.

Didn't mean to create a fire storm with this but my first pair of skis where integrated so I'm stepping in uncharted water here. Thanks for all the insight. I'm down to the following: Look pivot 14 Salomon Sth 14 Rossi fks 140 Rossi axial2 120 Probably going to grab off of backcountry.com since most local shops aren't carrying. Not to start another war but any suggestions for a shop to mount them. Only close options are buckmans and salters. Pricing seems to swing a good bit between each so
-
Starting to look at the sale prices for ski's and have no clue what kind/size of ski binding I need. Looking for some advice.
-
I think there owned by the sames guys that own buckman's or are associated at least. There buy 1 get 1 sale has started there as well.
-
Always looking for someone to split the drives with.
-
Now might be a great time considering they probably got clipped by WS Saturn.
-
They were right the snow was so wet that it was rain.
-
Just a little self deprecation lol. Might be heading to stratton this weekend. Not sure yet.

I swear everytime I check the models are different. This winter just continues to be good for a bit filled with a bit of suck here and there...
