Which one? That applies to most of them. -
That sad thing about all of this is that the buoy isn't even up and running yet this winter. They took it in for maintenance over the summer so hopefully it will be back out soon ready for a fresh pop.

I said "I don't think"

unfortunately I don't think they are in a rush to put down snow until that lift is done.

What happens at 3k feet stays at 3k feet.

A valley only opening seems concerning to me if we are really looking for an early start to the season. I'm not in the ski mindset yet so this doesn't bother me at the moment. Check back in a few weeks.

I need to do that. Thanks for the reminder.

There are still a lot of road closures, especially with the non-paved surfaces. Lots of rock and mud still around the roads. It was odd seeing park service trucks with plows on them in 110 degree heat.

I think the excitement that a business gets from "big news" is going to be a lot different than the excitement that a bunch of grungy parking lot rats gets from "big news"

I was there. I didn't see U2, though. You would have enjoyed the sky at night. It was the second best I've seen, only to Urabamba, Peru where there is absolutely no light pollution. Seeing shooting stars all over the place. The Milky Way was stunningly present. It was just incredible.

Last week I was in Vegas to present at a conference. Other than some really good restaurants way off the strip, that city sucks. So I drove to Death Valley to do some hiking through the Golden Canyon and Red Cathedral, check out the lowest point in North America at Badwater Basin, and catch a desert sunset, and an incredibly clear sky filled with stars and the Milky Way. At a cool 110 degrees during the day, it was a bit toasty, but it dropped down to 88 degrees once the sun went down and felt a lot better. Really cool place and nice to check off another national park.
