Pittsburgh is awesome. The place has come a long way since the steel industry left and they reinvented itself as a leading technology, law, and healthcare city. Imagine that. The city is beautiful though. The view from Mt. Washington is awesome. They have awesome food and bars on south side. And one can never go wrong with a capicola and fried egg sandwich from Primanti.

I don't think any of us here are tax experts, especially when it comes to amusements and hotel taxes for hotels and ski resorts. So considering he is on the planning board for the project, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/news/index.ssf/2017/05/a_shuttered_poconos_ski_resort.html For $412,500, you could buy one of the nicer homes on about an acre of land in Palmer Township. Or you could do what a Monroe County couple just did - buy a mountain. On Monday, Jim and Linda Schlier closed on the purchase of the former Alpine Mountain ski resort in Price Township, according to Michael Baxter Jr., commercial adviser with real-estate firm Michael Baxter and Associates in Stroudsburg. This past winter was the first in more than 40 years that Alpine Mountain didn't open for skiing. The 97-acre property went on the market last fall. The Schliers, who own several businesses in the Poconos including a towing company, expressed interest about a month ago. Baxter's firm brokered the deal between them and previous owner Mountain Ski Resorts and Gold Inc. Baxter said the previous owner was "kind of just looking to go in a different direction" after a couple of bad winters. The new owners also want to go in a different direction; they do not intend to bring back skiing, but have some ideas for the site, Baxter said. Jim Schlier told The Pocono Record that the couple wants to turn it into a destination resort and sell off two of the three ski lifts on the property. Baxter said he is confident whatever the couple does on the property will be a success given their track record of running businesses in the Poconos. They also own a local Harley-Davidson dealership.
