  1. yeah i saw that on http://unofficialnetworks.com/ a few days ago.
  2. Blue this morning. Maybe sleeping in tomorrow if its raining.
  3. I wouldn't go alone. First trip out west shouldn't be solo. You have to be safe and know what you are getting into.
  4. Save it for next year or tag along with the other guys. You would fit in well with them for sure. Great guys to show you around.
  5. that's a better solution that putting the cost on the rest of those who are medically insured.
  6. A reality we all must face sooner than later.... but at least we don't have it this bad: http://unofficialnetworks.com/sandia-peaks-ski-season-118129/ "The Ski Resort of Sandia Peak, NM (not AZ) is already calling it quits for the 2012-2013 ski season. The resort has only received 32 inches of snowfall this season resulting in a base depth of just 14″. It has been such a dismal season that only the resort’s beginner lift and slope were able to open at all this year. Sandia Peak typically has a shorter season than most ski areas but this season the resort will be closing a full month ahead of schedule. The resort will remain at the ready to reopen the ski facility if the area receives a late season dump but the long range forecast is not looking too good."
  7. wait.... you don't ski with a Tuggie on?
  8. Absolutely not. Health insurance pays for healthcare, and shouldn't pay for somebody to be found in the middle of Vermont. Having health insurance gives you medical coverage, not stupidity coverage. Let these people pay for their rescue and if they need to seek medical treatment because of it, let their health insurance pay for that. All that this would do is contribute to the already inflated healthcare crisis by increasing insurance premiums if health insurance companies "covered" search and rescue - which is so far out of their responsibility. That's like saying your car insurance company should pay for your new tires on your car. Not their responsibility. It's yours.
  9. actually, it would be the other way around. they will freeze earlier than your body and that whole area is away from your body for a reason - to stay cooler. i've never had that issue when running in sub-freezing temps. this sounds like a sad excuse ripoff of the Tuggie. http://www.spencersonline.com/product/pd-the-tuggie/
  10. el oh el.
  11. The whole thing is bumped up. Side to side. Top to bottom.
  12. Yup. I could care less. But I say go for it.
  13. There better be good picture reports. Who is going?
  14. this is true. i knew a lot of you assholes outside of this site too. you all suck. AH has also introduced us to #dooping, which is a great off-season activity to prepare our livers for ski season.

  16. I had the day off so I decided to head up to Blue before the rains came and boy was I surprised. The snow up there was great when I arrived. They blew on almost everything again so the conditions were great and crowds were minimal. The sun was poking out and the clouds were rolling in so I figured my time up there would be limited. about 30 minutes into my morning it started flurrying at the top and by the next lift ride it was dumping snow and the ground was starting to get covered. i spent much of the morning lapping razors, the bumps on main street, and the bumps on the chute because nobody else was skiing them and the snow was holding up really well with all the new snow that was falling. i ended up leaving around 12:30 because the snow was starting to get really wet and i didn't want to get stuck in the rain change over, but according to their facebook and webcams, its still snowing. when i left they had about 3 inches up top and 2 at the bottom. the roads sucked and it took me about 1:15 to get home because there were cars littered on the sides of all the roads on the way home. that is all.
  17. i might be willing to risk drowning to get on the show. i could use some more TV time...
  18. huge thanks to Mike for setting everything up, getting me hooked on it, and hopefully inviting me back for next year. I had a blast the times I could make it, and I'm hoping to improve a little bit each time. Definitely started to feel much more comfortable the more I got out. Skiing on skis that were actually mine would help too. (thanks Root for the loaners!)
  19. oh man i thought you were talking about mine. can't we all just get along? i don't really know how to respond to this...
  20. we've seen the light - now we are just waiting for the return of Douglas.
  21. Dumping at blue right now. Hopefully the rain holds off because the snow is great right now.
  22. I beat Glen! I'm trying!
  23. Just teaching my students and chatting with friends.
