get a pass to Blue next year. better park than CB and jsut as good/if not better than Bear's. and also pletny of oportunities for week night gates.
-
and skier150 knows what he is doing. dont hate. dont turn into those racer guys that hate on the freeriders. like papasteeze said, some people are good teachers and might no be the best "doers". Chris is better than 90% of the people in the terrain park and knows what the hell he is doing. not to mention he is one of the most respectable instructors at Blue for dedicating his entire summer to getting this program started.

some areas are fine and have plenty of snow and someo ther areas that get sun all day and lots of traffic are kinda sketchy. the park is closed all week and they are going to be blowing in it non-stop when temps allow for it... http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.p...t=0entry60103

i think for size.. you would be safe getting skis in the low 170cm range. i dont know what kind of skis you are looking for though when it comes to all around ability of the ski
-
forgot to mention that they have the 25ft flat rail sitting at the bottom of the snowboard school... looks kinda sketchily built, but we'll see. I think Sabia built it from what i hear. and he usually knows what he is doing.
-
but since you arent, i would say no bigger than mid 170s. get something bigger than what you have now. and if you want to use them to ski more than just the park, get something longer
-
I'm in love with my Foils. not only are they amazing in the park, they are a great all-mountain ski (when they have edges). i think i'm going to get another pair next year and save them for real skiing and use the ones i ahve now as my beater pair

whats the point? kinda like snowblades... whats the point. althought i'm sure they arent going to be as lame and looked down upon like snowblades are.
-
good choice. the park has been lacking the past few days because of melting snow... but from the sounds of it, it will be better than before after this week. i cant wait.
-
actually... competitions cost money too. USASA costs over $50 to join and then a cost for each individual event. Going to a different comp every week at different mountains and getting lift tickets at each place adds up too. its not just the racers that have to pay to enter stuff... but i see what you meant. you have to pay to ski gates. there arent gates set-up all over Blue like there are jumps and rails for us.
-
yeah it was great that they were using the features the incorrect way and not the way that they are intended to be used.

From what i have heard... Blue will be closing Sidewinder all this week so that they can replenish their base. Park crue said that they are taking everything out, leveling the jumps, and starting from scratch. Dear John, Dennis Krell Snr. forwarded me the email you sent him on 2/3/06. You will be glad to know that some of the concerns you voiced are similar to our way of thinking here at Blue. The weather this year has been uncooperative, but it seems that winter is coming back finally. We will be rebuilding Sidewinder Park this week, and we are going to change it around,so that all you shreds can get excited again. As you probably know, I am head of Park maintenance [Park Crue], and together with Danny, we will reconstruct the parks to a high standard. During the course of this year,we will have some more new rails as well. We here at Blue are very lucky that our Mountain Manager, [Dennis] is supporting us 100% and as such our intention is to have the Poconos premium park here at Blue. Thanks for your input. Regards, Keith Esmail. its good knowing that they actually listen to what people say this year instead of last year how the only thing they would say is, "thanks for the email". It will be nice having the "Poconos' Premium Park" at Blue.

R.I.P. Lange Boots. Your Comp 100 boots have treated me well for the last 2 years. I don't look forward to buying the bucket-like boots that you will now be making, and probably wont. I'm riding these babies out forever.

i'm not really sure, they all look the same to me in their jackets.
-
that is one of the main reasons why there is so much hostility between both programs... especially since there was nothign done to him about how crude and tasteless his actions were.
-
bow down and try to get along with them? they are the ones that have a problem getting along with us. i have no problem with them until they start talking behind our backs again. last weekend we were in the liftline with hoodies on that said" Blue Mountain Darkside Freeride Team. the coaches were all saying "Darkside? what the hell kind of program is that? who would put their kids in there? they probably stole that name from us. those wannabes." honestly, what 40+ year old mature man would say that? none. they need to grow up and deal with the fact that they arent the only "team" on the mountain anymore and that times have changes since the 1970s. putting people down behind their backs is not the way to earn respect from them. and as for not believing many of the racers want to ski park... then why do they all walk in every morning with a pair of race skis and a pair of twintips for when the race is over? not to mention that some of the kids on the team were once in the race program and left because they would rather do Freeriders.

tomorrow should be good.. with cold temps and snow finaly becomeing hard instead of slush. the lower park was surprisingly good today... Sidewinder.. not so much. i'll be out tomorrow morning nice and early.. and then i'll be with the Darkside Freeriders for the rest of the morning/afternoon. look for me. i'll be there. everything else was good today too. and thank god the rain held off.. thats gonna save some of the spots becoming thin.

i understand that you needed more speed to do that. but make sure that people can hear you when you call your drop. i was standing right next to Pohachek who called his drop and i didnt hear you. if you are going to be doing that i would suggest waiting for it to be completely clear instead of swerving infront of somebody. no bad blood.... just giving you a suggestion so it doesnt happen again.
-
well thats why i said "IF you are going to ski the park"...
-
1 week with good coverage. 2 weeks with decent. possibly 3 depending on weather. i usually drove up on the weekends to check it out. the reason they closed is because they had banquets scheduled in the main lodge, it had nothing to do with snow. i just hope they dont make that same mistake.
-
yeah, the most they have are line-cutting privilages.. they are even allowed to close off a single feature. i think its going to change next year though.
-
if they are open that late... i will be the happiest person. they can if the blow every chance they get. if they stay open that late i think it would bring a bunch of people to Blue for some late season skiing and would definately make people contemlpating getting a season pass to Blue get one for the upcoming season... i just hope they dont prematurely close like they did last year.
-
thats the whole problem. once freeriders is able to close a trail for practicing... the racers are going to shit themselves becaus they wont be the Gods of the mountain anymore. mostly everybody agrees that the park or some features should be closed for the freeriders... until the "power of closing trails" is dispersed among the other programs, they will still think they own Blue. p.s.- i dont know how many times i have gone on liftrides with people who normally dont ski at Blue on the weekends and they always complain that they have never gotten a chance to ski on Razors because its always closed when they are here. i think sometimes the race team should share a little with the paying weekend customes and maybe move over to raceway for their practicing.
-
there wouldnt be such a "rivalry" between the two if the racers would get the sticks out of their asses. i'm sure you ahve seen the racers come flying through the park cutting people off and riding over lips. thats the equivalent of me poaching their course and stopping down on the gates like jibs... it shouldnt happen. i repect what they do... they need to do the same in return thats just dickish. i refer people to the program so that it can get better in the future. not to mention that the coaches who are doing it have more certifications then i will ever have.
-
the only reason that the race team is "a better value" is because they think they own the mountain and everybody treats them like Gods. Many of the coaches are cocky assholes that talk crap on any freestyler... probably because all their kids want to do is go through the park, thats why they all step into their twintips after they are done with their Nazi race practice. that stopped last weekend when they were told by mangaement to keep their mouths shut and be mature. i'm just bitter about the "race gods" at Blue... they get treated too well. if freestylers are paying the sme amount of money for a program, they should ahve the right to close down a trail for practicing too. and no, i'm not paying $75 to help them with the kids and help them film and fix lips. if you are there to leanr from the program its different than helping the coaches out. and most likely if the price was less there would be more kids.... but then there wouldnt be any profit because they still have to pay the coaches.. and any mountain is about making a profit
