  1. Holy crap that's a lot of people that's prob 2% of Montana.
  2. Gotta celebrate another fine season. At the top A couple onesies out today. Winter behind Spring ahead Parked in Kansas Still some snow in Loveland pass
  3. Today was a fun last day of the season. I lounged around this morning and packed up and checked out and didn't get to Abasin until 920am and the lower lot was completely filled up and I parked in the upper lot and there's even a last chance lot further away. I guess being a spring sunny Saturday the day before Easter brought out all the tom dick and Harry's and also the people with new age names like Sierra and Pine Comb lol. The walk from the upper lot to the ticket office wasn't bad as it was all downhill and down about 35 steps and through a tunnel. I signed a petition for climate change and got two fun sized candy bars and up the black mountain express. First run I just skied a groomer on the lower half then took Black mountain to Lenawee and got fresh cord along the snow fences. It's kind of a goofy fall line and nobody ever seems to ski that line so I skied it a bunch today cause it was so good. Other groomers ranged from ok to blue mountain esque. It was gaper day for many and bros and brahs were skiing around with those outdoor speakers. One guy was playing straight up gangsta rap and while I do like to crip hop in skis it wasn't family friendly gosh he should have played something more wholesome like Taylor Swift. Liftlines were about 5 minutes in the morning on Lenawee and black mountain and almost nothing in singles lines. One guy I rode with drove in from Minnesota for 3 days of skiing 13.5 hour drive but he's with his brother and kid to share the driving. Said its two tanks of gas each way. Another guy I skied with gave up beer for Lent and he said it was tough with all the brewery's. I said I always give up fat women for lent but I'm Jewish dude thought I was funny if only fly shawty boos found me as funny as middle aged men. Made my way to Montezuma and put my hyper skating technique into action and was passing people left and right some either don't get a good kick start or don't add to the momentum it's all physics and I like trains choo choo. Montezuma bowl still hadn't softened much until the way bottom and the top part which gets a lot of traffic was like skiing at blue mountain scrapped off areas and sugar piles and wind howling. Thankfully the rest of the mountain wasn't like blue and shortly thereafter the lower half of the front side softened and I did a couple more laps on wide open corn fields. Then walked up to my car which was a slog..had a shot of fireball, had a beer, had a smoke and would have had a pancake if they were available. Called the Denver airport Hyatt place from the lot and reserved a night for $99 a shame I can't take advantage of the free breakfast but my flight leaves at 620am. Oh well might hit up pizza uno later on they have a cheddar bacon tomato thin crust pizza pie I like. I took lots of pictures today. I'll post them in a seperate post. Thanks all for reading my report thread...
  4. Still firm at ABasin and pretty busy. Minor lift lines at the Black mountain and Lenawee lift. Staying on the front side groomers until Montazuma bowl softens up. In the woods now had a mini Reese's and mini kit Kat bar I got at the base. Ok time to get safe.
  5. 29 degrees in Silverthorne and 26 at Abasin should take awhile to soften.
  6. Did you stay at the best western in Waterbury? Only 3.5 star hotel I can think of. I recommend Loveland and Abasin although neither has any 2400 vert runs. Winter park is also still open so that's an option if you want to hit up a mega resort in that case prob do winter park one day and either Loveland or Abasin the other day
  7. Thanks just slept from 6pm-2am I guess I saved money on supper.
  8. I went back to Loveland today for more spring skiing. The temperature was a few degrees cooler than yest ready to begin but still near 40 degrees. I was able to score a lift ticket in the lot for $40 so I saved $31. About the same amount of people as yesterday. Up lift one the main difference was it was a lot windier. Down a groomed and it was firm. Did some woods as well for a safety break then worked my way over to lift 8 via lift 4. Things still weren't that soft over on lift 8 except near the bottom. I skied awesome which was firm except for one pitch in the middle which was buttery cord then I skied under the lift on chets which was just starting to soften a little. Lift 8 was rocking from the winds and I rode it with my arm draped over the back. I'm guessing close to 40mph sustained winds on the top third. I cut back over to lift four and tried out some woods which was still junky snow but kind of surfy. Did some more lift 4 then cut back over to lift 8 to see how things had softened. things were getting nice and soft. Awesome was still buttery smooth due to lack of traffic. The run connecting over was becoming mashed tators with no gravy and Chets run went right past corn to slop was a pretty good leg burner. I finished back at chair 4 with some off trail steeps leading to a mogul field at the end. I managed the bumps nonstop making slow and deliberate turns skied back to the base back to my car back to Silverthorne got tacos and chips and guac from Mexican place and now chillaxing last night in Silverthorne. I'm gonna ski Abasin tomorrow then spend tomorrow night somewhere near the Denver airport and be back home early Sunday afternoon.
  9. At Loveland again today. Scored a $40 lift ticket in the parking lot. Snow is firm now but I think the sun should soften it up soon. Taking a safety break right now.
  10. Wow Lincoln peak for one day..you are hardcore. When are you going to Japan??
  11. You really rack up the vert at Copper. I just got food from jimmy johns. I don't know which mountain I'm hitting up tomorrow. Maybe Abasin.
  12. Two of my favorite Jackson hole lifts are low speed fixed grip Sublette and Thunder and they're direct and the 3-4 lifts I use at Loveland are pretty direct and don't really stop much. Anyway if you get cool runs then low speed lifts are ok but I get spoiled by the six pack at blue. Yesterday at copper was all high speeds except one triple lift and you get so much vert in. A few of the lifts like the American flyer and super bee you get like 2,000 vert right out of the village or base area and then can go higher from there. Those are some long lifts and the terrain is stairstep in nature. Bridger bowl doesn't have high speed lifts and I that mountain. Mad apple sauce..
  13. Loveland Day 4 of 6... Hey all, I'm back from another fun ski day. Today was the warmest day thus far. I took my time getting ready and arrived at the base right around their opening of 9am. To my surprise there were a solid amount of cars and I was maybe in the 6th row with cars filling in fast behind and another row of cars before I was even booted up. It turns out it was some special radio station day and I had to wait in a moderate line for my $71 ticket. Loveland is a much different crowd I'd say with green or black skiers whole copper is mostly blue skiers. That means the steeper blues are actually pretty empty which had the best corn later on. At the top of chair one approaching 930 I overheard snowboarder saying wow there are other lifts besides this one I like it here at Loveland. Was funny but the first lift they took already had them about a thousand vert up and four other lifts go higher. There was a nice breeze but near 50 degrees out and bright sunshine. First run was a stiff groomer over to lift six which is a double with no safety bar. I don't think any of the lifts have a safety bar. On the triples and quads the seats are padded but tilted back. Doubles are old school hard seats. Some of the lifts are pretty long..I don't think any over 9 minutes though. Didn't have any pocket beers today..but like the super bee at copper plenty of time to drink an IPA. Skied over to lift 4 from the top of lift 6 on a variety of trails some ungroomed was actually softening already up lift 4 which to me is one of the $$$$ lifts at Loveland because it rises straight up and then mellows out so the steepest terrain is right under the lift in front of the herb route with a view of I-70 that terrain wasn't that soft yet so I went over to lift 8..cut over to chets run which had been groomed and that was just starting to corn up. Took a safety break in the woods and took pictures of the corn snow. I ended up doing lift 6 five times in a row. It was just so nice over there wall to wall corn snow and only a handful of people. I did the big loopy long run called Awesome and did chets three more times...by the last run the corn there was getting slower and gloppier still real nice but there's only a certain window for that kind of snow before it becomes pasty. I then went back to lift 6 on zippity split. Into the fail safe trees and scrub. That area had some real thick spring snow. I actually Hollywood off a cat track cause these people were contemplating it. Then they caught up to me when I stopped to take pictures. Ended up back on lift 6 got leftover corn cord on the side of the park then did a bump run under lift 6 was pretty tired by then so quit got at least 11 runs so I ain't trippin drove into Frisco went to Pho Bay which is in an old school suites hotel I think Baymount. Had shrimp spring rolls and small pho and iced coffee. They hooked me up with a fat glass of water without me even asking. That's how they do in the Rockies. Food was good back at the crib
  14. Here's a few pictures. I'll post a report and more pictures later.
  15. Having a really nice day so far at Loveland. Things on the lower 2/3 are Corning up nicely. Off trail is still kind of junky snow.
  16. In New York City women are allowed to go topless as well. Wow that was a good nap maybe 5 hours long only place I could get supper at was Wendy's. Buffalo mountain just west of Silverthorne and north of frisco.
  17. I'm super tired I think from all the sun I got today. Snow softened up nicely to a combination of corn and slush. I skied all over mainly the Timberline area and Super Bee area. More of the USASA competition going on and some big dog booters.
  18. Shadows so are you naturally skinny or do you just not eat much??
  19. Back at it again with the turkey Brie pesto crepe.
  20. Thanks started off boozy with a boot up beer and some fireball. Skied five runs so far on the shiros all super nice even ungroomed pretty decent. Having Fritos and an IPA not high on the hill
  21. At copper again today. Nobody here again. Snow still pretty firm but already softening up at the base. Into the 40s already. Super bee lift is long enough to drink a beer slowly.
  22. After my beer break it still wasn't that soft. I skied a run down Jaques and it was very eastern like but most of the others in the timberline area were at least decent groomed snow..bumps were solid woods were manky I made a few hop turns simply to change directions. Skied down to the base from the timberline chair and was still pretty firm until the very bottom. The two beers earlier gav me the alcohol taste so I walked up to the outdoor umbrella bar and had a Jack and Coke for $7. Then walked with my drink into the village and ended up getting a turkey, Brie and pesto crepe from a bakery and ate it on a bench outside with the rest of my JD and Coke. Back up the American eagle which is like a 2,000 vertical foot high speed with a trail map on the safety bar. Gives you something to do on the ride up. I went back into timberline area did a few high speed cruisers still firm went back to the super bee area still firm except for the mini switchback type connector from the center village to the east village. Went up super bee again still couldn't find much corn maybe a little near corn mid mountain and lower was just kind of gluey and legs were tired..terrain is steep enough where I only let me run on greens and easier blues. Terrain a bit to variable to go compoetry mach schnell but with lack of crowds I had a few steezy speed runs for sure. There was also a big USASA championship with super pipe, rail garden, big dawg booters and skiercross. I only rode the lift that goes by the competition once as I was to far left at the bottom for the American eagle so took that lift to timberline. I was the second best parking spot besides where Moe Ghoul would be parked..had a pleasant 20 minute conversation in the lot with lady who lives in Denver and has a place in Silverthorne but from Maryland originally. She was also saying the snow didn't get as soft as expected partly because it started out so cold(still below freezing at 9am at the base) and clouds moved in around 1230'as well. Tomorrow is supposed to be a full 10'degrees warmer than today and sunny. I'm hopeful that the off piste will be nice and can be on my shiros. This is a good parking spot. Tesla charging station. Guy thought I was weird for taking picture whatever enjoy your $100,000 ride. I'm loving the Nissan Rogue.. Ungroomed blue run Jaques..as I stopped to take pictures a 10 year old came straight lining followed by a ski patroller straight lining. Way to get after it. Scenic view very springlike no snow on the trees but the 1" that fell two days ago is still virgin in most of the woods. Just enough to cover up yellow snow.
  23. Another safety meeting spot...now it's cloudy snow really isn't getting that soft except right at the base. Gonna do timberline again and then super bee again. Just use a fork instead of chopsticks voila!!! Ok time for a couple more runs.
  24. Got second beer. Half the time here I don't even feel like going out to dinner so just order pizza or go to jimmy johns for a hoagie. I do wanna try the Vietnamese place in frisco one night. Supposed to be the best Pho in Colorado. Also murphys pub for corned beef nachos. I can't seem to order anything else there although their Cobb salad looks good. I'm practically sitting on top of a speaker. Super relaxing 30 minute two beer break wish I could burn one in this deck but children around. The mint in Silverthorne. You actually pick out your own steak and cook it yourself. I remember it was like $35+ for a steak but came with salad bar and potato. I didn't want to cook it myself so they just prepared it for me. Was a good steak but not double as good as the $18 one at Ruby Tuesdays and the salad bar at Ruby Tuesdays in Allentown is elite. I always go there after I get a haircut cause it's right nearby.
  25. Been there done that silly expensive there. I guess I'm gonna have a second beer first one went down fast.
