January 27th 2017...day 3 of 7 Today was a good one for sure and like any day in the lyfe of GSS hilarity ensued. Today began with a frigid walk to the bagel place in -15 temperatures to get me and atomic Jeff bacon egg and steeze bagel sangs, OJ and a double shot of espresso so I could get caffeined up without the hassle of drinking 16 ounces of coffee. We took the town bus to the mountain again and were on the first civilian gondola with out local buddy Dennis, a couple from Idaho...and a recent transplant from sunny Miami beach. First run on amphitheater was great cord. At the bottom of the thunder chair we joined Dennis and then hit up an immaculate grand and Dennis said we hit something like high 60mph according to his app..then we hit up Bivoac which had been groomed to rendezvous trail back to the Sublette chair hot on his tails and I think I even passed him on the cat track but I have like 50 pounds on him. Back up Sublette and had the groomer run of the trip hitting a rarely groomed ten sleep bowl to cirque to amphitheater and Dennis had no chance in hell of catching me and he was saying how great it was to ski with people who can actually ski..gosh I can barely whirlybird so he was probably talking about atomic Jeff. Then we went back up Sublette and hit Laramie bowl and went Mach looney down that...woo and Dennis said he hit 83mph which I don't believe but prob around 68-70mph down to thunder lift and had a fun run over to the Teton lift where me and Dennis took turns creatively passing each other involving tucking and scorching and laying weight on tails and short cuts whatever works. I love that as we're both competitive people. We lost atomic Jeff as he went to the Casper lift instead of the Teton lift but caught up with him the next run as we were blasting down kemmerer which is one of the steepest groomers ever and one of the few that I'm not comfortable letting it run and had to slow down a few times. Back up Teton lift again said goodbye to Dennis as he had a hot yoga class at 1215 in town and then went down to the tram with a stop to make some yellow snow. I stopped and bought an orange Gatorade at the store at the bottom of the Tram only $3 for a 20 ounce which is an absolute bargain and we had a one tram wait of 10 minutes and got prime spots on the tram so I wasn't in some 6'5 dudes armpit. At the top took a few pictures went down rendezvous bowl which was meh kind of stiff and standing for ten minutes in line and another ten minutes in the tram had my foot feeling some type of way. Then down Bivoac which was a bit skied off to rendezvous trail back to Sublette. Up Sublette and down ten sleep bowl to the cirque to amphitheater to the thunder chair. Then up thunder down upper amphitheater then nez perce which is a gravity traverse over to Casper area to the Casper chair then up Casper chair where a photographer motioned us where to ski so then we skied by photographer so maybe have a picture to check out later I think the number was 51 just for reference so I can check it out online then Jackson face which was all bumps down to the mangy moose for chili, slice of pizza, double Jack and Coke and Long Island ice tea. Then grabbed a 22 ounce IPA for the 3pm hotel bus..had the rosa parks seat in the bus. Drank beer chatted with dude from beautiful Fort Lauderdale oh yeah and somewhere in there fell ass over teakettle outside the mangy moose. Everyday here is fucking great. Doesn't have to be sunny or powder day. Jackson hole is just a great place to ski. JADIJH -
Statistically speaking a place like blue or camelback will have one skier or rider death about once every two years based on skier visits. On any given day you have about a one in a million chance of dying on the slopes. You have a way better chance of dying on the drive to and from the mountain.

Welcome to Jackson hole TP4. On 3pm bus have a 22 ounce beer for the ride. Shadows you could clean the bus windows here. View would be decent if clean. -
Should be back to firm for the weekend. What kind of skis do you ski on???
-
Wow just wow according to our local friend Dennis phone app we hit 83mph today I think more like 70mph but we've all skied for a few decades. Crazy wow.

Having an incredible time today. Waiting for Tram right now. Me and atomic Jeff think MBike Mike, Indiggio and Tarponhead would have an incredible time here due to all the bumps and tree skiing and also the classic hippie music. I'll post a few pics while I have a second. Our 26 year local friend skied the first hour and a half with us and we skied Mach looney speeds on many groomers. Sunny up high and frozen fog below. Great times!!! Boots feel awesome always do by day three. -
No weekend thread cause I'm in Jackson hole. Look for one next Thursday or Friday. Ok bus arriving in Teton village. Happy Friday all.

January 26th 2017 day 2 of 7 Hey all, Today was another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. We took the town bus to the mountain and were once again first civilian gondola with our local friend who skis everyday on a prototype ski which would normally cost $2500 or so. First run was amphitheater to the Thunder quad in about an inch of new pixie dust on top of groomed snow. Temperatures on the mountain were in the low single digits to start and not much wind. Next run was grand and grand woods which was pretty nice and some powdery areas. Up Sublette and down Pepis run to Alta 3 chute..was mostly soft bumps. Up Sublette again and down the woods to the left of Bivoac I think Wally World named after the ski patroller who died in that area several years back. Back down to the thunder lift and we took some action shots on the Grand then up Sublette and took a few videos of tree skiing in the Bivoac woods. After that run skied the Hobacks which are started to get a bit more packed powder..I actually enjoy the chalky snow a bit more than yesterday's sloppy seconds..I've never been a fan of tracked out powder either want untracked or smooth...then took Union pass lift skied down to teewinot up teewinot up apres vous and doodled around the right side of Satatoga bowl to St Johns which was a mogul field and hollywooded past some goobers then had a late lunch at the Handlebar in the four seasons soft pretzel to share with cheese sauce for dipping and hot wings for me and pastrami sang for atomic Jeff..Arnold Palmer got me and Pacos IPA for Jeff and now riding the town bus back to the 49er. Back a little early so hope housekeeping is done cleaning our rooms. They have a tendency to move really slow and have caught them sitting on end of the bed watching TV. The sun tried to peak out today and looks like maybe tomorrow it will be sunny but a lot colder with lows around minus ten. JADIP probably about 25k of vert skied today I'm tired but not as tired as yesterday. JADIJH -

On the town bus to the hill. So much nicer than the hotel bus lots of poor locals talking about recent trips to Japan. -

I just walked over to the loaf and jug to get a few drinks and snacks for the room and now I'm exhausted. Skied about 20k of vert by my count but only two or three of the runs were groomers. -
It's their business they can do what they want. We got shit from people cause we were closed on Black Friday...just seemed dumb to me to be closed on thanksgiving Thursday and be open Friday vs everybody having a four day weekend. VTMark post pictures on Facebook today and Blue looked decent. Still solid coverage. I think JLaw will be up tonight so maybe he or TP4 or VTMark will post a report.

January 25, 2017 Day 1 of 7. Hey All, Finished with a fun first day at Jackson Hole. The bus to the mountain was packed with French people. We secured our 7 day lift tickets for $530 thanks to the 40% season pass discount and managed first civilian gondola with a local who skis everyday who we've seen the last few years. He impressively has over 1500 lifetime days here. First run was a groomed amphitheater to Thunder chair in flat light. Then Grand woods which were playful and had some pockets of leftover fresh. Up sublette and down 10 sleep bowl to the cirque which for pretty tracked out yesterday but still decent. The mountain was super empty today and no liftlines at all. Up Thunder and down our secret pow stash found a few fresh leftovers..then up Thunder again and down Laramie bowl which was groomed on the left side. Up Sublette and hit up Bivoac woods which was my first tree skiing of the season and nice to know I've still got it..then up Sublette again and over to the Hobacks..the entrance to the hobacks was slightly sketch but farther down was super good with about 700 vert of barely tracked powder in the middle section. There were hoots and hollers..wahahahaha. Then up Union pass lift over to Teeeinot to apres vous down a shitty grooomer to Teton lift then into the Wahaahahaoey glades which were pretty nice and down to Casper chair. Up Casper and over to Thunder..final run consisted of thunder woods, riverton bowl and a lower face. Was pretty cold today with temperatures in the single digits but I got warm on any non groomer runs. Looks like sunshine tomorrow and TP4 will be here in a few days. Didn't see Harrison fords plane at the airport. We did last year. Conditions are good. Me and Jeff are picky so not that into sloppy seconds but better than blue is right now and probably the best skiing we'll have all week.
