  1. $20k wow that's not bad for kutztown way way way less than the average.
  2. I know some of the new Tripoli horse farm people. One girl I know grew up in a 7 bedroom house up there and has a horse. I'm friends with the guy who owns AutoApproved on the east side of Allentown and he's had people driving across the state for a deal. Do they even have to prove income when applying for financing? I've just stated a number before with no proof at all yet when I applied for my apartment I needed to bring a recent paystub. I hear you on the new car thing. I know fairly wealthy people who refuse to buy new cars due to depreciation. Thanks zonked and glad my input on average starting salaries is still relevant. Making $35-$40k is fine for someone in their 20s. Its if they owe $100,000 in student loans where shit can get rough
  3. Guess you won't want to try my strawberry cough this weekend root. Just picked it up yesterday.
  4. Must be cold if JFDan is wearing the orange hood.
  5. Root did you delete my comment?? Strike two.
  6. Thanks shadows. Yeah I guess those numbers seem decent for people with a college degree but if you have kids double those numbers unless the spouse is also bringing in good $$$$. I think a major factor is being a minimilist. Aside from ski stuff I really don't buy anything, I don't have cable, I barely have any furniture, I wear the same purple polo shirt for 4 years...wearing it today...then you have more money for fun stuff. If somebody makes over $60k they prob aren't buying a used car in the boondocks. I believe the average salary around here is about $35,000 a year and that's not starting that includes all people from fast food workers to doctors. Average for a household is around $55,000.
  7. Nice reports. I kept all reports for Jackson hole in the same thread cause my goal was 5,000 views in the thread...snowbird tomorrow for the big powder day? How early do you get in line for the Tram?? Report says 3" and looks deeper!!!!
  8. I don't remember you explaining anything just that you'd commute to philly for $60,000 a year. I think it depends on a variety of factors..whether you have kids, what your living expenses are like and if you're in debt. I do know what when I graduated from college in 2001 most starting salaries for business school undergrads were around $35-40k a year..I actually made $38k at Merrill lynch and today starting salaries aren't much higher. First year I worked for my dad I made $22,000 and still went to Jackson hole that year but only for five days. To make 5 times my age we'd have to match our best year which I think was 2008..so I make somewhere between $60,000 and $185,000.
  9. The guys at the CioccaSubaru dealership make at least that but they are super high volume. Anyway $60,000 a year would be about 1600-1700 per paycheck every two weeks if you didn't have any write offs or deductions. My office manager makes over $60,000 a year..probably closer to $65k with bonus but she's a broke single mom putting two kids through college.
  10. I still don't get where that $60,000 number comes in. $60,000 a year is barely middle class. After taxes that's like $40,000 a year.
  11. Hunter is the best ski area in the Catskills but not the best one for intermediates. Belleayre only has two or three blues from the top.
  12. Nice although this should be in the Utah thread :-)
  13. Boom...I need to close the office if it snows over 2"
  14. It's gonna rain in Vermont Wednesday morning but doesn't look like much rain. Just be hopeful of snowmaking and natural snow after the thaw freeze. I don't think it's worthy of cancelling it's just gonna put the woods out of play most likely.
  15. When next years season pass goes on sale soon it also includes the rest of this season.
  16. Have fun I'm at work...post a report I should be there tonight around 7.
  17. It's simple supply and demand. They set the highest price point that people will pay. If people would pay $80 that's what it would cost. Blue is expensive but has deals like $30 Sunday nights, $20 for night skiing on the super bowl and $14 for a four hour ticket on Valentine's Day. Jackson hole charges $130 a day..it's not about warranting a particular price that's just what people are willing to pay. It's basic lemonade stand economics.
  18. Almost every big game thats lopsided at halftime the other team comes back and ties it. I'm not a big sportsball fan but it was the same thing in that penn state bowl game. Your grandkids won't care about the game they'll be more into the flying car races and robot Olympics. I'm out of touch with football but saw that Tom Brady is about the oldest pro football player to still be relevant so that makes it more impressive. 39 years old wow just wow.
  19. Don't think Platekill is open midweek.
  20. Welcome to Utah...Ridge I think you are the only Patriots fan I know.
  21. Are there any fields with a starting salary of $100,000 a year with a bachelors degree??
  22. Wow just wow pocono
  23. First Windham..second belleayre..third Hunter for intermediates.
  24. The question is do you live to work or work to live. Most people work to live and nothing wrong with going to work regularly to pay for your bills and the things you enjoy to do.
  25. He got there earlier than you.
