  1. I think ski freak hit the nail in the head. Also I honestly believe that consumer spending has been down since the election. Consumer spending slowed in November, falling household income and higher debt attributed to that. Maybe that's why we're still waiting on pricing for the condos at Blue even though they said they'd have pricing in early fall.
  2. Well the most I ever skied at Blue in a season was 96 days in 06-07 and so that season was about $6 per day on my pass but more realistically somewhere around $15 per day. That's a lot less than I spend when I go out for karaoke.
  3. Hey all, I'm back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. It was 31 degrees and still pretty dark out when I arrived at 730am. In the house were JFBB Dan, Toast, Rose, NMSki, Nastar Glenn, George, Slim, bumper Chris, Gary and many others. First three runs were on challenge which turned out to be the run of the day. Firm groomed snow a bit softer than frozen cord and pretty smooth. Lazy mile was good early but got really chunky and sugary fast. The last corner on paradise was spicy and upper Main Street was decent early with lower being filled with small cookies. While lift lines were a non issue the runs were pretty busy with lots of goobers in the house...ended up skiing 15 runs from 8-1020 then into the lot for a quick beer with NMSki and JFDan and now at work eating Arbys and about to go through a pile of mail. See everybody this weekend on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Weather looks good for both day.
  4. And think the topic was more that there aren't a lot of bargains during this holiday week. I feel like you have to be tuned into things to get the best bargains like when TV stations and radio stations offer up cheap passes along with ski club deals and deals from various consumer products like soda or gas station deals. I appreciate Enjorales and Ski2Live pointing them out. My guess is this week the majority are paying full holiday prices and some are using recent Xmas gift cards as well or vouchers. Blue finally had moderate crowds today after lower crowds all week.
  5. What was your per day cost last season??
  6. Way to get after it!!! On way home gotta stop at work for a bit report to follow later. Was a fun session with lots of PASRs
  7. Indiggio I'm sure the people who run Blue think on that level. Sheesh I'm glad 95% of my customers just pay the price we charge while the other 5% haggle or bring lower price quotes from competitors. I couldn't imagine being in the PA ski business...its just so risky. They must have a hell of a credit line at Blue mountain cause I see their cash flow fluctuating a ton. I do believe that during the weekend and holiday periods the average Blue mountain customer is coming from a higher income household. The amount of $100,000 cars from NJ and NY on busy days is astounding. Blue mountain is located in the perfect area to charge the maximum for lift tickets as it draws clientele from some of the wealthiest counties in the country..Bucks, Montgomery, most of North Jersey and NYC. Average income in the Lehigh valley is closer to that of the national average and casual skiers and riders I know from the Lehigh valley don't even go once a season and shake their head at the prices yet drop $100 going to an Eagles game or a couple grand going down the shore every summer or Disney world.. $70 is a lot for a day of skiing for one person. Shit for a family of 5 with rentals you're talking $500 before anybody even eats lunch.
  8. Me.... Ja Rule Living It Up and Ludacris Rollout were amoung the flashback hits pumping at the base...didn't bring me down!!! I hope it was the remix...G Unit!!!! 50 cent was actually at the liquor store on cedar crest Blvd back in the fall..biggest thing to happen in the Lehigh valley since Lil Bow Wow was at Vision club.
  9. I sometimes go just so I can write a report.
  10. I would never be mad at a cool report as I like having a lot to read on here. I'm not fond of merging threads. I like having my own thread everytime I ski and I know my reports get a lot of views. I would have done a real time report but didn't wanna damage my phone and should have used a plastic bag like toast. I was so soaked that a check my parents gave me for Xmas that was in my wallet was nearly destroyed..it's alright I dried it out...but fuck a 37 year old Jew needs that Xmas cash to replenish the money I spent on others Xmas gifts lol funny but true.
  11. If ticket prices this week were half price at Blue I don't think they'd get double the business. I think they'd get a bit more business though especially from college kids and families. Yup especially because NYE/NYD are historically not that crowded.
  12. I was just mentioning how Blue and many others no longer have a morning ticket. When I was a kid before I had a season pass at Blue I would usually get a morning ticket which was 730-1230 and sometimes stay till like 2 Trust me Blue wishes they had a shit show with lines back to the asphalt but the weather this week hasn't been conducive to that. And I think it's always worth the drive even if only a few runs are open. If you really wanna ski then what's the big deal lapping the same runs over and over again.
  13. My favorite was your Hunter report that was really Jay peak lol...and I give JFDan credit for a good report.
  14. Yeah we need more reports like this...
  15. Goobers don't care if the conditions are garbage. Remember to them sugar snow is better than ice and powdery but a part of me was thinking yesterday that Blue might charge a little to much. Quoted for truth.
  16. He still won't make first chair lol
  17. Everybody was getting after it yesterday.
  18. Tomorrow is gonna be one for the books up in northern Vermont...enjoy!!!
  19. They charge holiday prices cause it's a holiday week and lodging is all about supply and demand...or at least perceived demand. Your best bet might be just driving to Whitehall and getting a room at the ramada for under $100 a night and driving 15 miles to blue. I honestly think that lift ticket prices are expensive. We had that discussion yesterday at Blue and none of us think we would go more than a couple times a year if we had to pay $70 everytime we wanted to ski. I would have loved to go out west this week but airfare and lodging are $$$$ now and in January it's much more reasonable and less crowds. A good day to go is New Year's Day..still holiday rates but it's a particularly uncrowded day and the weather looks stellar this weekend.
  20. By 915 it was poopy
  21. Because it was empty and toast parks at the top now so I took his spot.
  22. Nice report JFDan and Nice pictures Toast!! The drive up took me about 15 extra minutes and all I heard on the radio was accident after accident. The timing of the snow couldn't have been more perfect as they groomed before the snow began to fall at 6am and there was barely anybody at 8am. How is it possible at Blue the true to stroll to the six pack at 7:55am and get first chair on a pow day and for those naysayers who deny today was a pow day you weren't on an immaculate challenge the first three runs. Was a cord carpet with a pow carpet and toast was saying they mowed the grass so that's a triple carpet. First chair was Indiggio, JFDan, Slim and a few randoms one of whom tried to get in front of me skating to the top of challenge. Little did he know I used to spend a lot of time at the fun rink back in the day and even took lessons from the DJ/janitor/ snack bar manager...X-Ing was pure sex..woo solid 3" there..Main Street was really nice first hour and a half..paradise was alright not enough pitch same with lazy. I was a little sad that nightmare-Dreamweaver wasn't open for the fresh but oh well. -Dan, Nastar Glenn, Justo, MBike and Rose were in the house. Apparently late arrivals had to drive through palmerton as the mountain road was blocked for awhile. Around 10am we were in the lot having a beer and was changing over to rain then the people started arriving and the conditions changed from hero to mank. Had another lot beer soaked off my ass then went to the BMDI with -Dan and here in the A 97% of the snow is melted with moderate rain. What a treat getting several runs of freshies.
  23. What a pow morning wooo. Just had BMDI in its -Dan report to come soon.
  24. Made it up in 48 minutes. Snowing moderately and around 30 degrees. Looks like solid snow for a few hours. 1-2" at the base likely way way more at the peak. A shame not much good powder day terrain is open.
