Storm day in the Tetons..storm day tomorrow base depth climbing through the 80s...should be over 100" in a few days. Woo -
Hey All, I'm back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 730am and the temperature was 37 degrees under fog and mist with some clear areas. In the house were Atonic Jeff, Johnny Law, JFBB-Dan, Toast, NMSki, Ryan, MBike Mike, Gary, Slim, concussion Ted and many others. As we stood waiting for the six pack to open concussion Ted told us that paradise was good but before we skies that we were awarded first civilian tracks on razors edge and the snow was good some little whoop dees and rollers to watch out for and setting up gates on razorback. Then I skied a few runs on paradise and it was like my favorite color..butter. Smooth and fast. Lazy mile to falls wasn't bad but still a lot of congestion on the falls. Main Street got beat up fast and we all had a fun run over to Burma road and back where we got a nice window without any people at the corners. Temperatures rose into the 40s and crowds remained light likely due to the early ominous weather. I believe we got something like 11-12 runs between 8-10am the lift didn't stop much and most of the PASRs checked out the new run which is apparently legit. After skiing had a few dirt wolfs. We were going to go to CBI but it's closed now so we went to the BMDI instead for a variety of egg, waffle, bacon, sausage and chili dishes. Service always good there. Coffee on demand got caffeined up..back in the A now almost 50 degrees. Ski everybody tomorrow morning. Looks like colder temperatures and a return to snowmaking.

That's fine for racing.

You don't need much terrain to set up gates for practice. A lot of the best racers come from small Midwestern hills. Even ski Dubai has race training.

Earliest I've seen the Guns blasting.

No but you might get put in the database. If you just get in a turkey tuck with poles pointed to the sky ski patrol will leave you alone regardless of speed. Blues usually have the most deaths cause low level skiers can attain high rates of speed in a hurry. True double diamond terrain isn't always that dangerous as well as tight woods as you are picking your way down turn by turn vs flying. -
Definitely not the usual sequence this season. Challenge is usually open before razors and they haven't even begun to blow snow on lower sidewinder skiercross which has made falls extra spicy
-
People who live in the Lehigh valley will work at Blues new condo/ hotel complex. I don't expect their hospitality peeps to rival those of the mandarin oriental or four seasons but likely a step up from the Palmeranians

Thanks for the photo C1er I always like your reports. Are you still doing some business in Montana?? We had a radar gun out at one of the PASR days at Jackson frost circa 2009. It's about 15 mph slower than raZors at blue but still fast. My uncle who used to patrol at Jack Frost used to talk about Floyds like it was a no fall zone on Denali...legendary tales of that run.

Hey all, I'm back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 12:30PM and there weren't to many cars and the temperature was 39 degrees which is mad goldilocks. Not to hot, not to cold...just right. A few minutes later boarded the poconos coldest six pack and first run was paradise which was very nice. Not many people on it and most of the people were goobers who are too slow to get in the way. The snow on Paradise was just the beginning of spring conditions. Fast but a little soft. The snow on Main Street was more winter conditions with some sugar and ice. I did find a little swath of fresh cord on the left side of Barneys bumps which was pretty nice. The quad was running as well and I rode it a few times for a change of scenery. Razors has good coverage but they still need to fully groom it out as there are cookies the size of watermelons...nightmare had a good amount of snowmaking. No snowmaking yet on dream weaver, not much on challenge and none on sidewinder. Lazy mile was alright some runs it was crazy mile while others I had nice long sections with not many people. I took the Main Street chair once and to illustrate how uncrowded it was the Burma chair wasn't even running. I rode with a lady from upstate New York who said she was overdressed. I was overdressed a little as the temperature rose into the low to mid 40s. I forgot to mention but when I arrived Blues new mascot Carve was out on the snow and there was a tent looking for new employees. I know they are hiring ambassadors if anybody is interested in a free season pass. I took the Main Street chair so I could ski widowmaker but it wasn't open at least from the top so I took easy out to vista to Burma back to the six pack. Then ended with another lazy and another paradise. I managed 10 runs in an hour and 45 minutes. The pace prob could have been better considering no lifelines but the lift stopped prob every other ride. In the lot I chatted for a minute with the guy parked next to me and Marty as well had my last dirt wolf leftover from last weekend then picked up more dirt wolf on the way home for this weekend. Was a decent session. If conditions were a 4 out of 10 Tuesday night I'll call today a 6 out of 10. The stupid little whoop Dee doos after the falls are gone and coverage is very good. See everybody this weekend.

I wonder if the walls will be cinder block.

16" storm total so far. Finally cracked the 200" mark. Supposed to snow till Thursday. Hopefully more when we arrive next Sunday. -
No I didn't. The one chick from BC Mary I believe offered me free skiing there cause I won a bet with her but I never went there for the free voucher. I've been on Root 100 in macungie many times but never went the five miles down church street since they built the new lodge and hotel and all the other stuff. I remember the viva la bam episode at BC. That was awesome.

Doesn't smugglers notch have a triple diamond. Jackson hole doesn't even have that. -
Right on TP4 I was only at Doe/BC once in 1995 cause I got a free pass from a ski patroller neighbor. My impression was this place sucks and is the same distance from me as blue which is awesome for PA. I do wanna go there sometime for the disco fries. Don't think I'll ever ski there.

Wow what happened. Is that right after it was Doe mountain??

It's not ready yet. No idea what the rating will be probably a blue. Blues ratings are wack anyway. Paradise is steeper and faster than lazy and is a green and the chute is more challenging than nightmare which is a double black. If you can get there for opening shouldn't be too bad but anytime later and will be crowded. Sunday will also be more crowded than Saturday due to the weather. -

Widowmaker is what used to be raceway. Between easy out and come around.
