Hunter is supposed to get 1.5 inches of rain and their temperatures are then gonna be similar to the poconos. Highs in the 40s and lows in the high 20s. I don't see them opening for a couple more weeks.

I agree with you. Projected lows of 28 for mount pocono...big boulder is in a microclimate so could be 26-27 degrees...

Hunter is farther than that 2+ hours from NYC The Catskills peaked from the 60s to early 90s and since has declined economically. There's alot of poverty up there and alot of the former businesses in the town of Hunter closed down around 2000. The demographics changed alot. In the 80s and early 90s Hunter was a wild playground for NYC skiers and riders. There were rowdy bars and even a hotel with a grotto. That demographic of yuppies wifed up and had kids and made places like Okemo super successful.

After the midweek rain if we can just bring the temperatures down about five degrees overnight we could have some decent overnight snowmaking!!!

The rental car companies are so freaking convenient. I think they pride themselves on getting people into the car in a few minutes.

When I was at Northstar with family we rented a car. For all those people a car rental will be more cost affective than a bunch of shuttles and save alot of time. You can use rental to get everybody to Northstar and rental car to explore other mountains. It's a no brainer.

No ski season for me is complete without a visit to Jackson hole. Atomic Jeff just booked airfare yesterday for Jackson Hole from January 24th-February 1st. This season from January 10th-30th at Jackson hole season passholders from any resort in the world get half price lift tickets. This will save us a couple hundred dollars. So far the upper mountain has received 64" and the lower mountain not much as they've been blowing alot of snow. I see titty sparkles.

I think the long haul lift at Montage mountain is the longest lift in pennsylvania. I think 5,000 feet long...that similar length to some major lifts in the Catskills and northern Vermont but doesn't cover as much very because the upper half of the mountain is so flat. I like the north face and some of the long runs from the top. If we do a PASR day I'll go and I think their morning deal was like $30 or something.

Did Big boulder blow early this morning?? Maybe blue mountain will sell them any remaining snow they have otherwise it will go to waste it will be back into the rivers and lakes where it was before. QFT!!!
