It's just crazy they didn't really blow in February. -
I don't want a combined season pass cause I don't really care for the other non blue spots. I only go to camelback when it's free and blue isnt open. Jack Frost is good for a few runs on Floyd's and the elevator but those lifts are so slow and runs so short. I wish a new ski area was built in the poconos with about 1,000 vert to compete with blue. Once you ski blue alot you aren't gonna want to mess with Shawnee and JFBB and camelback. I have no interest in a combined pass for the poconos. It's best for the 15 day a year people though who clog the place up on busy days.

Hey all, It's almost the weekend. Looks like tomorrow will likely be a washout. Anybody still planning on skiing tomorrow in the rain??? Sunday looks like a nice day and maybe we'll have a little beer party in the lot since its almost spring time. Anybody gonna be at Blue Sunday????

We've just been so spoiled by excellent conditions the last two months. At least you got to hang with Matt Edge. I'm Glad he got a helmet. He skis too nutty not to wear one. -

Do you think the blowing last night was for marketing reasons? Maybe April 4th as the closing date which is a Saturday. I'm gonna book my Colorado trip later than that to be sure. Blue is never open on Easter for religious reasons I guess just like XMAS. -

Boner City...makes sense to blow snow since its gonna rain an inch Friday night and Saturday!!! -
Hey All, I'm back from another session at Blue mountain the true mountain. The drive took extra long due to a bad accident just south of the Triechlers bridge where a small car rear ended a cement truck. The entire front of the car was totalled with airbags deployed...serious carnage. That added a few minutes to the drive and I arrived in a super muddy lower lot at 3:05PM with a temperature of around 40 degrees under mostly sunny sky's with moderate winds at the base. Atomic Jeff arrived a few minutes later straight from work. First run was Razors which was firm on top and kind of choppy firm below..not that great. Nightmare to Dreamweaver was alright on the top but super choppy and rough the last pitch. Lazy mile was too slow to be much fun... Winds weren't the 50mph gusts reported by ZZSlope earlier but at least 25mph at the summit keeping things a little cooler. We rode the lifts with some interesting charecters. A dude wearing a Balaclava, a kid who's homeschooled and a couple people who had never seen fat skis before. People act like fat skis are a new thing. I've been on fat skis 7 years and I was late to the game. Paradise was pleasent and we skied it a few times. Smoother than other runs. We then ended with a pair of runs on Razors edge which had gotten a bit softer on the lower half. Don't be fooled by the warm weather it's not spring conditions just yet. Tonight could be rough as everything firms up with piles everywhere. I'm sure JLaw will say its rowdy. Looks like a washout Saturday with heavy rain and I likely won't be out until Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to some smooth groomers!!!

Conditions were definitely not that good this afternoon...I still had a few nice runs. I'm on the way home from Blue right now putting air in my tires. I'll post a full report a little later.. Sad that Saturday is gonna be a washout with an inch of rain and 50 degree temperatures. I'm less confident about an April closing now.

Isn't it also about being a better teacher??? I sometimes do one leg drills on tuts lane...mainly cause it looks cool. Did you teach Matt Edge the thing where he puts his poles behind his back?? He just grinds yeah grinding grinding grinding. Being an instructor sounds miserable. It's crazy how many crappy skiers are instructors.

His brother Kragan also snowboards part of the time. I remember kragan having one outfit he wears when he snowboards and a different one when he skis. PoconoOceanCity hasn't been at Blue in like 8 years. -
PSIAis Professional Ski Instructors of America. I think you have to be a member of their organization and wear a pin to be an instructor. You also have to take tests to advance from one level to the next and as you get to higher levels you get paid more. From what I remember reading instructors make about minumum wage at level one and level two instructors make about one dollar an hour more and level three instructors make like $10 an hour but more for private lessons plus tips. Plus they get free season passes and discounts on gear. Like 90% of lessons around here are for beginners so they spend alot of time on flat trails yelling pizza and French fries. They also usually get discounts on pizza and French fries. You can learn all the PSIA stuff without having to be an instructor right??? If you have the cash. Working for a ski area and taking time out to help noobs seems like a drag. So I'm guessing people can take the PSIA clinics the instructors take if they just pay for it. I've never cared about a mountain experience vs being at the mall or whatever. I've never thought blue was like being at the mall. Skiing for me has always been about the thrill and adrenaline of going fast. I've never really cared about the views or nature and that sort of thing. There are enough freaking skiers we don't need anymore!!!!!! Anyway I'm guessing alot of people just learn from their friends. I took a first time on skis lesson at big boulder in 4th grade but knew what I was doing cause I was a rollerskater. Then when I skied again in 6th grade I took another lesson but me and my friend left the lesson midway through cause we wanted to ski more and in the lesson we kept stopping. That's been it for me and I'll never take another lesson but I hate people telling me what to do.
