Blowing on almost all open terrain along with an assault on tubing. Snowmaking of course helped cause they blew for many hours and there were rollers on alot of the runs. The lack of visibility on some runs did make things a bit rowdy. -
Is Bear Creek open? What about tubing?

Hey all, I'm back from another session at Blue mountain the true mountain. It has been exactly 4 weeks since opening day and as I pulled into the lower lot just before 730am the snowmaking cannons were firing blasting snow on almost all of the open terrain. The temperature was in the upper 20s under overcast sky. In the house were Atomic Jeff, NMSki, Johnny Law, Justo, Toast, Root, Rose, MBike Mike, Nastar Glenn, dude I went to high school with Jason, Ryan, Ty, dude with beard and at least two Gary's. First run down Paradise was good IMHO in my humble opinion. Year a little slow and sticky but consistently so with a dark sky and guns blasting a d whoop dee doos. Getting over to lazy and Main Street on tuts lane under the guns was interesting with one super sticky spot that mad things a bit herky jerky. Main Street had ungroomed fresh manmade..some good some bad lower was rough as it gets with 90% of the skiers and riders starting from the summit lodge. Lazy mile was crazy mile pretty much everytime I skied it but the falls had some nice snow for those who are in the mood for double diamond terrain..homestretch was nutty. We all smelled a skunk riding the 6 pack..the last run on lazy mile was so spicy with the race kids, PASRs and all the Tom Dick and Harrrys..not saying it was that crowded with no real liftlines but still a solid amount of people on the trails. My last run down Lazy nearing 10am I pretty much high fives two people while flying down and speaking of spicy I drank spicy beer NMSki brought, also Roots new beer which had a good banana like flavor and apparently pretty high test and also some dirt wolf and hop ranch. Was a fun session but again prob spent more time in the parking lot than skiing but its all good in my hood cause as Johnny Laws favorite Annie song says,"The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"...UV index today -1...SMH shaking my Herman!!! I'll catch some of you tomorrow.

Looks like tomorrow might be like Johnny Laws favorite Annie song. Just got Dirt Wolf...two four packs...anybody have SPF-60 I can borrow??? -
The best food I've had at blue were Roots ribs in the parking lot. GSSucks breakfast sangs and the various sausages people have brought have been all top notch as well. A new delicacy I discovered is bacon wrapped chicken liver which they have at the farmers market. I imagine they'd go good with beer. Chicken liver is alot different than beef liver, more mild. I'll have to bring a whole bunch of them up to Blue sometime. They only cost about 40 cents each

What was the temperature like at Jack Frost today??? I'm thinking cold enough to blow snow perhaps
-
Windham was where I went on my first ski trip with my dad in 8th grade. Left Friday afterschool and returned Sunday after skiing. Stayed at the Windham Arms hotel...that was my first big mountain skiing!!!

Nice root...windham really isn't that far from you.

Yeah I think we were a little optimistic as the forecast a week ago showed alot of snowmaking chances. I doubt razors will be open until early to mid January. Hopefully they can get razors open in time for all the junior and collegiate races. I don't know if you know but Razors is the premier racing run in the mid Atlantic. -

119 days that season. I've been slacking on the reports. Lately I've been writing them on my drive home from blue at all the red lights on 145. -

You should hit Blue in the spring. Maybe it will be free again for passholders from other areas. Haven't seen you at Blue since 2006. I remember you saying you like my reports...that's what I like to hear...I love having my already giant ego inflated!!! -

TNT not that horrible...50 and rain for the Lehigh valley on XMAS eve but blue is always closed on XMAS anyway...I think they'll survive with the current terrain open if they can blow several hours the next two nights. If you think back to two years ago they were only open one weekend on vista chair only and didnt reopen till after XMAS again vista chair only. If it was in the 60s with rain for multiple days it would be the true death blow...finish him...that I was talking about yesterday. Wow just wow and last weekend with the snowmaking cannons blasting on razors we were talking about the possibility of it opening for this weekend. Forecasts change!!!! Last year I recall Blue being near 100% open at XMAS. They blew so much the first half of December that any rain and warmth hardly put a dent in the base. I've skied icy conditions in Vermont way more than in PA...Vermont is notorious for rain storms followed by flash freezes. When we get rain it's usually still above freezing for awhile after. -

Mid December weather has nothing to do with how late local ski areas stay open...if they can blow alot in January and February and march isn't crazy warm they'll be fine. If not we'll all be playing golf by St. Patrick's day. I don't remember you being big on spring skiing. Wow just wow poconoOceanCity you haven't skied later than February in PA since 2009...you are an early season warrior though lol I love top ten stats. -

The trend continues. It was supposed to go down to the high 20s but is in the mid 30s...no snowmaking. Lets try again tonight. -
Hey all, After four fall weeks of skiing its finally winter on Sunday. I plan to end fall and begin winter skiing the best mountain within 15 minutes of Sheetz. Anybody else gonna be at Blue mountain the true mountain? Will likely be fairly light crowds as alot of people are in holiday mode. The temperature will drop nicely by Saturday morning and I'm expecting a full on assault from the snowmaking cannons. Low 20s Saturday morning has me SMHerman!! Partly sunny sky's both Saturday and sunday with calm winds is nice!!! Ski u later!!!!
