The new Lenawee 6 pack is finally open at ABasin..it’s going to dramatically change the way the mountain skis. You literally can have your last sip of beer or Bloody Mary at the mid mountain lodge and be back in Montezuma bowl or traversing over to the Beavers in like five minutes. The old lift was a slow very long triple and the line could get very long on most weekdays and pow days. Shit will get tracked up faster though that’s the downside. -

Killington received 2 feet of snow at the peak. That’s probably why I didn’t see Drew today. -
12/17/22…lots of new terrain open.

No worries…it’s so nice to have two new Roots. I like Nightmare but it doesn’t flow as well as midway to lower main. It’s progressive taking connector all the way to Vista to access midway…soon that slog will be no more when the super summit safari six pack opens. -
Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at dark O’clock and it was in the low 30s under partly sunny sky’s with light winds. In the house were Johnny Law, PARidge, JFDan, Indiggio, Atomic Jeff, Mute, Ryan, Enjorales, Pops, Toast, Enjorales cousin, Mixilplix, Antman, Bethlehem Ford guy, MBike Mike, Harold, Salty, Dirtwolf, Charles, Falco, Gary, Rodney, Johnny Law and many more. First civilian quad to coming soon which was pretty good semi stiff cord. Lazy mile was pretty decent and th corners were slick. Midway and lower main were good and no cookies and it’s a bit of a mind fuck with the new lift going over it. Paradise also had good snow but it was next level crowd with all the race team Jabronies. I skied about 9 runs in an hour and a half then hungout in the lot for another hour and a half and enjoyed a few beers and some chips..in the lot the clouds took over and the wind picked up and even with an ambient temperature in the upper 30s it felt much colder. All in all it was a fun session and Blue is finally selling lift tickets which is good for their bottom line. JADIP and happy holidays.

Did your cats help you with the shoveling? I used to shovel at my parents house and I was a nice guy and let the agnostic cocker spaniel run around but she’d just get in my way but I would still say thanks for helping. -

Jackson Hole athlete Owen Leeper dropped a new edit yesterday and it’s sick!!! -
That’s how it was last friday, Monday and Wednesday this week. Fantastic stuff. The Covid season with the limited lift capacity there were often full lift line corrals very early into the morning session on weekdays. The only positive two seasons ago was that 22 was wide open on the drive up and now it’s slow traffic but still only adds a few minutes.

Yeah they weren’t called terrain parks they were called snowboard parks. The one season around the mid 90s Blue had a crazy deep base because it snowed alot plus they blew tons of snow I know they were 100% for Xmas. The Falls had like an 8 foot base and there was a jump carved out into the left side spine a nice side hit, to work on doing like a 70 degree air turn..I called it an airplane turn….ski patrol would say shit like,”keep your skis on the snow” and if skiing fast they’d say,”I wanna see some turns out of you”.

New Purchases... What did you buy so far
GrilledSteezeSandwich replied to phillycore's topic in Gear
For sure…I rented skis in 6th and 7th grade, not seasonal rentals like having to go to the rental shop every ski day. 8th grade I had my pick of my cousins old skis and grabbed a pair of K2 170 length skis and did a seasonal rental on boots. At the ski shop, Nazareth sporting goods the guy said the skis were antiquated and my dad said he was just trying to get us to buy new skis. Then the next season in 9th grade I bought brand new skis from Nestor’s which no longer exists. It was replaced by a store called Buckmans -

Wow those are some nice skis. -
Lazy mile is open. The snow report did not mention how much new snow fell.

I remember those no snowboarding days blue was one of the last hold outs and Finally allowed shredders aka knuckledraggers who referred to us as two planker wankers on the slopes for the 96-97 season. At the time I believe it was only Taos, Alta, Deer Valley and Mad River glen that didn’t allow snowboarders. There’s was so much growth in snowboarding during the 90s that a solid 50% of snow sports enthusiasts I knew in college were snowboarders. Then a lot of snowboarders became skiers as they neared middle age.

I’ll study the maps a little more but at one time lazy was a Blue/green which is an appropriate rating for it. Also they went from 921 vertical feet in 1988 to 923 vertical feet in 1991 must have been a new geological survey. I enjoy the maps thanks for posting Indiggio!!

Live at like the four seasons in Jackson hole they have all that there but you’ll still have to take a bus or an Uber to get to the cowboy bar
