  1. Hey All, I’m back from day 2 of 6 with another trip to Abasin..I know from yesterday where the snow is good and had a general idea of what the wind was doing to the snow. It was sunny and in the mid 20s when I pulled in at around 830. I took my time booting up and there was actually a shortish line at about 850 when I got in line for the black mountain express..I even went inside the bathroom their locker room is off limits it’s basement and super tight. Use your car as a locker. Was maybe 8-10th chair was only 855..rode with somebody who’s parents live in macungie. Over to Lenawee they were just removing the rope..was maybe 5th or 6th chair on that Lenawee was in a wind tunnel..was pretty cold by the top. It’s a long fixed grip triple. I doodled around in the run next to powerline skied all the way to the base cause gotta take advantage of the giant swaths of in touched on the more protected lower mountain lapped down there a few times.. Took Lenawee back up lots of untracked but sometimes untracked means windslab or hidden rocks but I don’t think I hit any rocks on my skis except in the parking lot yesterday Salty style. Took Pali lift up to Davis repeat of a route I skied yesterday and conditions were worse but some good patches..no grooming dark blue with single black off chutes..got to 50 yards from lift and pulled mask back up unbuckled boot..rode the beavers lift solo went from sweaty to cold by the top winds were fierce..doodled around untracked and slabby snow on Lenawee and saw some serious wipeouts..traversed through some lower mountain glades..you sort of want to follow others tracks in case they uncover snow snakes. Into the lot at mid day it was full..and streams of melting snow were running through the lot. I debooted, answered like two emails and drove back to Silverthorne stopped at a mini market, got more edibles and got Arby’s.
  2. Today they were doing an annual ski athon on the Pali loft at Abasin..I’ll look it up officially but I think it’s as many runs as can be skied from 7:45 or 8am. It seemed odd when I pulled in at 830 to see lots of people skiing down and a bunch of cars parked at the Pali lift. When I rode the Pali lift there was a special line for those with bibs so they weren’t stuck behind herb tourons Its called the enduro and skiing is actually from 7am-5pm that’s a big day. https://www.arapahoebasin.com/event/enduro/
  3. Pretty nice today. I think I have altitude sickness. I didn’t feel 100% earlier and my ears have been bugging me. I skied about 8-10 runs so far. Winding down.
  4. Looking like maybe an inch and a half of new snow..pretty clear outside. Just went to Einstein bagel.
  5. Chorizo empanada and quiche from Spanish bakery. They gave me an extra quiche as well. Also got a slice of chocolate mousse cake.
  6. Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Abasin. I arrived at the mountain at 830 and there were only a handful of people. I was booted up with ticket by 845 and only two people in line at the black mountain express. I rode the second civilian chair with some guy who hadn’t skied there in 20 years. Then over to the lenawee lift in 2” of new snow...basically breaking trail.. Up Lenawee and did the run to the left of powerline first all the way to the base and it was all untracked on top of groomer. Did a few lower laps go really milk that perder which was less wind affected then the upper mountain then back to the top of Lenawee and I took the rope tow and skied a run in montezuma bowl which was dust on crust. That area gets the spring conditions first and so the underlying snow wasn’t the nice styrofoamy snow of the front face or what I skied in the Beavers area earlier. I was really skiing runs fast and slowed down the pace a tad with some exploration. Took a fast Humbug I believe to lower mountain still leftover perd to the new Pali chair which now has a safety bar. I skied into the beavers area from Pali the wind up there was fierce and took Davis and did some single black off chutes which had nice ungroomed snow below the fresh. I didn’t see a single person on that run. I normally like to stop at the mid mountain lodge for Bloody Mary, beer maybe a soft pretzel but didn’t do that today, it probably would have just been me and the bartender as it was so quiet at Abasin. Visibility was also better than I expected. I skied another front face run by then everything on the main runs was choppy but the new 2” transformed the primary conditions into more winterlike. Back in Silverthorne I went to a strip mall taco place first and the line was pretty long so went to noodles and company and had buttered noodles with a pork topping and Caesar salad then ate some gummies and had a little nap. I think I’m gonna buy another ticket at Abasin for tomorrow. Can’t resist the lack of crowds plus it could snow more overnight
  7. I’ll write a report later..in the woods taking a safety break..it’s a nice pleasant day and barely anybody is here.
  8. Lifts start running in 15 minutes. The warmest 24 degrees at the base.
  9. I got the grab and go breakfast from the front desk. I had apple juice box, coffee, bagel with peanut butter and hard boiled eggs. Abasin today is gonna be good the 2”+ fallen..I’ll try and take a few pictures.
  10. Fat two inches so far at Loveland...good thing the rental car place gave me a brush to wipe the snow off my car. Also pictures from last nights Pho.
  11. Good hearing from you Sibhusky
  12. I believe they still have the old TWA terminal at JFK airport preserved as some sort of a museum. Right now I’m at Pho Bay. It’s dead here. Sitting at the bar.
  13. I could be the concierge. In Jackson hole I’m a tourist and I show tourists around. Had 7 rooms booked by PASRs at one time in the 49er..I should have got commish
  14. I have to checkout cnn and Fox News and see what’s happening. There are 330+ million people and if something nutty happens it’s all over the news and crazy stuff is always gonna happen. @PSUFlymy friend was fishing in the little Lehigh river and saw a safe...he called Allentown fire and police departments and they fished the safe out of the water. It was actually stolen from a local business. And I believe there was still some money in it. Off to the evidence room.
  15. I didn’t see laundry or vending machines but plenty of towels.
  16. Yeah but I like trying out new spots between the hotel house living. In a survey they asked how many nights a year do you spend in a hotel and I said almost 400.
  17. Yeah one of the SJWs I’m FB friends with was posting about how another Afro American was killed by police..crazy and I’m still getting over the loss of DMX and Prince Phillip.
  18. Room is pretty nice, it’s large..24 feet x 15 feet not counting bathroom and little wet bar.
  19. Got my early check in complimentary at the Hampton Inn...it’s adjacent to a shopping center and the front desk lady said the Chinese restaurant is very good. Also a walking path nearby which looks to lead up to the Dillon Dam..free breakfast looks to be grab and go style but starts at 6am which I like..Einstein bagel is basically across the street....I didn’t bring swimming trunks but there’s a pool and you make reservations for half hour time slots. JADIP. As little orphan Annie said,”I think I’m gonna like it here”
  20. I purchased a lift ticket for Abasin for tomorrow for $99...they do a reloadable card like at Blue. Lift ticket pricing is all over the place, Loveland is only $75 even on the weekends and Copper is like $130+ during the week but I’ll ski there at least one day. For shits and giggles I checked out Breckinridge and like $189. Just shows the value of having the Epicpass. Heading to the Hampton inn, if they don’t let me early check in I’m going to at least poop there and charge my phone. I’m at 38% and all y’all know I like to keep it 100.
  21. Nice I’m seeing lots of younger people on my FB newsfeed getting their first doses and a few 50-60 year olds who weren’t so anxious like most of us PASRs
  22. I saw that we are getting close to the point there will be more vaccine than people who want them. The last 30% of the population will be tough to convince to get vaccinated.
