Blue Mountain - COVID-19 Update
GrilledSteezeSandwich replied to toast21602's topic in Blue Mountain
Wrong..but if you don’t eat your meat you don’t get any pudding. Joe Rogan and his guest were discussing the vaccine and potential side effects. This month we will have more news on the vaccine than in the last 8 months combined. -

Don’t do it!!! Make up for it this summer. I personally am not allowed at my parents house until everybody is vaccinated. If your parents want to see you, meet them in a park for a picnic. -

That isn’t gonna help me when I don’t physically meet with customers. My mom has the credit card reader that hooks up to her iPhone because she does some art shows. Most mail in checks anyway which eliminates the merchant processing fee. We don’t accept Amex. I had had one customer who tried to pay her balance I believe around $900 over the phone on her debit card. It didn’t work and so she said she’d transfer money to credit union and use that card. She called yesterday to pay with that card and declined again. Of course she has a $500 daily limit which happens sometimes so called bank and then an hour later it worked. Pretty standard except customer was all mush mouth and there was organ music playing in the background but she called me sweetie for being patient. -

I can take their info over the phone and run it when I go in the office. Right now working on a quote on a St. Joseph statue... -

No problem, I like talking about work way better than actually working. I have sold quite a few tombstones from the hotel house this year. A shame I don’t have a credit card reader here. -

The funeral homes we work with primarily in PA and NJ have done more funerals than ever this year. Sure an 87 year old who died of Covid in 2020 would likely die in a few years anyway. We are just getting the business earlier. Deaths nationwide are about 10% more than in an average year due to Covid-19 but higher in the region I work in. Early in the pandemic funeral homes were so busy they weren’t even writing orders and since summer it’s been insane. November is typically a pretty slow month for us and we beat last years November by about 80% and December is off to a healthy start. I’d rather have normalcy..but also happy that me and my employees are getting nice bonuses next week. Deaths per day in PA and the US will keep increasing for likely a few months..deaths lag new cases by about 3-4+ weeks. -

Worse we have half their population. We also have a lot less regulations than Florida had when they were at their peak. -
Wow you owned a company? My friend works for this high end furniture company based in Europe and she was happy to get a crazy chair that was like $6,000 originally for maybe $700.

I doubt it. They are trying to keep the oy Vey Covey out of their state. In California there’s a new law that walk up lift ticket sales will not be allowed. Reservations only. That is gonna sting for the ski resorts. -

Mid winter when demand for skiing places like Blue is high, the limited ticket sales will hurt local places but I really think weekdays will be a lot busier. Major revenue losses on food and beverage sales across the board. -

There will still be a lot less people in Vermont due to restrictions. -

They are going to see a lot less people and the same for many Rocky Mountain resorts even with less or no restrictions as people aren’t traveling as much. Also there will be a labor shortage at many of the destination resorts as they rely on foreign workers. Also as Covid sweeps through employee housing and ski patrol and what not major labor shortages. Not good. I can see some Vermont resorts and places elsewhere limiting snowmaking and lift operations to cut costs. Expect some ski town hotels and restaurants to go out of business as well
