  1. You can't plan a party when Blue is closed. End of season party is rarely the last weekend of the season because we never know exactly when closing day will be.
  2. Wow well at age 29 Salty qualifies for the junior pass at Camelback which is insane. Holy extended adolescence
  3. The Alterra mountain company owns 12 of the resorts and then they got 14 other resorts to hop on board. I imagine deals are worked out with different resorts based on how much the passes are used at various resorts. The goal is to increase skier attendance. As most resorts have very high fixed expenses bringing more people to their resorts is a huge plus even if they are only getting a small percentage of what a daily ticket price would be. Its somewhat similar to the Max pass...
  4. Barb said it was good beginning April 9th or so.
  5. If you didn't end up getting hurt they'd still be calling you an idiot. We don't want you dying TP4..imagine how boring PASR would be without you.
  6. Yup those are the kind of hotels I like. I usually stay at the Hyatt place at the Denver airport my last night..great free breakfast and across the street from a pizzeria uno, Outback Steakhouse, Asian restaurant and Mexican restaurant.
  7. No planning needed..booked airfare the other day and will wait a little to book rental car as rates are variable and are often the lowest a few weeks out. I'll probably stay at the silver inn again in silverthorne. It was something like $85-90 a night and it's a couple hundred yard walk to an Irish pub that has corned beer nachos and double jack and cokes for under $9 each.
  8. I already said you were a dumbass for going out of bounds with no Avy gear and no knowledge of the terrain. I don't need to say it again. I would say that to anybody, not just you...
  9. And JH is best suited for advanced and expert skiers who have a brain. I like steep terrain and tree skiing..I'm not a fan of exposure so stay away from cliff areas and I have no avalanche gear or training so I don't cross the gates into out of bounds areas that are not patrolled, controlled or marked. Most of the terrain i ski at JH is single black diamond terrain...too steep and difficult for the herbs but often overlooked by the hardcore locals..that's why I'm able to rack up so much untracked on pow days
  10. Big cottonwood canyon and little cottonwood canyon
  11. JH isn't always convenient. In 2009 my flight from Chicago to Jackson hole ended up in Denver..with no flights available from Denver to JH for two days. I ended up renting a car and driving the 540 miles to Jackson hole second half of drive in a snowstorm and made it to Jackson at like 5am. I didn't miss any skiing just sleep and the one way rental was over $300. In 2015 I flew direct Newark to Jackson on the way..flight took the normal 4+ hours. On the way home I flew Jackson to Denver to Newark and was stuck in Denver for a night and then next day Denver to Newark flight was cancelled due to snowstorm on east coast so flew to DC..spent the night at my parents house in Arlington then on the third day flew D.C. to Newark flight was delayed like 6 hours and I returned to my car buried in snow..made a wrong turn and ended up in jersey city and then was pulled over by NJ state trooper for using a mobile device while driving. When it rains it pours. I like Jackson hole because it's consistently steep top to bottom, it snows a lot and every trip at the end I feel like I have unfinished business and have to return so I just have it in my yearly calendar last week of January when it's most likely to be uncrowded and powder filled. The town of Jackson and Teton village has changed a lot since my first visit in 2002...so much money has poured in, a four seasons was built, new Tram, new gondola, new high speed quads, new inbounds terrain, new lodges but same great mountain
  12. And didn't mean to slight TP4 when reporting snowfall. I watch the JH snow report everyday and webcams as well. TP4 you should have your family take you to the gunbarrel steakhouse and eat a big steak or wild game.
  13. My bad I looked up Newark and it showed New York lol. You definitely need to ski the Rocky Mountains. People travel from Europe and Australia to ski them. British people always used to travel to ski at Stowe in the spring time which I found odd.
  14. What makes Jackson hole so nice is that the airport is 8 miles from town and 20 from the mountain and all the driving is in the valley. When I do my skifari to Colorado next month it's a hour and a half drive to summit county on I-70 which goes from 5,000 feet to 11,000 feet at the Eisenhower tunnel and can sometimes be closed in snowstorms.
  15. Eaf where have you skied out west??
  16. I think I could make it to the Baltimore airport faster than JFK edit: actually 2 hours 8 minutes for JFK vs 2 hours and 30 minutes for Baltimore but it's a Sunday.
  17. You can fly jet blue direct Newark to Reno.
  18. When does everybody think we should have our end of season party? I'm thinking maybe the weekend of 3/10 and 3/11. They will likely stay open a bit later than that but should for sure be open that weekend. Any preference on Saturday over Sunday?? It needs to be a day when Root, NMSki and Enjorales are there.
  19. Perfect weather this week for it. Snow sets up a little but still stays soft and carvable. Looking at webcams they're good for another two weeks at least.
  20. Mammath is not having a big snow year like last year..direct flights where from JFK? JFK is not on my radar as an airport to use...way way too far away.
  21. They reopen tomorrow..normal week..race programs, trivia, I'm sure a few buses...
  22. You'll like steamboat. It's primarily intermediate terrain and there's entire pods of easy blues on the upper mountain. Steamboat is too far from Denver to get real crowded.
  23. Snowbird, Mammoth, Killington and Squaw valley are all open until May or later snow permitting.
