  1. yea i definately want to come up but for the jumps more than anything, so nicely shaped and i do so much better with people watching so a lift will be good for progression, a lot less 2nd thoughts about throwing things when other people are watching
  2. the middle box kicks u really high, i'm pretty sure its like 4 feet high at teh start and 8 feet high at the end and you get a good 15-20 feet to the landing. its about 6" wide. really fun and great with the gap before it.
  3. yea it was voted higher than mount snow and okemo. i'd definately agree with it on jibs, jumps they both have it beat and pipe is a toss up. becuase snowboard culture is pretty jib oriented right now its rated higher than those becuase of hte jiblab. Stratton is better than creek though I think thats pretty certain.
  4. yea like when i went up to mount snow for the first time I was so disappointed, the jumps were bigger in their main park but otherwise creek had them beat on jib quality ten fold. the flow at creek was better too. the only thing they lack is huge jumps but there are 30-40 footers and the big hip so its not so bad. and the pipe is kept so nice, it was cut monday night as far as i can tell, wednesday night it was perfect. although i agree the free riding isn't great, your best bet is bear peak for some more difficult runs, red tail on south, pipeline on devils bit, and then hit up the run that goes from the top of granite to the bottom of vernon and then the top of vernon back to granite. zero g, and the eagles are good too. otherwise, every other trail sucks. avoid anything green like the plague, and the one trail on south that everyone skis down is so over crowded its crazy.
  5. every year you think they can't step it up, every year you think its a shitty park. then its all open and your like, oh yea, this is why mountain creek kicks fucking ass. seriously there is some great stuff in there and now that i can actually step up to most of it i love it. I remember like 2 seasons ago i'd hit 1 or 2 small rails and the smallest jump in there, and now i can hit every rail and jump and the flow is awesome. top to bottom runs with 2 options for both jibs up top, 3 choices of trails in the middle (with 3 runs on one of the trails) and then either the superpipe, or the jib line with 2 options in a few spots, ending with the sweet table next to the lift, its so fun. oh yea and its all park pass protected so it doesn't get messed up, the crew is out there all day, and there is a mini park for completely new people, and the medium sized stuff at south for progressing from there. i can't wait to see this place in a year when they have a lot of snow and can play all winter. or even when they finish this year becuase there is still more room, khyber is going to get another hit, 1 or 2 more rails, and sugar should get the battleship box up soon.
  6. that jumps so fun, its not the biggest we have this year or the biggest in the last few, but its shaped so well it approachs perfection. and the line into is so fun, there are 4 hard jibs and then that jump and then a flatdown box and then 4 more jibs and then anohter jump for perspective, that box that is closest in the picture of 3 is about eye height, the poop daddy is the farthest one away and its well over the top of my head (5 foot 9") the upslope kicks you a good 15 feet to the landing that orange square rail in the 3rd picture is setup streetstyle too, although most of them have to be hit ollie on from the side anyway, but lots of downrails to practice on, i'm loving the park this year. it was voted ABOVE mount snow, sierra at tahoe, and okemo this year in the park ratings, thats just sick. the pipe was friggin gorgeous wednesday night, although tuesday it was the worst i'd ever seen it in my life, they cut it monday night but it was warm and it was solid blue ice tuesday, but it softened up for wednesday and it was perfectly shaped top to bottom and good quality snow
  7. yea uhave to anchor the wood with some posts sunk into the snow but they're so fun to do stuff on
  8. actually a guy at my the ski shop i work at was a hunter local all is life and talked about how a few days after a big storm when the powder was gone on the mountain they would hike to a brush fire tower? thing, and apparently there was some great like backcountry style skiing around it. i'm not sure, but there is some up there
  9. i'm not sure but it probably has to do with falling off it on your would make you shit your pants. seriously, u ever fall hard enough on your ass where it feels like u just broke your asshole in half? like that SUCKS. that rail is scary as shit though i'm not sure if i can man up to it this year, its like 10-12 feet off the ground like the battleship box but the gap is HUGE its got like a 6 foot gap up to it
  10. i'll be up tuesday all day and wednesday from like 4 until close but not thursday
  11. i'm impressed with what they've done with the lack of snow, but a little disappointed that they haven't made the sweet hit on khyber thats usually there and the one on great northern has been replaced by the double jib which is obvioulsy not what they planned originally cuz they plowed out the table to cover the melting, i have a feeling they're going to do that to the khyber one soon too
  12. as a snowboarder i love that becuase all of our equipment hangs from one foot so spend all day on the south lift with no foot rest and see how much circulation you have in your feet by the end of the day. not to mention boards get trashed when they cross skis under a lift. i agree though they could grade it so you pop back in at the top of the gondola and start moving from there instead of walking so far
  13. i've seen pictures of VV/GG butter boxes super old school, mountain creek is past that now. yes u can clear the whole thing but i wouldn't recommend it cuz the landing is steep and if you clear it, its flat.
  14. no more glades, there are too many people and not enough snow. the glades are still cleared out enough if you know where they used to be but i wouldn't recommend it right now. not to mention some fallen trees and random rocks and pipes that have moved sine they stopped maintaining them post VV/GG days. the park is amazing, but everything else is not
  15. skip creek, the blacks suck ass this week, the bumps are iced to hell and they need to be groomed out becuase there are still some thin spots. the best 3 trails are all closed (devil's bit, pipeline, jumping jack) and its going to be crowded. the park is world class but the riding is 3rd world country status right now and thats coming from me being up there 3 times this week and going up again tomorrow, realize out of those trails 8 of the 39 are park trails and it usually takes 3 or 4 'trails' to get down so theres only maybe 10 or 12 runs open right now. come back when you see all the trails open becuase the ones that aren't open right now are all major trails
  16. maybe i'm just underestimating myself becuase i've done a jump that big and thought it was a 40 footer although i paced out what i thought was a 20 footer wednesday night and it turned about to be more along the lines of 35 so, yea, that jump is definately 5-10 feet longer than the jumps mountain creek had open up until today. now we have a 70 something foot hip/jump and a huge gap jump thats got to be 40+ feet but with no deck to it so if you come up short your getting hurt. and they also put up some new jibs. that park looked pretty dman good though, i'll have to hit it up sometime
  17. plus in the intro park, flat box, battleship, tree hip, small jump. south park there is a flat box a flat rail and 2 15 foot tabletop jumps. sugar also has the battleship box waiting to go up, should be up soon. looks like indpendance is a 65' hip/jump, upslope box, poopdaddy (the super high rail, like 8 foot high 30 feet long double barrel rail), a jump, and a road gap. yea, a road gap. its super large and people are gonna get so worked if they come up short. i haven't seen the road gap finished but i saw them working it and you can drive a cat through it fo sho and solid jibbing in that video
  18. you'd think if a place built a 65' foot jump they'd mention it SOMEWHERE on their website, i mean they would be the only one in the area with a jump that big, by a good 25 feet at least. Not to mention someone said 73' somewhere else on here. I'm just saying I wouldn't drive down for the jibs I saw in the videos and I wouldn't drive down for a 35-40' jump, but i would drive that far for a 65' jump. $50 for a lift ticket and an hour+ drive is a lot more than the short ride and no cost for going to mountain creek, especially if its not as good. I'm pretty much discounting what I'm reading on the forums becuase I've read the skicamelback.com forums a lot and its like WE HAVE 30 FOOT JUMPS, and they're like 12 footers tops
  19. friday i'm cutting school i'll be up, i built a back yard setup saturday instead of coming up but i'll come check it out this week. im really excited winter picked right back up in like 2 weeks from january, by the end of this week i think the mountains will be back to midwinter prime.
  20. i've never been to blue but i'm planning to later this year so i'll see, but i measured out my backyard yesterday to setup my box and 65 feet seemed pretty damn large. i'd still like to see a picture becuase the over exageration of jumps by every mountain i've ever been to annoys me. and i agree mountain creek has small jumps right now but it just doesn't seem like you could make them bigger with the vertical available.
  21. ha you guys don't have a 65 footer. thats straight up bullshit i'm not believing that until i see a picture at the minimum, preferably with a tape measure or something as a reference.
  22. I was up yesterday and was at south all day becuase vernon's park was closed for a rebuild. making snow top to bottom at south on the trails that were open, even during the day. it should be getting close to the normal amount of snow for this time of the year on the trails that are open, but the ones that are closed are getting nothing (although i saw on the report they started 4 trails on vernon with snowmaking that had been closed up until now so thats a good sign). They might want to actually get some harder trails open some time this year.
  23. Mountain creek's park crew put out a funny video check it out Click me
  24. Performance Rentals? Manmade powder? Man chowder?
  25. mountain creek junked its 60 foot rollercoaster rail and probably its big ass S rail - circus rails are a few years behind the times. and they're right, the rollercoaster was hard as hell to get the whole thing but no one could ever do anything on it, they replaced it with a 40 foot round bar and people are actually getting things on
