Almost a month later and the line is STILL not buried after multiple calls to Verizon to get them to send out a crew (again) to bury it. The last group dug up my yard and then left without burying the cable.

I don’t know what these are, but the bulbs popped today and they look great. Back in April when I bought the house I was tempted to dig up the front garden these flowers were located in to extend the front patio a bit, and how that they have started blooming in very very happy I didn’t do so, adds nice color and appeal to the front of the house. now, if only it would rain so my grass would come back full and strong…..

A hitch mounted bike rack, a torch, and a welder and it could make for a nice and easy hitch mounted tailgate seat

We should let @JFskiDan do this to your lawnmower https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfHlSfTppYB/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Edit: if anyone knows how to embed it instead of just posting the link be my guest I have no idea how to

Yeah it’s crazy, I got locked in at a touch over 4%. I couldn’t imagine trying to buy right now with having to pay well over asking+7% interest
-
Yeah got lucky with the box being right there, tech said no charges, he’s going to list the damages as unavoidable. At the end of the day it was my mistake so if I would’ve had to pay, albeit not happy about it, I probably would’ve done so instead of going the bitch and complain route for something that was ultimately my fault.
-
They missed their window but they’re out now doing a temp drop, fortunately the box is on the back corner of my lot. Tech agreed with me that the line was not buried reasonably deep enough at all so we’ll see what happens with any charges
-
They made it seems like it’s $99 no matter what, I’m hoping I don’t get smacked with a bunch of extra charges, it’s my fault I broke the cable but there’s a certain amount of risk they have to inherit burying cables like that, 3 feet from the edge of the slab, 2” down. The average person (or idiot like myself) isn’t going to think to call 811 and have them come out and mark it before putting a spaded shovel in the ground to dig out 2” of topsoil.
-
I do have Fios, they’re coming out tomorrow at noon to fix it and that brings along a $99 fee. It’s the drop cable, goes from the box underground and then into my house somewhere (that I can’t seem to find?). There’s no conduit it in at all other than the thing plastic in the photo. I’m hoping the tech will side with me on that part at least that it wasn’t buried or protected very well… shouldn’t have to call 811 and have it painted out to dig in your own yard with a shovel….. Great question, I had the same thought, especially since it’s not deep at all, could’ve easily been hit with a aerator if I did such a think to my lawn.
-
…that’s going to be expensive. shout out to Verizon though for bury a fiber optic cable 2 inches into the ground. In an area that makes 0 sense to have it in.

Classic…. Advertise the ability to watch construction on social media… point 1/2 cameras away from the construction.

Pup enjoyed her first day at the beach on the bay side, she’s not a fan of the ocean and the waves there but was a huge fan of the bay, which is fine with me as this beach was dead empty at noon on MDW Sunday.

Ceiling is fixed, just needs to be sanded and painted. Debating on whether or not to remove the rest of the texture coat throughout the whole ceiling or try to replicate it on the new drywall

Yeah I put flex tape on it yesterday to see if that could be a temporary fix until this morning as well as to “stop the bleeding” before the ceiling got too wet…. We see how that turned out. Covered the hole up with some brown masking paper to keep additional insulation from blowing down, I’m going to give it a day or two to make sure there’s no additional leaks and then it’ll be drywall time
-
Welp, that’ll make replacing the pipe easier…. Looks like I’m doing drywall sooner than I anticipated.
-
there’s saw marks on it… which makes no sense to me whatsoever other than someone being a complete moron. Ordered new piping from lowes earlier today (wasn’t about being in a 120* attic) for pickup tomorrow morning so it’ll hopefully be fixed by 10am at the latest.
-
I actually replaced the filter the day I did the walk through and closed. Also had a home inspection done and they missed the cracks in the pipes that are completely visible if you do more than a head and shoulder inspection of the attic… which they obviously didn’t do. Oh well, is what it is, I knew what I signed up for. Luckily the drywall repair should be relatively easy as it only effect 2 sheets, one of which has the attic cutout which is nice 90 degree angles. at the end of the day, I look at it this way,it’s not the AC system itself, just some white pvc pipe which is a hell of a lot less expensive
-
You are correct, it was not from either copper line it was from the condensate pump outlet pipes. Found two areas where it had been previously patched. Home warranty contractor told me he could be out Friday 🙄….. $85 in parts and tools later and I have a 8am pickup from lowes schedules.

Weird. I didn’t have to give them any of that, i believe I got it in 2021 so it’s possible they didn’t require any of that due to Covid.

I heard someone else say this recently as well, I don’t remember having to provide anything to get my real id, I actually did it online.
