  1. The "decline" of snowboarding and rise of freestyle skiing has been talked about on here before and the Sochi Olympics hosting slopestyle and ski half pipe as events for the first time had me thinking about how much parks and completions have progressed in the past 5 years. I've noticed that things keep getting bigger and more challenging, HUGE tricks are being thrown, and crazy setups are coming out of almost any place with access to a groomer and someone with a few screws loose in their head. Anyway one of the reasons why I started this topic is because of this article. Red bull is Definatley stepping up the level of competitions with this and if you haven't seen simon dumonts cubed pipe video or Danny Davis' peace pipe video I highly encourage you to watch them. http://snowboarding.transworld.net/news/red-bull-double-pipe-snowboarding-competition-brings-first-ever-side-side-halfpipes-life-march-19-23rd-aspen/#.Uxaj0im9Kc0 So does anyone else feel that in the next 5 years this type of stuff is going to hit a peak or is the sport just going to progress from here?

Second jump was nice tonight BUT it could use a little more of a lip. Also, you had to completely skip the first jump to even have speed to hit the second.

They're too close together. Getting speed for the second jump isn't a problem if you skip the first jump

you should make that second jump a mellow step over like it was 3 weeks ago. Also, I love the use of the pill on the side of the crossover from cascade to lower Blackbear. It would be cool to see more stuff like that. IMO it would be fun if the stairs were set up on the other side of the wall ride that's in place now, although the current setup is real fun.
  8. 5-7. $3 craft drafts at the pub. Includes 60&90 minute IPA plus a few others. And $1 cheeseburgers
  9. Late in regards to what time? 10 is pretty fair. Especially during the week. They won't get much weekend business after 10. I know I'm never there past 7 on a Friday because I want to make it back to Kutztown for happy hour. Plus, most people that would ride past 10 are pass holder, which they essentially don't make money off of and they would have to pay to keep the lift spinning. If you meant stay open late as in April then disregard the above paragraph.
  10. " I have always considered myself a slopestyle rider, but its just that you get so much more recognition for riding the pipe." That statement right there in that interview just sums up how much of a business this is to him. Look at some of the other riders like sage and tornstein and halldor who have said in countless interviews and video parts/documentaries that they could care less if they get recognized at least they're doing what they love to do.

I know it's been said before but if there's enough snow it'd be cool to see a butter pad made out of snow with a down rail on it, even if it's small it'd be something fun. The setup right now is real fun though. IMO it has a lot of flow to it. I really like the flat rail to down donkey dick that's set up. I think they could be spaced a little further apart so you have some time to set up for the down but it's Definatley a fun feature regardless. Also, I think it would be cool to have the wall ride set up as a stall again but with a down rail on the other side so you can stall the top and drop into a down rail. Just my opinions on some things. Other than that, can't comain about the park at all this year or it's upkeep. Everything has been kept 100%.
  13. It shoots you too high up and not out, that's just what I got from it. I think it's a little big for its position on the trail. You have to bomb from the lift basically and on a busy night, like last night, it's dangerous because all the retards are out. I do applaud you guys for making bigger things this year though.
  14. Yup. Good old burton buying company's to keep them in the industry then dissolving them.
  15. Did the kicker actually have pop to it this morning? I hit it last night with more than enough speed and it had absolutely no pop at all.

It needs to be cut. There's no lip on it tonight and it has no pop to it at all.

I live 8 miles from bear, we're only getting 1-3". I assume you live in southeastern pa/northern Delaware? That's where the most snow is projected

They were a bunch of cool dudes. You should try to set something up for us snowboarders. It was awesome to see them rip through the park though. They seemed like they enjoyed it

you should. Park is on point today. Get here early though. Place will be a madhouse come 3 o'clock.
  24. spot on. Actually got a good "talking to" by a dad at bear last week because I said its not the best, or safest, idea to bring his kid through the park on a leash because of the many blind spots that are in most terrain parks. His response, in front of his maybe 5 year old kid, was "I paid for a ticket I'll go wherever the fuck I want" which I kindly replied that I'm an advanced park rider and I've almost been taken out by people who don't spot landings or run outs to certain features and that it's more of a safety issue for beginners to be in there than an inconvenience.

Actually Tom do you know why they turned off? I heard a car took out a poll on state road but we all know how whisper down the lane works
