LOL, '999, I know it was all in good fun. we're all just out having a good time... I'll even bring you some epsom salts for after the MC race as a show of good will
-
Sorry '999, sometimes things just come out before I think about them. And doug, by the way, I weighed out my priorities... skiing vs. smoking. I'm down to 1 or 2, if any, a day. I refuse to chew... I weened myself off with tic tacs. even i have my limits... Just going to get in as much practice and training as possible, and hopefully one day I can get rid of my wanna-be, gonna-be status.
-
Thanks '999, just tryin to keep it simple for a new skier. This sport's confusing enough as it is... lol
-
I wanna be uber fast one day.... too bad time's running out I better get my butt back to some ASRA races. but back on topic: Congrats John!
-
Wow. This thread is just starting to stink of maturity. I really REALLY hate taking sides in the whole 999/steeze thing, considering I really think you guys argue just for the sake of arguing. I respect both of you. Unfortunately, I have to say- Paps, you are the parent of a racer. I really feel that in order to present a more educated point of view that you, yourself, should race something other than nastar. ASRA is a real eye-opener. Anyone can race ASRA. I went into the TWood Race thinking that I was fast. I was kinda fast, but in an old school, unefficient kind of way. I still am kinda fast in an old school, unefficient kind of way... but I'm learning! lol. What i'm trying to say is that if the only thing you've ever done is Nastar, you really can't speak for racing. This may seem odd coming from me considering my main format is Nastar. The reason for that is simply that I'm a broke college student, and Nastar is cheap. lol. Trust me, if i had decent income I'd be to and from all the ASRA races during the year.

Lol, tretiak, you're a liftie? Anyways, I'll be there. Ohhhhhh Zonked, feel like some blue mtn skiing on sunday?
-
From what i gather, you being a first time skier and all, there is a WHOLE LOT of information on here that you don't need and probably makes no sense to you. As a beginning skier you should be on a very light flexing ski, and when you stand the ski up next to you it should come up to your chin. The simplest method for sizing skis is called the "head method." basically, a new skier should have skis that come up to their chin, intermediate should come to the nose, and experts should have skis that come up to their forehead. So I hope that made it simple enough for you. Just make sure they come up to your chin and you should be fine.

Stayin' Alive in the Terrain Park/CB Terrain Park Music
Metz the Jersey boy replied to mtnbiker99x's topic in Camelback
Still don't get the whole hip-hop/freestyle thing... I'm definitely all for the punk/hard rock mix in the park. I know some people are down with the whole "get relaxed before i do some crazy stuff" thing... not me. Personally, hit me with some 3 Doors Down, a little bit of Pennywise, and some Hawthorne Heights for a little screamo pleasure. That about covers it for me. -
Hmm... don't know about all the confusion going on... but I think I'm going to have to skip out on the montage PASR day... something's telling me that I might just end up at blue on the 5th..... hmmm. Will I have anyone to ski with? As for the ASRA race... I believe you can count me in for this one! I should have a speed suit (scary, I know) and some better form by then. see you all there

heck yeah, don't forget me! On a serious note: Honestly guys, i'd give a kidney just to be able to go back in time and take part in a USSA program. After learning what I've learned this year at Twood for ASRA and even in Nastar I wish I had learned the correct techniques and had the amount of practice that I'm finally getting this year. Jeff, please, go for it with USSA. Fortunately for me, I believe its never too late to start anything. I'm going to try and get to as many race camps as possible the rest of this year, and hopefully gain enough knowledge to at least put on a good show at my next ASRA race. And guys, i realize that NASTAR isn't exactly something you take seriously, but for me everytime I get into that gate and get ready to push off its like waiting to recieve the kickoff in the superbowl. Its my chance to leave nothing in the shed, come out hollering, and throw my fist into the air after setting a new personal best. Even though I'm in the bronze division now I'm ranked first in New Jersey for my age group. I can say that in my division I'm first in my state at something. thats cool. I've never felt that before. Hey, my first race this year was a 48 handicap... my last run yesterday was a 27. I'm having the time of my life!
-
Awesome! I can't tell you how cool it is to see little ones on race skis going after the course like yours do. Just makes me wish that i had started racing at a much younger age. Can't wait to see you all out there again!
-
Yeah, wow, major props to the dude today. He smoked the world on a course I refused to even ski. I got there, took one look at it, and got in the car to go home. Oh well... 4 nastars in one week wasn't meant to happen this week. I'll be back at blue on thursday to try and set a new low handicap...
-
Rode the lift with a Ranger at Cb yesterday, and he told me that over 12,000 in equipment was stolen from blue last month... double that at CB... this is a big problem
-
NJSki- I hope he gets his first silver the day I do, then we can all celebrate. Keep him going! And, as a bonus tell him this. While I was checking results I checked his rankings too. As of right now he's qualified to go to the Nationals in Steamboat in his age group for the bronze division! Hopefully that will give him some motivation!
-
I've got the volkl supersport superspeeds... they're black with red writing. If you see me, just tap me on the shoulder or yell metz... I'm always up for taking some runs with someone new.
-
Good news for ya atomic- looks like I'll be down at blue one of the days.... alright, maybe thats bad news.... lol, anyways. Just look for my red jacket, and pasr stickers on the back of my helmet. Someoned that fits that description and skis on volkls = me. someone who fits that description and skis atomics = atomicskier.
-
I have to agree with atomic, today was absolutely beautiful! There was quite a crew from PASR out too! I spent most of the day in the Nastar course, and met NJSkiFamily. I had a lovely conversation with them for a bit, before running off to meet up with Skidude and Racerchick. We took some runs down just about everything on the hill and had a blast. I saw volklfreeskier, and I went looking in the park for any PASR stragglers, but couldn't find anyone. all in all, a great day!
-
Great snow tonight at CB... wish I would have met some more people though. I spent most, ok, all of the night skiing with racerchick and dancing in the liftline, but i saw Jeff, met pyro, and then made my turns. All in all a great night, and hopefully I'll get to see everyone tomorrow. peace all
-
Yeah, I'll be up there pretty early tomorrow as well...
-
to see you up there man! I'll be in my usual gear and could be on my board or my skis, but mostly my skis.
-
Heading up to CB tonight, probably getting there around 4 or so. Rumor has it we'll see that Atomic kid up there tonight... along with maybe a dude, a racerchick, and who knows who else... let me know if you're coming up!
-
yeah, I'll leave the racing part alone for this post, but all i have to say is that Razor's was DAMN fun afterwards. Great night.
-
Yes, Jeff was skiing SH*T HOT tonight. A 10 handicap run? alright, I'm amazed. Mucho props to him. I brought home a gold medal though... too bad its jeff's and I forgot to give it to him lol. anyways, I had a blast tonight, even though I got majorly schooled by the kid on atomics.
-
Thanks volkl... thats why we love you- always there to exploit others faults for the rest of the world to see... lol, j/k man. When we going to make some turns anyway? I'll be at CB sat. and sunday this weekend. Maybe we can even get you onto the nastar course???? Anyways man, let me know if you want to hook up for some turns. Catch you all on the mountain saturday- unless you're on big poke-a-ho, in which case you'll never see me. ever. not in a zillion years. not if I was still a season pass holder and it was the only trail on the mountain.

Heck yeah man... ridge crosses the line faster than you can say "duct tape wallet" and 'Dude- Nice sig.
