hey dudes and dudettes, I realize its supposed to rain tomorrow, but i'm going to be at CB bright and early to try and beat the rain... Anyone else thinking of heading up? Oh yeah... I'll be racing nastar if its open, and then i'll probably be spending the rest of the day falling all over myself on my snowboard. (gets boring on the skis sometimes)
-
Awesome man, yeah, i'll stop by there one day on my way to blue... later peeps
-
Definitely will man... just let me know what shop and where you're at.

Finally got 2/3 of my new setup tonight... Didn't get the new board, but I got new bindings and boots. I didn't go with the flow bindings, because I've heard complaints of the highbacks bailing out mid run... I did get Ride EX's, and a shiny new pair of Salomon Synapse's. Holla. Any of you riders want to teach me a few things so I can make the new setup look good?
-
Wow, all this just for a little challenge... I'm sooper souped about tomorrow night... I hope everything's open and what not, cause if there's no nastar I'll just go to the toe of the camel and work on my riding there. (yes, I did just say my riding... I have to get back on my board this year)
-
Throwing down the gauntlets for another challenge in the Booter Mtn nastar course... any takers?
-
Yeah, the photo is fantastic... And Jeff... I've still got a case of beer for ya.... And another wager if you're so interested.... Wondering if you think you'll lose to me at all this year...
-
I'd be one piss poor competitor if I ever learned any lessons regarding who could beat me... Sorry folks, my stubborn arse is still just as competitive, and still going after everyone I'm going after, I'll just be much quieter about it now... Jeff, please don't confuse the things I don't say for being things that i don't think... You, sir, still have a giant bullseye painted on your back. As for now, i'm silent.

Don't know if anyone's seen this yet, but i plan on taking this out to the mountain in my pocket and working on these things.... also there's a great sequential photo of Schlopy taking gates... any opinions on this, tips? Ooops, forgot to post the link... http://www.skiracing.com/features/news_dis...S/newsArticles/

Bunny- you can really avoid pack-out problems by getting a smaller boot and then having a bootfitter pack them for you with pressure guns. Its the best way to get a boot that will fit well for a long time. Custom footbeds will run about 100 bucks for any pair of boots, but they cure so many problems with circulation and fit. Rome- Thanks for the curiosity, I am indeed looking for something more geared towards eastern freeriding, but I'd like to have something that I can eventually take a couple hits with once I get better on the board. I've been skiing for 20 years, and riding for 3, but I only really get 10 days a year in on my board. At my local shop they showed me the new Premier and a Rome board, but any suggestions are extremely welcome. I like the flow system, and unlike a lot of boarders I like I heavier setup, as its more stable at speed for carving, and after being on one of the pairs of skis that I own just about any board feels like a sheet of plastic to me. I'm looking in the 158 to 163 range as far as length... I'm 5'9" about 200 pounds, give or take a couple pounds depending on how many fried oreos and pierogies I eat in the lodge...

Bunny- One word of advice that no one mentioned- Go see a certified custom boot fitter for packing, heating, forming, shaving, etc. I bought a pair of Northwave vintages last year, and with the help of Ray Bush up at Pelican Ski Shop in Morris Plains, NJ they were custom fit to my feet. The result- I wear a snowboard boot that is 1.5 sizes smaller than my street shoes (and a ski boot that is a full 2), but fit much, much better. No loss in circulation, so no numbing, and no complaints. Custom Footbeds are a must. This year I've got Sally F24s and I need a good binding replacement... I'll actually be going with the flows. Next up, board replacement. Currently on a Never Summer Premier... its an awesome board... any suggestions?

Alright, here we go, time for my two cents- Twin tips are NOT JUST FOR THE PARK. The volkl Karmas that Papasteeze and I have aren't even particularly good for a lot of park applications. They're rather stiff and a bit heavy. They can be useful in big air, but are not particularly good for small kickers and rails. What they ARE good for, however, is tree skiing and off piste work. The wider waist allows a lot of float in powder, and the softer tail section combined with the tail tip allows for great maneuverability when you're thrown into the back seat, which sometimes happens in an off piste environment. My point here is that not everyone who's on twin tips is on them for the park. Mine are AWESOME tree skis, and I love everything about them.

I think an all day weekend ticket is 34 bucks for blue... not sure though, I'll check prices and post them... I'll definitely be there thursday getting steezy. Hopefully the jibster and mt bike mike will show. I just realized that I have the ASRA race at Blue on Sunday, so I need to get in some runs to practice. And I have to see a repeat of Jib's OOOOOOH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT move off the big booter, and you and I now have a mini downhill rivalry. We can race little downhills and the winner gets to hit on the women while we ride up on the Quizzad.

By the way everyone, I have access to really cheap lift tickets to Camelback, Blue, Hunter, Mtn. Creek, and I think Shawnee. My local shop sells them ridiculously cheap... like, my ticket to MC on sunday was 36 bucks... if anyone wants tickets to a function at any of those hills, let me know, and find me at blue on thursday nights... I'll get the cheap tickets and meet everyone with the vouchers...

alright everyone, he's the report from the PASR day at Mtn Creek. We're renaming this day "Nipples Appreciation Day at Mountain Creek." I've got pics I will post later of nipples... being nipples. I'd like to give a shout out to everyone who attended today. (that would be me, nipples and papasteeze) No gondola, no quads, MLK weekend crowds and a horribly laid out mountain all add up to one thing- half hour liftlines, one to two runs open on each peak, and me getting no vertical for the day. My next post will be one that completely flames MC, unless papasteeze can get on that first. I do think, however, that one thing could have saved the day- if some of you guys showed up. A bad day on the mountain with good people to spend it with becomes a good day on the mountain. Missed everyone out there.
-
Alright everyone, i'm hoping you all get this before tomorrow. I'm pushing back the meeting time. We're meeting at 12 noon now. I have to stop at Pelican to pick up some more stuff before showing up. Looking forward to seeing everyone that shows up.
-
Alright everyone here are the final details for PASR day at Mountain Creek Tomorrow! Meeting time is 11 am at the bottom of the Sugar Quad on Vernon Peak Papasteeze is running a shuttle from Camelback at 6 am with room for 3 more. I'll be running a shuttle from Bear Creek. We will be leaving BC at 8 am. I have room for 2 more. I will be in the lot away from everyone in a gold 01 chevy impala with a roof rack on it. Jersey plates, of course. I will be holding a couple of little contests for the pasr members that are there. Jose Batista from Pelican Ski Shop in Whitehouse NJ got us some awesome prizes for the contests, so show up and bring your A-game. See you all on the hill!!!

I definitely think we're going to see a really big and important race sometime soon... I don't think we'll see it out of Bode though. There are definitely other reasons for americans to cheer. I think its time to embrace the others.
-
Alright everyone... It is looking like I'm going to be running shuttle from Bear Creek instead of blue... if that helps anyone else out, let me know, i'm driving. Looks like I have room for 1-2 more
-
Bode now has the distinction of being one of those people whose existance doesn't matter to me, other than the fact that he's just one more person between me and the olympics, lol. Forget Bode, how about that Ted Lighety (did I spell that right?). And Schlopy. Schlopy is hardcore.
-
Doug absolutely blew me away. I only got two runs in since I got there so late, the first one was my first run of the night, and my second one I crashed half way down the course. Oh well, all we can do is come back out and give it another go next week or sometime soon.
-
Well, I of course need to pop up and throw in my 2 cents... I got up to the hill at 8 (damn getting out of work late and traffic on 78) As Jeff said, the course was really rutted up, and I will openly admit that i got really gun shy seeing those big ruts when a little one tossed me... BUT, there is absolutely no reason for my piss poor times, other than piss poor skiing. My mouth is shut until I post a time worth talking about. (hopefully this weekend at CB, cause I love a little friendly trash talking ) The real story of the night is meeting two new mountain buddies that are definitely a pair of cool cats. Doug and Jib you guys are definitely awesome to hit the mountain with. I can't wait to get up to blue again to hang out. hopefully it'll be for longer next time. Jeff, Doug, Mtn Bike (thought I didn't get to talk much with you, we'll definitely talk next time) great job going after that course. Quote of the night: Jib- "OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTT" (while taking the big booter on the top of sidewinder for the first time) priceless.
-
lol, we've all got warm weather NFS (no freshies syndrome). anyways, i got a prize for the darkest whiteboy I know if/when he beats me tomorrow. lol
-
man guys, i went through the trouble of getting all these cool prizes and now I have no one to give them to. Schif, grab zonked, and come skiing. you wussbag. I don't care if she's got an open house. bring the party to the hill. Everyone else, show up. some ski/ride mb this is... no one wants to come out to the hill

Thank you for the compliments Jeff. I just would like to say that I hate to sound cocky, and I feel that is not truly my nature. I am, however, overwhelmingly competitive. It got me pretty far in football, and I'm hoping it'll do the same for me in racing. Please, everyone, just understand that I am merely being competitive, and I will never back down from a challenge. well, almost never. I'm here for friends. thats all.
