or.....maybe you just dont ride like my friend which is more likely the case. He does all rails and jumps and the strain that puts onto the base area of the bindings is much greater then you average cruiser or 2-3 lapper through the park. He's ridden MANY different board, including 2 burton dominants, a rome artifact and a rome agent, a K2 darkstar and a saloman scout, all of which are industry standards in the park department and all of which have broken in the same spot b/c of the burton bindings....right under and around the base of the binding. Sooooo maybbbeeee it is the bindings. either that or he has the worst luck in the world which i highly doubt.
-
AGGREEEEEEDDDDD!!!!!!! I dunno maybe you just got lucky but my friend has ridden burton cartels for the past 2 years and destroyed about 6 boards b/c of the way the bidnings made his board flex.....I will never ride burton stuff....theres so many other companies that arent as comercialized that make a way better product. Yeah you gotta give them props for being the original but i just dont think there stuff is at the level that it should be...ive seen to many board/ bindings from the break to ever consider riding anything from them.

ouch that sucks....ill def keep an eye out for water on the lens now. Thanks
-
Thanks man but its kinda hard when its so slushy like that....It seems like every time someone gets withing 5 feet of the lens it get water drops on it. I actually do keep a cloth on me, i just use a goggle wipe but i don't check the front of my lens every every 2 minutes and and it was bright as heck so i didn't even see it through the lcd.

YEah that was me and my friends. We only got to do it like 3 times and then ski patrol came and shut us down. The run in was super sketchy and landing was narrow...it was pretty gnarly to say the least. 2 kids jumped it and landed it though. We'll be looking to hit it more during the season when they get some more snow there.

Heres some pictures from opening weekend...saturday to be specific. and ill have a video from opening weekend coming out very soon....ill post it when i get it done

In all fairness the kid should be able to bust on the video if he wants. The first thing you need to realize when you start editing a video is that not everyone is gonna agree with what you do. They'll hate on you song choice, your colors, your trick selection, the way people are dressed, pretty much everything and if your gonna post a video online pretty much anywhere, learn to take peoples comments either as constructive criticism or learn to ignore them, thats all you can do. A good example of this is every video on Transworld snowboarding gets busted on like crazy and you HAVE to have a good edit to get it up there , but its just b/c kids are dicks. In my opinion i think salty should put more effort into his edits and worry about quality over quantity. The skills are there but i think he needs to dedicate more time....

-
YEAHHHH WHAT THE HUCK!!!!!!!! thats my freakin video....New one, even better one, coming soon!!!
-
GAYYY...they should probably wait till saturday so that i can go.
-
I think and hope bear will wait till the weekend to open. I would think it would make more sense from a money making standpoint, plus imagine what they could do with that extra snow...we'd have a sick opening day park.

The reason bears pipe sucks so much all the time is because they dont have the man power to maintain it. They have a pipe cutter but he's only there a couple days so he only cuts it every once in a while. That seems to be the main problem when i talk to people from park crew is that they are trying to do so much that their stretched so thin. Its amazing that andy can actually do all the things he does. As long as they brought in someone who knew what they were doing and was there at least once a week to cut the pipe i think they could easily do it. I also think that the opportunities that it would bring to bear would be incredible. You joke about things like the olympics but its not that far fetched. Maybe not the olympics but the grand prix is a possibility...especially with the new hotel facility. It has been at mtn creek for i dunno how long but with the weather lately i know they had to cancell it last year so things like that are a possibility....if they would put in a superpipe.

Im interested to see what the set up opening day is gonna be like. I had the chance yesterday when i was picking up my pass to check out the bleacher box and it looks like its gonna be a real good time, would like to see that opening day. It would be awesome if they had enough snow to put a little jump in too. Last years opening set up was pretty nice so i got high hopes for this opening day. also..... I heard the other day that bear is still pushing to put a super pipe in but b/c of the hotel costing so much and taking so long that it got pushed back....has anyone else heard this? I know it was originally proposed and then nothing went through with it. I think as long as they had the crew to take care of such an enormous thing that it would be a really good thing for bear. It would def probably bring alot more sponsors and maybe somemore big name competitions.

I was backing myself up from my original post, thats what the second post was about. I was gonna write another post backing myself up again, i had it all written out but then i realized....whats the point, i dont need to prove myself to a bunch of people ive never met before on an online message board...I have better things to do with my life. I could careless if you people think im being stupid, or ungrateful, or "folding when stuff hits the fan". I know some people will agree with me and obviosely a good deal will not but thats just the way it is. The reason i come on here is to find stuff out about the mountains and maybe have a chance to let andy or mark know what i think about how they could do better. I dont come on here to argue or hold conversations sorry man but im just not that lame. I have my opinions about things and thats just the way it is, take it or leave. My point of view is from someone who has been all over the east coast and ridden all the parks and knows whats good, and yeah maybe my perspective is a little one sided but park IS a huge demographic in most ski areas around here so im pretty sure i have a basis for my point of view, but if you dont agree with that, then oh well.
-
Wow so many haters so little time.... I was gonna type up this big long speech to prove all of you wrong but then...... I realized while typing it up that this is all dumb and the people im arguing with have probably no clue the position that im coming from so im just gonna give up this argument and leave it at this.....Im sorry if i offended anyone or insulted bear in any way. I love bear, thats why i have a pass there. I think that bear does a good job with their park, obviousely i have some criticisms, if you disagree with me maybe we can sit down over a nice cup of hot chocolate and discuss them. I think andy does an awesome job with what he has and i have said this to his face. So if you wanna keep hatin and calling me ungrateful and saying im polluting this thread with "shit" then i say to you....HATE ON. Im not gonna argue with a bunch of kids and ski dads on an online message board, especially over bear creek. Check my home mountain status on the left hand side, theres a reason those exclamation points are there. All that crap outta the way, hopefully the weather stays good so we can get some good snow production in and open the whole mountain...not just the park.
-
OK OK maybe i was a little pissed off and went a little over board but im pretty sure that i did NOT contradict myself. Maybe not 3 but about 2 years ago it really wasnt that big deal to have an incredible park and bears was awesome and people knew it. These days if you havent realized theres a sort of "Park War" going on, especially right here around PA and NJ. Park riders, both skiers and snowboarders have become a HUUUUGGGGEEEE number of people at the mountains, so much so that they now outnumber the people just going on weekend trips etc., by a fairly decent amount. We now have all these mountains trying to beat the other in the park category. A great example of this is BB and MTN Creek. BB was stealing alot of business from creek just because of they way BB is run, their snow production, length of season, well alot of reasons actually. So what did mountain creek do, they built the "largest park on the east coast", expanded their snowmaking etc. etc. and for what? all to compete with BB who had what? A BETTER PARK. Bear has the potential to be just as good as BB, who now is the clear leader in the area, but they dont have the smarts. The one thing BB does is understand the riders. Im sure you have been up to BB recently skeer_thomas, and if you havent been then you really should. Its an EXPERIENCE! Its not just their park its their whole attitude towards things, they CARE about the rider, and you know what this brings???? MORE BUSINESS!!!! So that being said, i understand why they cancelled the rail jam but i still stick to my claim. Bear needs to realize that this isnt 3 or 2 or however many years ago and needs to start thinking about what they need to do to match the big guns like BB. and dont get me wrong everybody i LOVEEEEEE bear creek and would choose it over any other mountain and i just want to see them do as good as they possible so they can continue to grow and be a leader in this area.

Bear you messed up BIIIIGGGGGG time on this one. I can understand about cancelling the rail jam, but you didnt even put anyhting up on the website other then a little message in a link. Your gonna have alot of pissed off riders showing up for a rail jam and when they realize there isnt one...their gonna be even more pissed. This is not a great start to the new season. I myself as a LOYAL pass holder am very dissapointed in this mountain right now. I cant even imagine how frustrated the people who might not have passes are going to be. You may not realize this but there arent alot of people that come to bear to ride the "vert". You guys have a very big demographic in the park riders, most of who dont have alot of money and are going to be FURIOUS when they drive all the way there and find out there is no jam. You guys need to realize that this isnt 3 years ago, if you wanna compete with the big guns like Big boulder and mountain creek this year you need to step up your game, and this is NOT stepping up. That being said its nice to see you guys are blowing snow and i cant wait till BC opens, hopefully it will be a good year.......hopefully.

Yeah but that would cut up on the number of people getting hit becuase most people dont do lines like that...they stop after one feature and wait for their friends or something. Also the flow of traffic would just never work because you would have people trying to cut from the left feature to the right feature and from the right feature to the left feature and it would just get to be a battle zone. Then you have the people who only wanna hike one of those features and sit on the landing of another. In a perfect world that would be amazing but in a bear creek world im not so sure if it would work. I do agree on the no ride on's in cascade though... and with the rhythm section idea. That would be mad fun.

People were trying to get in free before they knew it was a competition.....If its a competition yeah you should have to pay...but if its just for shits then we should get in free, we spent the money to buy a pass we should be able to ride. BUUUUUTTT since its a comp. for cash prizes i see no prob with having to pay.

Theres your answer in a nutshell....
